Thank you very much for the chance! I'm gonna have to try to be creative with this as I don't have any storkies yet, so there's not exactly a colony to 'fit in' to, but I hope you like it none-the-less! It's more a beginning of how the colony was started. Though, there's no other Storkies yet. I hope it still counts though. I tried. Also, please don't mind if the writing is a bit bad - I don't write very often, esp not something this long.

The kit didn't know what they were getting into when they had wandered off on their own; but before they knew it, they truly
were alone. They couldn't find a single other Storkie in sight, much less some help or anyone they knew. They wandered aimlessly for hours on end, running into a few,,, rather unfriendly creatures along the way, having to continuously run until their little legs gave out underneath them and they fell into the mud by a creek. They whined quietly, slowly standing back onto their feet and doing their best to clean the mud off with a sigh.
It was pouring rain by the time they were finally settling in the dead part of a tree, where the decay had made a small hole the kit could hide themselves in. They were cold, wet and shivering as they stared out into the rain, looking up towards the top of the tree with a soft whine. They wrapped their tail around themselves and slowly laid down, letting their eyes shut and sleep take over.
They woke up to a nudge to their head, as if someone asking if they were still alive and breathing. Hesitantly, the kit looked up at what nudged them, meeting a Storkie they had never met before. A gray one, with fluffy, yet slightly matted, fur. The kit tilted their head, whispering out a weak "who are you?" to the stranger.
The older Storkie simply gave a soft, relieved smile and stood up straight, helping the small kit out of the tree, gently brushing off any remaining bark on their fur. The stranger never replied, only offered some food and water to them. They didn't know what to think.
They ended up staying with this adult for a few months, but not a full year. They were taught how to make the forest a proper home for themselves, how to make shelter, how to hunt, how to forage, how to take care of themselves.
They were grateful, truly, they couldn't thank that strange Storkie enough, but they still would never forgive the stranger for suddenly up and leaving one day. They didn't even say goodbye. The kit had just woken up and,,, They were gone.
Still, the kit knew they were taught these things for a reason, so they never let go of the knowledge, nor did they take it for granted. They set up a camp, willing and ready to take any other lost strangers, whether those were more kits or adults.
They would appreciate some friends to play with, that was for sure,,, After all, they were still a kit, weren't they?
They wanted to play. They wanted to nap. They wanted to dream. They wanted to learn, and to grow. But it seems life just didn't like the idea of them resting, either. Still, they kept up hope, never wanting to give up. One day,,, One day, they would get a true home, a true family to spend life with. And then, they could finally rest.
That's all they wanted.
Just some rest. But,,, They had to wonder. Where were the Storkies they were with months ago, before they got lost? Were they even searching for them? Or,,, were they abandoned from the beginning?Oh, how they wished to turn their thoughts off.
