Trench has lived on her island - a beach her whole life. Swimming in warm pools of water and eating tropical fruit was how she spent her days. She could’ve stayed there forever, if the big mountain on the other side of the island didn’t crack. Of course, Trench knew what this meant – the mountain was a volcano and the whole island was in danger. Reluctantly, she left, and went for the well-known areas that even the most reserved rabbits know about. Trench was adventurous, and took this set-back as a challenge. She went through mountains of flowers, caverns that dipped so low that it seemed like they broke through the earth and ruins of buildings, overgrown with vines and leaves. The place she ended up at was full of burrows, surrounded by trees. Flowers flooded the area, and rabbits seemed to gather here. Trench was welcomed with ease, and she was given a den to call her own.

She’s been in the Field for a few months now, and she’s noticed it getting colder. All of her new friends have been hopping around for the past few weeks, gathering glowing flowers, vines and pines. She’s pitched in, going into the forest and gathering cocoa beans for some hot cocoa and setting up decorations. When she asked Apollo in the middle of decorating a tree ‘what everyone was doing this for’, he screamed. She was so shocked that she fell back. The next few hours were spent being taught about Christmas and the traditions. This Santa-paws would bring gifts and treats for everyone, and reindeer would fly over the meadow, sprinkling gold dust and bringing snow.

Trench blinked a few times, before repeating what Apollo had said. ‘Snow’ she had questioned him. She glanced at him, only to be met with a cold stare. ‘Don’t you tell me –‘ he had started before cutting himself off. Apollo shook his head, and turned away. He hopped off, muttering about ‘weird tropical bunnies’. Trench had half a mind to go whack him upside the head, but held herself back and just hopped to her den.

In her dreams, she saw blurry reindeer and what she thought snow could look like – warm and soft like marshmallows. Trench ended up oversleeping, and only awoke to screams of laughter outside, calls of ‘snow!’ beckoned her to the field. She bounded out the door and saw white – just white. A ‘winter wonderland’ as Apollo said so. She reeled back, and jumped right into a giant pile of snow. Trench screamed, flopping around, trying to get out of the pile she’s dug herself into. ‘Cold cold cold – why the heck is it so cold!’ she yelped. Laughter surrounded her, and Apollo came into view – he nosed her up, and Trench darted for her den. She turned to Apollo and glared right at him. He smiled cheekily back, a fuzzy scarf wrapped around his neck and matching mittens on his paws. Trench huffed, grabbed a scarf and charged right at him – ready to bury him in the snow.

Writing: Cheshire never checks the weather, or plans his day out in general when he first wakes up in the morning. ‘Who checks the weather anyway?’ and ‘Who would wanna do that? Sounds like too much effort to me’ were questions that often echoed in his brain when he hears other bunnies inquiring about the forecast.

Now that Cheshire had taken care of the decorations inside of his home, he figured he might as well spruce up the outside decorations to make things more festive and less spooky for the sake of those around him. A cold, harsh breeze ruffled up his fur and nipped at his nose. The striped bun shivered for a moment before fluffing up his hair and venturing further out into the cold. His glowing eyes gazed up at the sky, noting it’s dull grey color, but thinking nothing of it.

As Cheshire began to tidy up and hang some Christmas lights, delicate snowflakes gently began to fall. They landed softly on his fur, and left him looking like a Christmas decoration himself. It had only just then dawned on his what the grey sky and the harsh winter wind nipping at his nose had meant. He paused, midway through hanging a strand of colored lights, and was instantly transported back to his youth.

There was something about this snow that reminded Cheshire of the first snowfall he had ever seen. He recalled his mother taking him and all his brothers and sisters outside as the snow began to gracefully dance down from the clouds up above. It was a light and gentle snow, the same as what was falling in the present. The little rabbit stuck out his tongue and attempted to catch a snowflake. He smiled, and danced around the swirling flurries as he had when he was a kit with his siblings. The snow soon started to come down harder, and soon transformed into a wicked blizzard, the same as when Cheshire was a kit. He fondly remembered his poor mother rushing everybody back into the den, before the weather became too much for everyone to handle. There, inside their den, everyone was cozied up, cuddled up next to one other to stay warm. Cheshire missed that feeling. He loved being surrounded by family, and the nights it snowed and his family cuddled up were the nights he slept most soundly and the most peace of mind. He longed to return to that, but for now, he was all on his own. Cheshire settled for a cup of hot cocoa and a blanket as he called his family, hoping to make holiday plans to see them.

As Korey woke up that morning, stretching and yawning, opened his window. He was so confused, what was that white, puffy stuff? He turned on the television AND the radio, hoping for answers.
The radio person spoke:
“Good morning bucks and does, it’s quite the chilly morning today, wouldn’t you say? Today we’re having a snow day, no work and no school. There is 18cm of snow and more is coming down, we’re having flurries later on and-” he turned off the radio and TV. Snow, that’s what the fluffy white stuff was. Korey decided he better go investigate. After all, he hadn’t been here long, he’d never seen snow, he’d lived in warmer climates. He ran outside, hitting a burst of chilly air. He ran back inside the safety of his home. Korey looked around, looking for something to wear outside. He went digging through his closet, only finding a scarf, but that would work. He swung it around his neck, then slowly waddled outside. He stuck his nose into the snow, sniffing it. It was so cold! It was wet too, nobody told him it was wet!!! Korey was going to suck it up, taking a deep breath he jumped face first into the snow. He sunk in, he was struggling to get out, his whole body was covered in snow. He jumped out, cartoon style and ran inside. He tore off his scarf and covered himself in a blanket, grabbed a cup of peppermint hot chocolate and cuddled by the fireplace. I guess snow and anything related, just isn’t for him...

the room was lit with red and white candy canes and black and white penguins
their light blinked on and off and acted as a night light. No one else in the school
had decorated for Christmas yet, it was December 1st and Dasher was ready to
decorate, not that he hadn’t already.

Dasher woke up and gave a big stretch. he had penguin pajamas on that said “stay
cool”. These were one of his favorites. Dasher’s roommates didn’t really like Christmas,
even though Dasher had tried multiple times to get them to like it. Most of them complained
that it was too cold or too loud, or simply too bright. But Dasher thought it was splendid. He
would sometimes sit at his desk waiting for the first snowfall. Just starring out the window.
When Dasher walking to his local store to get some hot coco, a tiny snowflake landed one his
nose. Dasher jumped up and down in excitement. It was finally the first snowfall! He ran and
rushed to get his hot coco and went back to his house. The first thing he did was open his snowfall
calendar. It’s a thing Dasher made up. Basically every day it snows you get to open up a window.
Dasher opened it up. It was a dark chocolate with whites chocolate drizzle and marshmallow
filling. Dasher clapped his hands and put the small chocolate in his mouth. Then he bundled up
in pink earmuffs and went out side. He rolled on the ground. The he built a snowman. He went
back inside and grabbed a carrot (which he got hungry and took a bit out of), a rainbow scarf,
and finally a candy cane in case the snowman gets hungry! After that he built a snow fort with
cup holders. And after that it was time to get in his pajamas and hit the hay. This was the perfect
day.

Well it’s quite a funny story how Dasher found his favorite Christmas song.
He was doing a project for his school, you were supposed to research your
name. It was due on December 19th but Dasher completely forgot to do it!
He was so caught up in shopping and the snow! It was 12:00am and dasher
rushed to his laptop he was typing so quickly that he search “Dashr” instead
of Dasher. So what came up was “Did you mean Dasher, Dashing through the
Snow?”. It sounded like a merry search so Dasher clicked on it. Then a song
came on with a nice tune. “Dashing through the snow” this is what became
of Dashers favorite Christmas song. It sounded like his name plus it made him
feel happy inside.
