Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Ravendarus
Buttermilk: Magpie
Prompt: 4
Word Count: Magpie paced angrily, her bait didn't work, the duck must have gotten a big feast and wasn't hungry for more. She was indeed growing more frustrated considering she had never been outsmarted by another especially not a duck! How insulting the fowl was so incredibly annoying! How could it have just disappeared and what if she found another duck that wasn't it? They all pretty much looked the same after all and one could never truly tell the difference. She pondered if Lydia would be able to tell since her dad owned chickens and ducks.... but she refused to swallow her pride and ask. She was to strong-willed for that after all. Magpie sighed and shook her head gently. "I will find them..." She said upset, her ears swiveled back with a deep snort as she held her head high, "I refuse to lose to a stupid bird! I will not be outsmarted again, that much I can tell you!" She said proudly.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Elliad.
Buttermilk: Melody
Prompt:
Melody stewed behind the bush that she had hidden herself in, stamping her hooves on the ground, hitting them harder and more rapidly as the duck refused to make its appearance. The heifer could feel tears pooling in her eyes as she let out deep snorts. “Why won’t that duck just listen to me,” she sighed.

“I’ve done everything to make him come over,” Melody whispered to nobody but herself. “I left him food, I made him feel like I was one of his kind. I searched for him. I just want to get the job done.”

The heifer had tears trickle down her face, dripping onto the grass below. She scrunched up her face, trying to hold back the tears and make herself appear strong.

“No, now is no time for tears. I need to get this done. I cannot show that darn duck that he is affecting me. I’ve just got to keep at it. I’ve just got to wait it out.”

if anyone wants one of my buttermilks, pm me. Just giving them away for free as I just don't use them. Not fcfs, would prefer they go to folk with buttermilks already.

If anyone wants my old rise cats, pm me. They're just sitting idle and I have no desire to sort through them all and create new independent references. Lf art in exchange for any with more than 4 pieces of art. Ones with <4 pieces of art, i'm willing to just give away - preferably to someone who used to be part of the community.

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4

    Username: bluex
    Buttermilk: Elpis

Prompt: Elpis couldn't help but feel utterly defeated. She had tried every trick she could think of! All that dedicated training through a childhood spent watching endless amounts of cartoons had rose to nothing. The grey heifer felt her lip quiver and she dropped to the ground, the exhaustion held in her legs from non-stop working to find this duck overwhelming her. She was miserable, she just wanted to find this silly duck, give him to Daffy and run crying all the way home. Elpis was never a heifer to let anything get her down, so when she finally does let her emotions overcome her, she goes from that usual little ray of sunshine to a tantruming mess. It didn't take long for her to stop, however. Taking deep breaths, she lifted herself from the ground and wiped her running nose on her arm. The young heifer looked up and blinked the tears back, thinking happy thoughts in attempt to ground herself.
After a couple of minutes, she turned back towards the fairground and attempted a small smile.
Well, no use crying over spilled milk. I've started this job and I've got to finish it.

    Buttermilk: arabella
Prompt: laugh it off? laugh it off!? how could she laugh it off? arabella was furious - more than furious - she was about ready to stomp this duck! no, she wouldn't do that...but it sure was tempting. how dare this creature continually outsmart her - if it had felt personal before, it was even moreso now. she was intelligent, and working hard to catch this thing - so how did it just keep slipping out of her grasp? it was just a duck, in a market filled with buttermilks! why was nobody else capturing this thing? not that she wanted them to - no, she needed to be the one to catch this darn thing, even if it meant she did nothing else at the market. but still...it was infuriating. why was she the only one trying? this was so typical - she always felt like nobody really cared, or did anything right. it was always on her.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Yodel
Buttermilk: Alli
Prompt:
Alli was tired coming back to Daffy after working in Liz's fields, she had worked harder today. When she arrived and Daffodil informed her that there was somehow still no sign of this duck, Alli was confused, especially when she added that multiple cows had set up traps. Maybe they just hadn't seen Alli's trap yet?

Narrowing her eyes, Alli made her way over to the clearing where she had set up her funnel trap. There was no duck, but the food was gone! Either something much smaller had managed to take all the food away, or that was one smart duck because all that was left were a few crumbs here and there. Somehow the duck must've managed to figure out how to get back out through the entrance because there was no way a smaller animal could have taken all that food, and the lid of the trap was still intact. How peculiar.

Alli started to doubt her trap-making abilities. But, whether her trap was good or not, she was thoroughly entertained by this duck adventure and found it incredibly amusing how evasive this duck had become. Alli believed we have much to learn from animals, and this only confirmed it.

She honestly didn't mind being outsmarted by a duck, well, aside from the fact that he was causing destruction for other cows, but other than that she thought the whole ordeal was rather hilarious.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Cactologist
Buttermilk: Bedelia
Prompt: By the forth day with no sign of the rascally duck, Bedelia was a little fed up, to say the least. This was not how she was planning to spend her time at the farmer's market. Why was one little duck able to cause so much trouble and constantly evade them anyway? She was a full grown cow, for gosh sakes! How in the world did she get roped into this situation to begin with? All of her anger faded, though, when she came in site of Daffodil, who raced around the pen trying to catch a duck with with two other ducks in her arms and one on her head. No doubt this isn't how Daffodil expected to spend her time, either. Bedelia then remembered that she had chosen to help Daffodil, and she could choose to stop helping any day. She also knew, though, that that was never going to happen. She couldn't let down a friend! With that, she decided that no matter if it takes the rest of the week, she was going to catch that little duck, and turned around to check her traps one more time. Maybe, just maybe...

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Knickknacks
Buttermilk: Logan
Prompt:
Logan was... a bit more frustrated than she wanted to admit at the idea of being outsmarted by a bird. She couldn't see how one duck was able to cause so much damage, and evade capture for so long. So many booths muddied up and produce destroyed- seriously, was this duck okay? How could they be sure it wasn't some... sketchy duck with superpowers of causing chaos? That's kind of what it felt like, when Logan thought back and considered the events of the past few days.

Logan wasn't by nature an exceptionally patient cow- when she'd agreed to help track down the duck, she had envisioned herself doing something more... exciting than watching a crate of produce and waiting for the duck to strike. Chasing down the rogue bird, maybe, had been more in the line of her expectations. But impatient though she was, Logan fought hard to keep her focus. Boring or not, the duck still needed to be caught- and the presence of that job, that thing she needed to do, was enough to keep her sitting here rather than succumbing to frustration or dwelling too long on what she would rather be doing.

    For now, at least.

Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
Username: Black.Wings
Buttermilk: Ghostly

Prompt: "Well, the trap didn't work today. There's always tomorrow though." Ghostly and the farmer looked at the empty trap. "Well maybe he wasn't hungry, he did load up on more than half my stall yesterday mornin." This lifted Ghostly's spirits a little bit. This whole situation seemed like a dream though. Nobody has even seen the duck since yesterday. "Maybe he flew south." Ghostly decided to try to lighten the situation a bit. The farmer chuckled under his breath. "I sure hope so missy." This wasn't an end of the world situation. Just a duck with a cow brain for sure. She knew if things really got bad the market would probably get shut down and experts would be called in to fix the problem. "You know, we're all going to laugh about this all when it's over." In hindsight, some were laughing about it now. Though, they weren't the ones who lost half their stalls to a demon duck form another world. "We will come back again tomorrow mister. He can't keep this up forever." The farmer just shook his head and turned away. "I mean, or he could." Ghostly watched the farmer walk away. "Oh shoot.. Maybe he could be right." Only time can tell.

Day 4

Postby yeena » Fri Apr 17, 2020 7:48 am

    Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4
    Username: ceance

    Buttermilk: Evangeline
Prompt: Admittedly, Evangeline couldn't say that she had ever been outsmarted by a duck. Regardless, she had been laying some vegetables and fruits around to try and lure him out and could only hope that it would work to bringing him out of his own hiding. Regardless, she was used to tough situations like this and, after years of experience, learned that she had to simply persevere through tough situations like this. Besides, her girlfriend had been teaching her even more extreme forms of patience. She adored her girlfriend to the ends of the planet; loved her sharp, confident eyes and the way she would carry herself. Even though her girlfriend was definitely a rich snob, she loved her.
They argued a majority of the time, sometimes over stupid things like who used the last bit of hot water and sometimes over more serious subjects that ended in them having to ignore each other for the rest of the day to calm down. Regardless, they still ended up sitting on the couch at Lee's will, her arms keeping her girlfriend strapped to her and, subsequently, the couch. The movie would be some kind of terrible romcom that she picked out, just to make Mia mad and have her complain about the movie being sub par and not up to her standards. It would always make Lee snicker and only pull the smaller female closer to her, cheek pressed against her shoulder while she enjoyed the movie and her girlfriend's bickering.
Simply put, the commitment of a relationship was a much harder feat that getting outsmarted and overrun by a duck. With a simple sigh, she kept walking with the vegetables in her arms, thinking of more unusual places to put the lures.

Bluebird- wrote:Daffy’s Great Duck Hunt - Day 4

Buttermilk: Hazel
Prompt:

Hazel began the patient wait for the duck to fall for the 'ol "veggies and fruit in a half covered crate" trick. She watched sadly as all the stall vendors worked to finish picking up their belongings, some still in one piece though others completely destroyed. Duck tracks and feathers were absolutely everywhere and day 4 had come sooner than expected. This duck seemed impossible to catch!

Normally Hazel would find light in the situation, but now didn't seem the appropriate time to laugh or joke about the evasive bird. Her friends and customers were having an awful time cleaning up the mess and the heifer couldn't help but share in their frustration. Luckily she didn't have a stall set up when the duck came through or there'd be snapped flower stems and petals all over the place! She always took such great care in her bouquet making, growing the flowers in her own greenhouse until they were ready to be arranged. All of these other vendors put hard work and a lot of time in their own craft as well and it just hurt to see them in such disarray. It was time for this duck to go down.
