The Opalite. This beautiful stone is similar in name to the opal, but incredibly different in design. While an opal comes in a variety of shades, all beautifully marbled, the opalite has only two different colourations - natural and human-made. Emiko loves both of them, the gorgeous green colour of the natural stone, dappled with gold and blue shades like the ocean, and the delicate, pastel, cloudy and dreamlike surface of the synthetic opalite.

Why? The simple reason being that they remind her of the things she loves most: the forest, and the snow. She adores the greenery in the lush forest surrounding the reserve, with it's many shades and warm, comforting feeling. Even more, she loves the bright white of snow, though it isn't as pure as it seems: she always watches for the glints of other colours reflecting onto its icy surface.

The colours are what she likes most, the deep blue calms her mind, the flecks of gold and silver helps her connect her subconscious to her "higher self". The stone she carries with her at all time helps her to be more confident in her body and able to act like her self.

She believes that in her past life she might've had a crystal on her forhead because she has a circle there. She likes to imagine that she had a lapis lazuli there in place of her third eye chakra to help with intuition and wisdom. [118 words]

Some may call me insane though I find the stone called jet being my favorite crystal. It may look like a simple black rock but it is so much more than that. It provides the owner or wearer with protection by drawing out negative energy. Also helps alleviate unreasonable fears of the owner. Honestly, it is overall a stone of protection that is what we all want in our lives. Making its properties something that draws me towards it. It is also in the lowest rank of coal yet still considered a gemstone. It comes from petrified wood which to me is so interesting. A gemstone which isn't a standard mineral but a mineraloid. It is a complex gemstone and shows that there is always more then meets the eye.
