Sunset walks through the coconut trees and says “I wish thes visions would stop.” She shakes her head and opens her eyes and sees ghosts and undead creatures lurking and she whimpers and looks around. As a female blue lambicorn walks up and smiles and says “hello young one I’m ghost” she swishes her tail and flicks her upright ears. She watches sunset intently and says “your dead correct?” Sunset pond her gears and says “no I. Not I’m mortal” the ghost shifts uncomfortablely and says “well it might be a chance”

She had never intended for things to go this way. She didn't remember how they did either. The last thing she could recall... was falling. Falling down, down, down. Then nothing, just absolute emptiness, a dark space.

Dusk woke up falling as well. Tumbling down from a tree, with a splitting headache. How she got it, she didn't know. How she got there, she didn't know either. In fact, she couldn't remember a single thing. Not where she was born or came from, not how old she was, nor what the heck she was doing. All she knew was one thing, and that was that her name was Dusk.

As for the splitting headache... it wasn't a normal one either. Strange images flickered behind her closed eyelids, some with brilliant lights, some with a pitch darkness that she didn't quite understand, and others filled with strange creatures. Sometimes, the images glitched, sending her tumbling to the ground, muscles tense, feeling like her head was going to crack open.

After the initial shock subsided and the first headache faded away, Dusk staggered up onto her paws and hooves. "O-ow..." she managed, reaching up with a paw to press against her temples. After a deep breath, she set her paw back down and took a moment to get her bearings. Looking around anxiously, she noted that there was some kind of... weird aura in the area. There were no words for it, it just felt kind of out of place.

Scape looked at the portals laid out in front of them. They couldn't go through either... not yet...

Both of the portals led to the same general place... but... they were too different... waaaay too different.

Through the first portal, to their left they could see, a world of devastation, fear, and war. But also, hope. Hope for a better future. There were many in pain, but they were comforted with hooves, wings, paws, words all around.

In the second, they could see a group of Lambicorns having a picnic in a meadow, having fun... joy and happiness... but there was still ones in pain. However, those ones in pain, well most of them, put on a mask and hid it away. Especially the one with blue hair... were these Lambis afraid to tell the others? Were they really willing to take on the burden alone? Or... was there something else holding them back?

Scape shook their head and sighed. They have considered the question many times, knowing that in order to escape from the place where they had been imprisoned for years... they would have to choose...

"But how can I choose if I can't decide which world I want to live in?"

The world was falling apart, making way for a new one. The people and animals she had fallen in love with would be cycled into a new era, free to start a new path. But, she tried to argue with the gods, she did not want a new path. She wanted to keep the old. There was nothing wrong with it after all! It was perfect! But she was told it was not her decision to make, that it would happen no matter what she did.

And it did.

She fought hard to help those she could, to keep together anything close. When she awoke, she found herself in a strange void of sorts. She wasn't alone, those she had tried to save were there with her as well. The remnants of a broken world, trapped.

But she could see the new world not so far ahead, waiting for them all to run forward and embrace it. But. Should they? Or could they try and rebuild the old, make something better? She knew her answer, but she also knew it would come with a high cost as well.

What worlds are you stuck between, Effa?
"Between the world of the waking, and the world of sleep!" She declares,
tossing her paws out at either side. There are dark bags under her eyes, and
you can tell she's being serious about this... if it were anyone else, you'd have
doubted them. But not Effa. She didn't tell lies or pull pranks, at least... not
like this, she didn't. She was always a good-natured, hard-working girl, so...
when she told you she had a serious problem that she needed to talk about,
you believed her whole-heartedly, and you sat down with her to hear what the
troubled girl had to say. That's why you were so surprised when Effa said she was
stuck between worlds-- specifically, of waking and of dreams. It sounded silly,
you couldn't help but think, like some sort of fairy tale...

"I'm not kidding!" She adds. She must've seen the doubt in your eyes. She sure
does look tired. "You have to believe me. It's not like how everyone else has it,
where they wake up and experience the normal world, then they go to bed and
experience their dreams! It's not like that for me. When I wake up-- I still see
my dreams, and when I go to bed, I still see bits of real life leaking through. They're
contaminating one another, and I can't tell whether I'm awake, asleep, or just
daydreaming anymore... It's so confusing!" She sighs, and her ears droop a bit.

"It all started when I finally got rid of Mister Teddison, my stuffed teddie from when
I was a kid. I just... I thought I'd outgrown my imaginary friend. I know it's silly, because
I'm too old for imaginary friends, but... but he meant a lot to me, and it was hard
to let him go. He had been my imaginary friend for so long-- we went on so many
adventures together in my childhood dreams! But I gave him up to a family friend,
who had a lambaby who needed an imaginary friend more than I did... ever since I
gave him up, my dreams have been leaking into reality! Out of the corner of my eye,
I'll see all sorts of silly things, like cotton candy skies and chocolate fountains, and
make-believe characters I had imagined up as friends when I was young. I have no idea
what's causing it, but I feel like the two worlds are blurring together, and I'm stuck
in the inbetween! I can't ever just be awake anymore, and I can't ever just be asleep
either, because being asleep is just like being awake!" She holds her head in her paws
and sighs, "What am I going to do? I'm so lost..."

You meekly propose that she try... talking to them? The imaginary friends, you mean.

"Talking to them...?" She echoes back to you, looking at you with a face of pure
disbelief.

You suggest that maybe they know what's going on.

"Well... maybe..." She replies quietly, "I hadn't thought about that before... I guess
it was a little rude of me, to stare at them from the corners of my eyes without ever
saying hi..." She blushes a bit, apparently now embarrassed by her perceived poor manners.
"I'll give it a shot! Maybe they can help me figure out what's causing the worlds to collide,
so we can fix it together! Gosh, I just really need a proper night's rest!" She smiles, and gives
you a big hug, "Thanks so much for your advice!! You're such a good friend!!" You feel like
Effa might be about ready to break your back, she's squeezing so tight... oh well, that's your
energetic, peppy best friend for you! You really hope this pep talk helped, and that she's
able to figure out what's going on-- it's abnormal to see her so worn out, and you hope
she's back to her usual bubbly self soon!

I loved how the story was very simple but still very interesting.
