name: Khalida (Nickname is Kali)
prompt: Despite his somewhat intimidating appearance, Kali is actually quite the curious type and tends to wander around, sometimes even getting him into trouble! On one such night, Kali heard the laughter of humans nearby and, wondering at the cause of their merriment, drifted closer to see them for himself. They seemed to be oddly dressed and wore masks of other creatures, many unknown to him. Stands were placed around a rough semi-circle, filled to the brim with sweet-smelling snacks, masks, and other odd trinkets that the humans seemed enjoy. Inquisitive as always, Kali crept closer towards one of the food stands...he only wanted a taste, that's all! Focused as he was upon his anticipated treat, he didn't notice his tail catch on one of the nearby stand's banners, and when he darted forward to claim his prize...the nearby stand tipped right on over! Only seeing a long tail whipping about from under the overturned table, the people panicked and ran...but not everyone. A little girl slowly approached the mess and watched as Kali slowly wriggled out from underneath, and looked straight into his eyes when he raised his head...and she smiled. She knew somehow that this odd creature was not there to harm them, but instead to join in on the fun. Still smiling gently, she placed her small, pudgy hand on his face and felt that he was chilled from the autumn air. Then, she reached up to unwind the long scarlet scarf from around her shoulders and placed it on Kali, whispering to him "Stay warm...and join us again next year...may the spirits bless you", before she turned to follow after her parents. Kali didn't quite understand what happened that night, but he knew a gift was to be treasured and so the scarf became a part of him, much the same as an arm or his claws. From that night on, whenever he felt the seasons shift, he would be reminded of that night, and how a warm touch chased away the cold.
