bobbin’s hike today is considerably long. he has gotten distracted by smells and headed off the trail into the woods, and now the only sure way back is to follow his path, so however far he goes, he has to be ready to go the same distance back. he isn’t thinking of this, though. he is busy following the curious smell of a creature he doesn’t recognize.
he hums to himself as he follows after it, his fluffy tail high and his head low as he sniffs. he doesn’t want to look sneaky if anyone sees him heading through the forest like this. he doesn’t know if he’s following a cat, but if he is, he doesn’t want to seem rude, and he isn’t, he doesn’t want whatever it is to think it’s being hunted and try to escape. he just wants to know what it is.
it’s late in the afternoon before the scent finally starts getting fresher and stronger - the creature must be nearby. he gets excited, but keeps his pace even and his footsteps quiet. he doesn’t want all this wandering to be for nothing. he tracks the creature all the way up to the entrance of a huge hole, which is covered with wood, much to his disappointment. he is in the middle of searching for a way in when the wooden door swings open and he is suddenly lifted off the ground by something hairy, smelly, and most importantly humongous.
the creature lifts him up and he frantically shakes his hair away from of his good eye to try to take a look - and it’s a hairy face unlike any he has ever seen. it has curled teeth poking out from its lips, a big, flat nose, and heavy brows over dark eyes, and its whole face is framed with wiry hair. bobbin is so curious he almost forgets to be scared. almost. it is standing up on a pair of massive legs and holding him in a much smaller second pair - oh, maybe this is the “twoleg” creature the others had talked about ?
“what are you ?” he asks, but the strange animal shows no signs of understanding, much to bobbin’s disappointment. instead, the creature pats him on the back gently, then sets him down on the ground again, shooing him away. it then climbs back down into its hole and closes the door, which, now that bobbin is seeing it a bit better, is part of the beginning of a bridge. how curious.
bobbin looks up and jumps as he realizes that it’s almost dark. he takes one last hurried look around before heading back towards the camp at a very quick pace.
he manages to get back a lot faster than he thought he would… how strange. once he reaches the camp, he immediately searches for one of the cats he met at the twoleg den, wanting to ask them if twolegs look like the thing he saw.

[this does not have to be canon for anyone else i just had time for a little extra writing today and so bobbin had an encounter with bigfoot for nobody to believe him about ✨ skfjsjfj]
