Mud Buried Earthworm was born with the tailmouth. It's always been part of them, thinking and speaking of its own free will. They came to see their tailmouth like a sibling that they could never escape. Their tailmouth was rather weird, even for The Fen Colony. Many cats were mystified by it and some were even horrified, always treating Earthworm strangely.

The tailmouth didn't help Earthworm's case any, making whatever comments and movements it pleased, often being quite rude to the cats of Fen Colony and even threatening a few. Eventually, feeling a mixture of resentment towards their tail and unwelcome in the colony, Mud Buried Earthworm left, choosing to live on their own on the fen with their tail.

With no one else to talk to, the tail began directing all their comments at Earthworm, bothering them constantly and often making them miserable. There were times Earthworm considered cutting their tail off, but would that not be taking a life? If the tail could think and speak of its own free will, didn't that make the tail its own being? Earthworm couldn't bring themself to do it. Instead they chose to continue on, alone with their tail, trying their best to make peace with it.

Prompt: Briar has always had a curious relationship with his twin of sorts. The tail mouth attached to Briar has been affectionately nicknamed by his host Thorn, and the two are both physically and metaphorically inseparable. They were raised, to the best of their parents abilities, as two siblings and were given as much care as could be offered them. Briar and Thorn, despite being raised by the same parents, couldn't have turned out more different. Briar is all positivity, always optimistic and energetic, while Thorn is a pessimist through and through, sulking most days and grumbling the rest of his time. Between the two of them is a rational outlook on the world. They've both saved each other's necks a good number of times, Thorn reminding Briar that people aren't as good as he thinks they are, and Briar convincing Thorn to take that chance because it might turn out better than he's leading himself to believe. They're friends, one could say, though they definitely butt heads and disagree due to their completely opposite ideologies. Briar is always looking on the bright side and Thorn always on the dark, so of course they bicker about things-- what makes them friends regardless of this is the fact that they always find some solution between their two extreme viewpoints and they make an effort to understand the other's perspective, and become closer as a result. They're still both young and naive to the world, having not experienced many cats outside their small loner family unit who are all familiar with their odd situation, but they have one another, and one thing they both share is a curious spirit. They both love adventuring and get along together swimmingly when there's something new and exciting to explore.Their back is never unguarded, because they have eyes on both sides, and they're never without company because they always have one another! They make all sorts of small talk as they try new routes in their family's small territory, and dream of one day finding land yet undiscovered to make a clan out of. Ever since they were kits, they've had big dreams about exploring the world and seeing all there is to see. They're an imaginative pair-- even pessimistic Thorn-- and they like to talk together about their imaginary worlds and dreams. In this way they bring out the best in one another-- they level out each other's extremes and support one another in their endeavors, they are each other's best friend and confidant. They tell each other everything-- not that they have a whole lot of choice, since they do share a body-- but they bare their thoughts to one another often, and feel like the other really gets them. They think of each other as brothers and best friends both with a bond closer than their opposite personalities may lead one to believe, but they're thankful they were born they way they were each and every day, because they always have each other!

Flickingcandle looked back at her..tail. Yeah, thats what she called this living thing. "Im not an object to be stared at." it muttered. Flickingcandle sighed. "Yeah yeah, its just, new." she padded forward to stalk a mouse. The tail had the sense to keep quiet, though started talking when it went limp. "Well, get used to a talking tail." he chimed flatly. Flickingcandle rolled her eyes and crouched to eat the mouse. The tail-mouth came forward and sniffed. "Oh no you don't, this is for me." hissed Flickingcandle. The tailmouth seemed to frown. Flickingcandle sighed and cut off some of the mouse, threw it at the tailmouth, and chomped down herself.
