Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 5
Username: honeybunchesofoats
Buttermilk: Darian
Prompt:

Darian stomped into the farmer's market dressed head to toe in full camo gear. She definitely looked a little crazy but it seemed as if she wasn't even giving it any thought. Kiri jogged close behind her, less decked out in gear, but she did have camo eye black smudged under her eyes. She snickered at the concerned looks people were giving her best friend.

"Princess are you sure that all of this is really necessary? I mean it's just a-"

"There is...no way...you are going to tell me this is just. a. duck!" Darian set down a heavy-looking bag in the center of the square and knelt to the ground, beginning to pull out all sorts of intricate supplies. "I have had elite, best that money could buy, hunting and tracking skills. And this duck. THIS DUCK... had the audacity to evade one of my traps. It's nonsense. I will catch this duck if it is the last thing I do." Her voice was filled with determination.

Kiri shook her head but kneeled down to meet Darian. She started lifting the heavier items and got them lined up for the princess to see easily. "So then, what's the plan? Obviously the trap didn't work..." Kiri was clueless, but Darian leaped at the chance to tell her. "So..." Darian hovered her hands over her arsenal of gear and picked up...the smallest thing she could find.

"Princess how is that going to-" Kiri was cut off as Darian raised the instrument to her lips and blew. The sounds of quacking came from the instrument and Kiri covered her ears. "There's no way that's gonna..." Soon one by one, a parade of ducks came to sit by Darian and quick back at her, however, none of them were the duck they were looking for.

"You see...this duck is smarter than average I'm telling you...so we need to use combined tactics here. I'll call it, we'll set up more traps with food, maybe we'll even use another duck. Either way...we are nabbing this duck." She leaped up from the ground causing the ducks to sir and waddle off. The piled the tools back in her bag and nodded her head. "Let's go catch a duck!"

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 5
Username: Namida_☾
Buttermilk: Adalind
Prompt:
Adalind hadn’t really had a chance to calm down. She was still mad, because the duck problem had bothered her the whole day. She had tried to figure out a plan on how to catch that duck the whole day, but did she now have one? Nope. She had absolutely no plan on how she was going to catch that duck. But did she want to admit that she wasn’t calm at all and had no plan? Also no. She had always tried to raise Clara in being calm and that she shouldn’t get mad over small things, so she wasn’t going to show that she was mad about this problem either. After all, she was still trying to be a good role model. So instead of admitting the she was still mad with no plan, she just said, “well, so I’ve had the whole day to think about our situation. Our problem is that the duck is roaming around freely causing trouble, right? Right. And the whole thing started because you wanted to bring the ducks to a safe place for them and for all of us, but that duck did not want to go, but wanted to stay where he was. So, what if, we build a fence around the pond area? That way, the duck stays safe at the pond with no way that he can roam around at the booths of the market and cause trouble, right?“ While saying that, Adalind was well aware that this plan wasn’t going to solve their problem of how to actually catch the duck. But honestly she had no other idea than that and it would at least cause them less trouble. And she figured by the time they had a fence set up around that area, she would have figured out an actual plan on how to capture that duck.

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 5
    username: surfingmars
    buttermilk: Locty + barn
    prompt:
Locty eventually came upon the decision that food would be his best bet on catching the duck. He realized that grapes weren’t completely fool proof, and that his source of that information might’ve been a bit faulty. After careful consideration he chose to follow the route of using produce stands to track where the duck went during the day, as it seemed to favor mucking up those particular booths over others. He figured that after a few days he would be able to start seeing a pattern, therefore he’d know just where the duck would be. Locty knew he would have to be sneaky with this plan, as the duck seemed to know when someone was looking for it. Because of this, Locty decided to enlist the help of Daffy, she was the one that needed the duck after all. The two would switch out every other day to follow the path of the duck. They would then meet up and discuss where the duck had gone and where they thought it would go the next day.

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 2
    Username: Micki.

    Buttermilk: Halley
    Prompt:
Halley grinned as she thought about all the mischief and chaos the duck had already caused. There was something so amusing and - quite frankly, downright awesome - about a duck being able to cause so much mayhem. Still, Halley knew that she needed to catch him. After all, she had promised she would return him unharmed.

Just as she was thinking about what a shame it was going to be to put an end to the chaos, her girlfriend appeared beside her, bouncing up and down with joy, "So? Have you caught the duck yet?"

"Not yet," Halley admitted, an amused smirk spreading across her face, "But I will."

"Oh ya? How?" Laurel questioned, raising an eyebrow, "I just mean, well, you haven't caught him yet..."

Halley nodded and mumbled, a little more to herself than to Laurel, "I know, I know, but I will. The hunt takes patience - it always does. You know that by now."

"So you're not going to do anything differently?"

Another mischievous, wide grin played itself out on the young woman's features as she shook her head, "Not one thing. I'm just going to keep following the clues until I succeed. I'm sure he can't be more difficult to find than that eastern slopeback dragon was."

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 6
Username: ♔Voltaire♔
Buttermilk: Soot
Prompt:
"Good lordt, that was an adventure! I am just relieved that we can get this duck back safe and sound, it doesn't seem to have any injuries! I am really happy and actually proud of myself for being able to come up with such a plan, I honestly didn't think threatening him with his family would work but it did (kids, don't try this at home, please)

I guess the next order of business is getting this little guy home! I think the best course of action is wrapping him up in a towel and putting him in a box so we can easily carry him back to Daffy! We just need to find a box enough box or crate we can out him in, I think I have a towel in the back of my car we can use no problem! I am just happy that this is all over and that he is safe, now let's get him back home where he belongs!" (165 words)

Daffy's Great Duck Hunt - Day 6 Open!

daffy’s great duck hunt - day 6
username: ptarmigan
buttermilk: buona!
prompt: "wow. that was extensive." the night cow said, her nose scrunched up in irritation. "don't think i'll ever own a duck after experiencing this." she was mumbling now, unwilling to meet daffy's gaze. when she asked her to move the duck a quick and instant head shake sent the message. but, then she felt a level of guilt shoot through her. "i'll take the nice mr. runaway's girlfriend, though. she seemed to like me. but... you could catch runaway with a net and then scoot him into a kennel made for small dogs and take him back like that. but please! make sure to secure the damn latch. and don't forget to shut the door to the makeshift pen behind you as you go in. we don't want him escaping again!" buona gave the smoothest smile she could without seeming like it was forced and waddled to the duck pen where mr. runaway and his girlfriend were.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 6
Username: mtuan,
Buttermilk: Abby
Prompt: Abby's ecstatic to have caught the duck before it was too late! Immediately after trapping the poor thing under the bucket, the girl has to think of a way to bring the animal back without it escaping again. Tentatively, she reaches into the bucket from underneath, keeping a tight hold on the top of the bucket to keep the duck from escaping or moving away from her. Abby sighs when she feels the duck's feet in her hands and is quick to grasp at both of them, pulling the poor thing from under the bucket and into an upside down position. Even as the duck flaps its wings helplessly in the wind, desperate to escape, Abby holds on. She then sets it down in the bucket and quickly caps it off with a fence to keep the duck from flying away from her while in the now right side up bucket. She's so happy to have caught the duck to be honest! Now she has much less to worry about!

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 6
    Username: paopu
    Buttermilk: Pele
    Prompt:
“Could it be?!?!? It appears that whatever you did was a success! The last rouge duck has finally been caught!!!! Now that you managed to capture it, how do you plan on escorting it back here to me and the makeshift duck pen behind the booth? How are you feeling now that you’ve caught the duck?”

Pele was not surprised when they won. Their plan had been perfect, so course it had worked. Of course the fowl fiend had stumbled right into their trap. It had not been a matter of if but when and anyone who said otherwise was going to get a duck decoy lobbed at their face. Regardless, even if, of course, they had expected to win, they couldn't help but to feel satisfied with this turn of events. "Well, well, well," they crooned at the duck, captive in a net that they'd nicked off one of the vendors. "What do we have here? Thought you could outwit me, did you? Did you really have to make it so easy?" They nearly pouted down at the pitiful thing as they bundled up the net, grumbling half to themselves. "I thought you were supposed to be a challenge?" With one last snort, they dragged the net back in the direction the duck had ran from originally. "Let's get you home."

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 6
    Username: DarkestWerewolf
    Buttermilk: Aria
    Prompt:
The plan was set into motion. Aria awaited atop the alley, peeping over to watch the trap, sure enough, the quacker wondered into the alley. Aria immediately shut of its escape route. The sudden change sent the bird into panic and it flew into one of the cages, trapping itself. Huh. That went easier than expected.

Nonetheless, the duck has been captured. Aria hurried down to check. Sure enough, the white avian could be seen quacking and flapping about in the cage. A huge wave of relief filled Aria. After days, she had finally caught the bird. All the days of chaos and stress can finally be put behind. No booth will be at the threat of the duck’s destruction. Aria hoisted the cage onto a wagon and placed a cloth over it so the duck doesn’t get too stressed. With the cage safely secured on the wagon, Aria happily tugged the wagon back to Daffy’s. The past few days had been extremely eventful and Aria was grateful to have been part of the hunt and experience.
