out in the snow, its hard to gain friends. many huskys tend to keep to themselves, gaining attachments was risky. the snow could be harsh during most nights. even through their double coat, some husky’s have never woken up from their swirl because of the cold. so when a white and blue spitz walked up to antares one day, to say she was shocked would be an understatement. the spitz sat down next to her and passed off a share of the dinner for the night. “names aethra, saw you were lookin’ lonely over here.”

“uh, yeah, a little i guess.” antares spoke back, confused but grateful for the extra food. “thank you for the meal, aethra. my names antares.” she quickly dived in after her thanks. on days like today, the dogs that pull more get a larger meal. because of antares smaller build, she wasn’t used as often to pull.

aethra chuckled, “saw you could use it.” she settled down next to antares, tucking her paws close together but spreading out her back legs. she’s sunbathing, antares thought. they both huddled down, antares mimicking aethra’s position, stretching her legs out as well.

they sat like that for a while, all the way into the night. “say,” antares said, “its going to be cold tonight, want to sleep close?” she brushed up against aethra, to emphasize her point. aethra nodded and cuddled closer. from that night on, aethra split her meal when possible, and they embraced during the night.
