Prompt: The stench makes him reel, lip curling. He turns to the old couple, nervously hoping their wine will be approved for sale. It's crude but all they know how to make. No one said this job would be easy, though it has been for Morello.
"It's awful," Morello says, dropping the bottle in the trash. "Sorry, but I can't bring myself to drink it. The wine's gone past the point of fermenting. It's vinegar."
The couple's faces fall. Morello adjusts his satin tie, face as expressionless as the best poker players. He turns away before he has to see them cry. Emotions have never been his forte, and yet they seem to hit him at the most inconvenient times lately. Like when he was visiting his mother's grave, he suddenly remembered another young hyena's shop he had to shut down. He wasn't actually doing the shutting really, just being hired by landlords who want to shift the guilt away from their shoulders and onto his. There wasn't actually anything wrong with they hyena, and that really bothered him. But the hyena couldn't pay rent. So they had to leave.
But Morello can't shake the thought. Did they really need to leave? Everything was cut and dry until then. He knew they all deserved what they got, many of them trying to sell goods that were scams and the like. But Morello's morality has been getting to him lately. These jobs... these lions and hyenas didn't deserve this. He isn't sure what to do. He loves his posh life, but at the expense of others? That's something he'd have to think about as he's never considered it before.
