The smaller, the fragile
Those fluttering suns
Dance with them, friend
The night’s just begun!
Those blinking stars that dance in the night
If you happen to catch one, with hoof or paw
(In this case a hoof may reveal an unfortunate flaw)
Grasp it close, hold it tight!

And yet, far above this glimmering ball,
The waltz of a lifetime, the best of them all,
Are lights of an unfathomable size.
Do you have the wits or the gall,
To travel to where the stars fly?
Come closer, yet closer,
No, not too close!
Even stars that burn coldly
Still burn at a roast

Perhaps it is wise, at the end of the day
To keep your hooves on the ground,
To dance with the lightning-bugs, in those shimmering crowds
Perhaps it is wise, instead of casting away,
To, just for a while, stick around
But let your head and your heart live over the clouds.
