Character notes! I have a LOT of ideas for them
- a visitor from another world; a planet that was destroyed. They and a handful of others managed to escape in small spacecraft, but they got separated as the destroyer pursued them. Aileen eventually crashed down in a forest in the Land of Dreams. They were pretty badly injured when another lambie found them & took them in
- rescuer lambie still pending, hmmm... perhaps fit w an existing lamb of mine or create a new one
- they don't have pronouns or any concept of gender on their planet and its a fairly new concept to them; they're fine with any pronouns but typically stick to they/them bc it's the most neutral
- true name is unpronounceable in any language of the Land of Dreams
- they go by Aileen bc their rescuer called them an alien and they thought they said something that sounded like "Aileen". Their rescuer then went "huh... that's a pretty name" and Aileen agreed and liked it; so they decided to use it seeing as no one in the Land of Dreams can actually pronounce their name jdhdgjfh
- gets really confused about idioms and Dreamlands technology, not to mention social customs and all sorts of other things
- cannot "speak" verbally; their vocal chords are not built for Dreamlands languages. communicates by speaking directly into the mind; psionically. Their psionic voice has a strange buzzing quality to it, almost like multiple voices speaking in unison.
- they CAN make sounds native to their language verbally, such as clicking, guttural growling, buzzing, whistling, and chirping noises. Can also produce ultra & infrasound
- can use echolocation to see in the dark by releasing an unearthly screech that is too high-pitched for Lambie ears to hear. Ears can also pick up infrasound & ultrasound, and are very sensitive to vibrations. As such, Aileen does not like loud noises.
- eats mainly normal food, but its very different than what they're used to and they're having a hard time adjusting. Sometimes they get confused about what is food and what isn't; which results in them trying to eat random household objects n such. The closest thing to their former food source in the Land of Dreams are flowers and fungi; once they figure that out they'll probably stick to eating those.
- their tongue is prehensile and used to grab food! they swallow their food whole & digest it using their 3 stomachs and highly acidic stomach acid
- eyes can see very well in dim lighting; their planet was mostly dimly lit & covered in mists. They cannot see in pitch darkness, and are sensitive to bright lights. Each pair of eyes can move independently of the others; giving them multiple views at once.
- they cannot eat things with their tailmouth; its purpose is for combat! Their alien race would fight primarily using their muscular tails and the mouths are meant for gripping onto their opponents. the tips are also prehensile & they can hold small objects
- the spines on their back aren't stiff; they move! Usually they raise/flatten with mood
- the bony spikes on their shoulders & nose are more for show than anything; most lambies from their homeworld had some form of spikes there. Aileen's are very small bc they weren't noble-born or high-ranking in society
- claws were made for traction in the damp boggy climate of their planet
- skin is not necessarily wet to the touch, but smooth kind of like an amphibian's.
- skin exudes slime as a defence mechanism when they get nervous (kind of like sweat, but grosser). The slime is a mild neurotoxin that causes vivid hallucinations. It's okay to touch it but wash your paws/hooves after! Just don't eat it that's probably a bad idea
- their planet had high levels of radiation, and though they are not technically radioactive themself they are immune to the effects of radiation.
- home planet area was humid and temperatures never got below freezing. As such, they are very bad in cold weather
- they also don't do well in dry weather; they need a humidifier running constantly
- they are illiterate to Dreamlands languages; their written language is very different and looks more like a glyph or sigil than anything. They do have "letters" that represent different sounds, but in a word they are all layered on top of one another. Written sentences are connected by a line, with a glyph marking the beginning and end of a sentence.
- polyamorous! Most of their planet is/was. also technically pansexual bc they have no concept of gender
- they really like space/stars and are very interested in astronomy/constellations
