colony link: https://toyhou.se/grassman/characters/folder:2771483prompt: Sanguis, meaning blood (because her parents weren’t the best namers), had been raised to kill, to use her blood magic to maim. They were the perfect hunter, never failing. One day though, Sanguis had set out to bring back a bear, an impossible task given by their colomy as a ‘rite of worth’. Their life’s course would be determined by this hunt. Everything boiled down to one moment and…Sanguis froze. The bear scratched and clawed at Sanguis’s back and tail, and when Sanguis brought up their leg to block another shot, the bear ripped that open too. Once the bear was satisfied Sanguis would end up succumbing to their wounds, it lumbered off into the undergrowth. However, it didn’t take in one precious little fact. Sanguis, using their blood magic, clotted the wounds immediately after the bear left. Standing up shakily, wincing in pain, they decided that if they returned to their colony, they would likely be exiled for failing to kill the bear. It’s would be better for their parents to believe they died an honorable death in battle. Then, they turned tail and left.
Wandering across forests, up mountains and down valleys, they searched for another colony. A place that had been myth in their old colony. It was said to have been surrounded by the strongest wards in the world, wards to dated back to the Paragons. Legend had it that it was protected by a shroud of mist and fog, allowing only the most worthy Storkatten through. Sanguis didn’t know where it was located, or even if the mist would let them through, but there was only one way to find out. So they searched and searched. Days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months. Finally, they came upon these hills. Wind whistled and whispered eerily, shaking tree branches and rustling leaves. Cold settled into their fur. Yet, none of this stopped Sanguis. They were determined to find this legendary colony, and this place would be but one more obstacle in their way. What they didn’t realize, was that they were already approaching the fantasy colony. The fog grew thicker, curling around Sanguis’s feet as they took each step. They shivered faintly as they felt the magic of the wards feel out for their own magic. Finally, Sanguis realized. This, this is the legendary colony. Feeling as if their soul was just bared to the world, for everycat to see, the wards finished combing through their magic, through their soul, judging if they would be a right fit for the colony. Standing there, stock still, Sanguis felt the magic of the ward push them through the last protection. They stepped though, and there stood a majestic mountain, with hills and valleys rolling around it. To their left lay an enormous lake, and to their right, they could see storkies of all kinds playing with each other, leaping and rolling, pouncing and grabbing. They thought,
oh, this is what life should be.
Even though many storkies view blood magic as a bad omen, and only able to be used for killing, Sanguis uses their gift to heal. They can sense what maladies the storkie they’re healing has in their blood (ie; viruses), and the state of their health through their blood. They can also help speed up the process of healing, such as helping along the process of blood clotting. It’s also well known that blood runes are stronger than most other runes, and Sanguis uses their affinity for blood magic to tie in blood with rituals. They create the strongest runes of protection, luck and good health, as taught to them by the local arcane storkie in the colony.
