Gender: Female
Height: 17.7 hands
Halter Color: Black
Beach story:

:Setting: Pink sunset beach

Snow sat on the shore of Saltwater Cove, letting the waves wash up over her hooves. The sky looked as if Someone had spread pink cotton candy all over. She closed her eyes to listen to the blissful quiet and peace. The wind gently tugged at her mane and tail, which flowed gracefully in the breeze. Snow turned her head to see a little crab scuttle towards her feet. A wave crashed over it, washing it away to the setting sun. As she sat up, she shook the sand off of her coat, then trotted off to her little grotto, where she lay, and waited for the gift of sleep to come to her.

[ range trotter #127 ] entry

      barn name: zephyr
      gender: stallion
      height: 16.2 hh
      halter color: maybe #df915e

sand kicked-up around the stallions’ hooves as he tread the coast. his eyes never strayed from the ground that lay before him at each step of his loose gait, watching his broad hooves scrape the earth as it pushed him onward. but he suddenly paused, stood utterly still for a mere moment in time, before curving his neck to view the ocean at his side.

the tide was just beginning to rise as the sunset peeked over the horizon. its gentle crests fell to the incline and crawled from the ocean’s basin to lap at the stallion’s hooves, just barely dampening their edges. waves continued to rise and fall in the distant waters. though looming in certain threat, there was a particular urging of the churning waters that zephyr couldn’t quite pinpoint the source of. just how he longed to wade into the blue waters, feel it pushing and pulling against his muscular frame, testing the grip of his hooves on the ground below. how he longed to dip his nose into the salty substance and taste it on his tongue, no matter the unpleasant residue. perhaps he’d push his head deeper into the abyss, completely submerged, out of sight.

how he wished to disappear in a place so mysteriously beautiful, never to be seen again.

but these were simply thoughts, daydreams, notions no individual could really partake. so he cast his eyes from the choppy sea and tread onward, this time his hooves splashing into the rising tide beneath him. he pushed along for what seemed like hours, struggling against the sand that resisted at each step. the final rays of sunshine had disappeared beneath the ocean’s ridge and a bright crescent of the moon rose in its place. with it followed the stars, hundreds and thousands of them blinking like twinkling fireflies in the darkness of night. but the coast was never dark. it was bright, despite the lack of the sun.

this time, zephyr did not hesitate. he waded into the shallow waters, the chilling substance lapping around his body, spraying into his eyes. he continued on, far enough until he was just barely able to keep his head and neck above the waters. but bore his eyes into the distant horizons that laid before him, where stars reflected against the great crests that rose and fell with each heartbeat. a minute passed, a moment more. the stallion took a deep breath, his nostrils flaring, the brine smells engulfing him. his lips barely lapped the surface.

suddenly, a whinny shrieked from behind him. it was saga, a mare zephyr knew well. zephyr! it called.

the stallion’s lips quivered against the surface of the ocean’s water──a kiss, a farewell. he then turned his frame against the tide and waded from its chilling grasp to the night air that welcomed him once more. with a quick toss of his head, his mane spewing droplets of water into the air around him, zephyr trotted toward the mare and greeted her with a rumbling nicker that reverberated from his chest. i’m alright. it seemed to say. i’m right here.

saga bumped her nose to the stallion’s own, still damp with seawater and lingering with the taste of salt. she curved her neck toward the sandy dunes behind, which lead to areas beyond. come. she signaled. she then turned away.

zephyr took one final glance over his shoulder to the sea. it called for him like a siren. it teased him with its serene rise and fall of its waves, the soothing ambiance of the tide rising and receding from the coastline. but no, now was not the time. and so he turned away, leaving its beauty, and followed the mare to places beyond.
