prompt; Sonia cheered, pumping her fist in the air. It was her first Christmas by herself, and she would be buying a tree and decorating her home on her own for the first time! When she was young, her mother couldn't afford an actual, live tree, so she always grew up with fake, plastic trees. There's nothing wrong with them, of course! Sonia has just always wanted a pine tree in her home for the holidays. I mean, she's never even seen a real pine tree!
Getting in her car, she drove into town and to the Christmas trees being sold. Parking, she threw open her car door and stepped outside, eyes shining. She was so excited, she couldn't wait to find the perfect tree! Skipping to the orange tent, she walked under it, immediately stopping in front of the trees. Leaning towards them, she began to look them over, before freezing. The smell was overwhelming, and brought tears to her eyes. Not good ones.
Rubbing her eyes, Sonia coughed, glancing at the trees in front of her. Backing away from the trees, Sonia caught her breath, waving her hand in front of her face. Excitement all but disappearing, she frowned, staring at the trees. She had no idea that she was allergic to the classic Christmas tree.
Sighing, she turned around and walked back to her car, covering her mouth while still coughing lightly. She opened the door and sat, eyes narrowed. She wasn't sure what to do now--frowning, she pulled out her phone, searching for an alternative that wouldn't trigger her apparent allergies. Scrolling through countless articles, Sonia read every one, before a certain one caught her eye. It detailed a tree called a "leyland cypress," a tree that produced no pollen and looked close enough to a pine in her opinion. Eyes lighting up once more, she began to look up tree farms around her, calling around to see if any had leyland cypresses. The first couple didn't, but the third did.
Starting her car, Sonia began the drive to the farm, a smile on her face. When she got there, she practically ran to the front, a giant smile on her face. Greeting the workers, she began to search for the cypress trees while she covered her face, glaring at the pines.
Finding what she was searching for, she began her quest to find the best cypress! Er, not before looking up how to properly choose a tree. Going through the steps listed on the website she found, she picked a perfect tree, beaming. Getting the help of the workers at the tree farm, Sonia loaded the tree onto her car and began the drive home, thoughts running through her head at how she could potentially decorate her tree. While it wasn't exactly what she wanted, and her original plans were completely ruined due to surprise allergies, she was still ecstatic, and couldn't wait to show off her tree to her mother.
