name reason; though "ki" can have multiple meanings, in this case Ki's is named after the mathematical concept. The Ki constant symbolizes the dissociation constant, where a large molecule has the (reversible) tendency to dissociate into smaller components. Ki also symbolizes the equilibrium constant in a dissociating reaction.

However, I'll have to pick this one, because I love, love love the interesting name origin? I learnt something new, and I had to read it several times to work out what it was saying aha ^^;
