Mesa had watched the humans for some time, fascinated by their strange ways and technology. It was the crackle and bright lights of electricity that fascinated them most, and eventually they discovered all one needed was the right weather and something metal. They could bring the thunder, the electricity to a spot of their choosing, as long as they held the metal. With a bit of trial and error they fashioned a trinket, which they kept insulated by feathers and fur. Through many errors, eventually they discovered a shape that worked best, and were able to harness the power for themselves. It was not perfect, but by golly it was flashy!

How does lightning know of the highest point to strike? The same reasoning how water knows what the lowest point is. The path of least resistance from point A to point B, which is how this Arevia has some to familiarize itself with the storms of the skies. Closer to the clouds meant closer to the lightning, it strikes down upon itself and allows that electrical charge that crackles around its body.

To release it, the Arevia simply shoots on down at an alarming speed, causing the charged lightning to jump off in the direction is goes. With expert maneuvering and sharp perception, it is able to stop its movements before coming into harm, while letting the electric charge bolt free.

Bow was an aspiring archer. He had learned what this archery thing was when he discovered a long curved stick with a string on it and several other sticks with pointed rocks in front of it. He had wondered what it was for until his human picked up the contraption and led him outside to see a circular plank with rings of color on it.

His human had pulled back on the string and the stick with a pointy thing on it shot at the plank!

Bow was fascinated by this. The idea of a high-speed weapon just an arms-length away had scared him but also interested him.

One day, when his human wasn’t home, he struggled to reach the curved, stringed stick and pointy sticks, which were on the counter. But he had managed, somehow, and he was now carrying them in his mouth. He trotted on down to the garden where that circular plank was and got into the position he saw his human in. He pulled the string back, let go, and VWOOSH! Electricity came out from the back of the pointy stick in a blinding light.

Bow had flinched, shutting his eyes tightly. As he had pulled the string back, the electricity transformed him into an entirely different Arevia. He was no longer that silky blonde, he no longer had a muzzle. He was entirely black with a beak and with streaks of gold in his fur. Most importantly, he had wings. Bow took this as an opportunity to fly away, and he was never found again.
