Cat Name: Webwhisker
Gender: dfab
Rank: Warrior
Clan: (cc)
Age: 13 moons
Prompt:
Webwhisker is a newly appointed warrior. She is still in that apprentice mentality, even though her place in the clan has been promoted. She is an eager cat, and questions just about everything she comes across, which is part of the reason why she was such a great apprentice. She asks all the right questions, and she is given an educated response from her mentor.
It was the morning. She had stayed up all night in the cold beginning of newleaf, serving her vow of silence until sunhigh. Her previous mentor had woken up, and greeted her. "How was the night?" Nodding asleep, she suddenly got up, shocked by the sudden voice.
"Oh, it's just you." She gasped and covered her mouth with her tail. Her mentor chuckled. "It's fine, your vow of silence is over."
She sighed in relief. "Phew, thank Starclan. I was going to die without anyone to talk to." Her mentor purred with relief. "Go get some sleep, Webwhisker. You deserve it, and we can't have our newest warrior slacking off, can we?" She smiled and nodded. She got up, and raced to the den, careful to be quiet while approaching the entrance. She stepped in and most of the warriors were curled up in their nests, a few getting up for the sunhigh patrol. One warrior, Wavetail, greeting her with a swipe of his tail as he exited the den. "Your nest is right here." he said, pointing with his tail to one of the nests on the side of the den. Not a bad spot, it might get drafty though. She walked over to it. The moss was fresh, and there were even a couple feathers in there for her. She smiled. This was going to be great, she thought. She got into the nest, and circled around a few times to get comfortable. She settled in and finally went to sleep, her first time sleeping in the warriors den.
----
It is now noon
----
Sniff. *Achoo!* Webwhisker woke abruptly from her slumber. She looked around to see that she was the only one in the den. What made me sneeze? she thought. She looked around, but couldn't spot anything. She tilted her head in confusion then out of nowhere, she caught a glimpse of a spider, sliding down her face. She gasped, not knowing what it was at first and trying to take it off. She felt it crawl onto her paw, so she lightly put her paw down to examine the creature. It was small, and plump little spider. "Aww, it's so cute!" she whispered. She watched as the spider crawled from her paws, then to her tail, back to her paws again. She observed it carefully, not really knowing what it was, letting her curiosity consume all of her thoughts. Suddenly, the deputy walked inside of the den. "Come on Webwhisker, it's time-" he paused and stared at her. "Oh, you're awake? What are you still doing in here?" Webwhisker excitedly showed him the the spider. "Look, I found it in my nest! Cute right?" The deputy rolled his eyes. "Sure. Now come on, we are going hunting today. Newleaf will be here officially any day now, and we need to hunt for the queens." Webwhisker nodded. "I'll be out before you can say 'rabbit-muncher'!" As the deputy nodded and made his way out, she went back to her nest and plopped the spider down. "I'll be back for you soon, little one. Don't go anywhere!" She then left the den, eager to start her first day as a warrior.

circling, skipping across the shores of amber, the shadows were there. silently watching. they were the silent villains that have not yet made their move. the ones that had always gone by, unnoticed, untouched.

a bead of mellow light flecked the skies, reflecting, dancing off of the ripple of the sea. the hearts of kits were intoxicated with bliss, lavishing in the sweet comfort of the waves that lapped at their glistening fur. she longed for a chance to be like one of them.
free and able to live without a care of the world. but, that once in a life-time moment had long since faded away, snatched from her grasp, like a falling star in the night.

her wildest dreams as a wishing child had dwindled away, twisting her in ways, she would’ve never fathomed. now, it was too late to change what fate had cast upon her.

she had become so much more different, far from the dainty child, she once was. now, there was a certain separation between her and all the loving, light-hearted dreamers that surrounded her. she had more logic, rather than imagination. more hate, than forgiveness and was more hesitant than the others to dance across the shoreside. ashamed of what the stars might think of her. it was a clear contrast to the ones who danced for hope. for love. for peace.

she knew the dreamers adored her. accepted her for who she was. but was it enough?

gentle strokes resembling the sweet feeling of tickles, bloomed down her spine. she jumped. locks of auburn fur tangled with reality, a low hiss dancing from her lips. “seriously, what is it? i have quite enou-”

blinking as a spiral of tiny legs greeted her with wide-open arms, dark, beady eyes stared up at her, inquisitive as ever. it was just a spider. a flaw to the perfect morning skies.

with an outstretched paw raised to bring force down on the innocent soul, the gleam in those small eyes ushered her to a slight pause. it reminded her… of someone.
someone, she could barely remember.
fingers just barely glimpsing the surface of her skin, the pads along the sides of her paws had come away wet, soggy with...
tears.

but, there was no reason for them.

no, no, no.
pull it together, camellia, for…

the twinkle of reality seemed to freeze, silence layering across the canvas of what seemed to be eternity. for who? her thoughts ached to understand the symphony of her heart.

then, it all came to her. like a veil being torn from the rooftops.
rhene. be strong for rhene.

that cheeky, little cat. he meant so much to her, almost like the brother, she never had. how could she have let him slip from her mind? his sly grin. the sparkle in his eyes. it was almost as if he had come to life in the fantasies of her mind.

he was gone, now. but she would always have him with her, in the spirit. her little spider.

a bare contrast to the warning tone of earlier, her voice softened, almost on the verge of breaking apart like glass against stone. the crawl of tiny legs against her skin was a silent comfort, rather than a nuisance that needed to be dealt with. a reassuring hug that was far from an embrace. the fire of her temper had been broken apart, ripped open and left to flutter out into nothing, but a distant warmth. “go on, little guy. live and live well.”

Congrats! A spider reminding her of someone she's lost was an interesting twist I was not expecting!
