They hold strong relationships with animals and plants and the homes where they live, helping with maintaining biodiversity of habitats. This was the same for Chaos too. He held many complex relationships with many different beings, acting as a bridge between the living and the dead, he was needed to maintain this status quo because without him the world would come crumbling down. Both mushrooms and him were needed for everything, the world cannot live without them.
