It was moons ago Sunpaw and his half sister Honeypaw were fresh apprentices. His mentor was the young warrior Duskwing. Yes he was a Warrior's apprentice and he was proud of it too, thinking medicine cats were weak...

Until his sister turned on him in the middle of a battle when their mentors were to busy fighting a fox pair that had moved into a den near the training feild. He tried to fight back but she was too quick to strong...

When he woke up in the medicine cats den, she stood over him, false consern on her face. "Sunpaw! You are awake! I thought that fox cub was going to kill you!" Her eyes didn't match the concern in her voice. Sunpaw went along with her story. He knew he couldn't beat her in a fight so he faked amnesia, pretending he couldn't remember what happened.

He did however begin showing interest in herbs while in the medicine cat den. Soon he decided to become a medicine cat apprentice instead of a warrior. That way he can defeat his sister by saving one cat at a time.

[ OK THIS IS REALLY LONG I AM SO SORRY. i got really into the story ;; ]

ashenpelt used to have a very hardened heart and honestly used to be quite cruel. he had a difficult upbringing
and things never seemed to ever go his way. he would often start arguments with other cats over trivial things
that, although rarely, would escalate into a physical altercation. one always knows what ashenpelt is feeling or
thinking, as he is not afraid to voice his opinions, even if he is not involved in the conversation or matter. his
unagreeable personality and knack for starting fights almost caused him to be exiled from the clan. duststar,
the leader of no mans land, did not want to see ashenpelt exiled, as it was basically a death sentence in the
desert. they gave ashenpelt one last chance: successfully mentor and apprentice and be kind to them. at first
he refused, saying he would rather be exiled that deal with 'stupid young kits,' but he was really given no choice.
no apprentice wanted to be mentored by him and would often be seen begging with duststar about not letting
ashenpelt mentor them - except for one. a small she-cat, quite daredevilish and loud, almost immediately offered
to be mentored by him, as no cat wanted to mentor her either.

this relationship began with a rough start, as the two would butt heads over everything. the young apprentice was
a lot like ashenpelt in many ways; she was not afraid to voice her feelings and opinions and she was extremely
stubborn and hot-tempered. ashenpelt often times left her in the middle of the desert to try and get rid of her
or even going as far as to try and trap her in a nearby ravine. nevertheless, she was persistent and always found
her way back by ashenplet's side. they began to form a bond, even if it was almost non-existent, other cats began
to see a change manifesting in ashenpelt. the small apprentice, although she didn't know it, was about to soften
ashenpelt's heart. as the pair grew closer, ashenpelt began not only to treat his young apprentice more kindly,
but others as well. he was slowly but surely becoming the cat duststar knew he always was.

the real change happened one seemingly normal late afternoon when the pair were out on a last minute hunting
trip. they were candidly talking to each other without a hint of malice or annoyance, even laughing together
when the small apprentice tripped over a branch hidden beneath the sand. he helped her up and they were about
to set out once more when he noticed a large scorpion that had been dislodged from the sand along with the branch.
he shouted at her to move and pushed her out of the way to kill it, but it was already too late, she had been stung.
ashenpelt was thrown into a frenzy and immediately picked his apprentice up by her scruff and raced back to the
clan. although the scorpion did not release a full dosage of venom, the she-cat was small and it was more than
enough to kill her. he ran as fast as he could with his apprentice fading in and out of consciousness in his jaw.
upon arriving to the clan, he rushed over to the medicine cat's den, yelling at everyone to get out or move out
of his way. he explained the situation to the medicine cat, almost in a hysteria to which the cat asked him to leave
so they could get to work on saving the small she-cat. he waited outside of that den for hours, pacing or standing
guard at the entrance, not allowing anyone to enter until he knew what was going on. after what seemed like days
the medicine cat emerged from their den and smiled at ashenpelt, his beloved apprentice would be ok! he laughed
and thanked them profusely and rushed into the den. he was met with a soft smile and 'hello' from the small cat
and he smiled back with small tears in his eyes. this little she cat made ashenpelt into an entirely different cat.
a cat that duststar thought was worth staying in the clan. moreover, duststar saw how determined and selfless
he had become and offered him the spot of 'deputy' in the clan. ashenpelt declined, reminding duststar on how
awful he was in the past and how he was basically almost kicked out. some other cats around heard this and
encouraged him to accept the position of deputy, raging on how wonderful of a cat he has become and how they
really trust him with important decisions in the clan. he begrudgingly accepted and has been a pivotal member
of the clan ever since. he is still very close with his former apprentice and the two are often seen laughing together
often.

‘’ What are you asking me to do, Storm? Help you? I already told you to stop earlier, before it was too late. ’’ a hiss escaped his jaws, watching as the younger cat flinched, Storm’s gaze dropped to the ground, fidgeting, a voice only a whisper.

‘’I didn’t do it.’’ Elk’s face twisted into a scowl at his words, letting out a final hiss, before turning on his heel, getting ready to turn away. Until Storm’s voice stopped him, ‘’Elk… you know I didn’t do it, just please help me get out.’’ Elk halted, turning to face him, a glare appeared on his own face.

‘’I don’t believe you, kid. ’’ Turning away, he turned away into the shadows, and not even daring to turn back. A voice startled him, a familiar one too.

‘’ Hey Elk!’’ the molly’s voice turned anxious, as there was lack of response ‘’Hey, what’s wrong?’’ the molly gave him a gentle tap on the shoulder, eyes darkening. ‘’Elk, tell me.’’ he swallowed hard, letting his claws sink deep into the soil.

''Do you remember Storm?'' her head tilted at the mention of his name,

''Hmm, like the kid who fell in a hole? like-'' he interrupted,

''Yes.'' she paused for a second, a chuckle fell from her jaws, as if memories were replaying in her head. He waited for her to quiet before continuing. '' He... did something, bad, he says he didn't do it, and... I don't know if I should believe him.'' he could see her confusion, as she stiffened.

''It's up to you, Elk. I never truly knew him, but if you think he's still trustworthy, then...'' her gaze met his. '' You can believe him...'' He tensed, holding on to her words for days, remembering the kitten that fell into the hole, Storm. And all the words to describe him, Loyal, helpful, Clumsy, but yet Truthful. Trustworthy. and maybe Storm was still that same kitten, maybe. It was a chance he was willing to take.

''I'm coming, Storm, I do believe you, and I'm so sorry for not before.''
