Species' currency is two things
The first; Star-Shards, triangular cracked-gemstones
that represent one corner of a Star-Gem
The Second; Star-Gems, Star shaped polished gemstones
that are highly sought after by TTGs'

Five Star-Shards = One Star-Gem
One Star-Shard = 12c$
One Star-Gem = 50c$ (15% value compared to buying five Star-Shards)
