Res - Time to talk about Tallstar
Moved offsite. If you need to contact me for whatever reason, best way is via my toyhou.se.

All pets are for trade for art: you can find the post here or you can just dm me.

Last thing, I'm having a character clear-out:
if anyone wants one of my buttermilks, pm me. Just giving them away for free as I just don't use them. Not fcfs, would prefer they go to folk with buttermilks already.

If anyone wants my old rise cats, pm me. They're just sitting idle and I have no desire to sort through them all and create new independent references. Lf art in exchange for any with more than 4 pieces of art. Ones with <4 pieces of art, i'm willing to just give away - preferably to someone who used to be part of the community.

Cat Name: Pebblerush
Clan: Strawberryclan
Rank: Hunter
Gender: female
Age: 34 moons

Prompt: (i just couldn't wait, sorry not sorry)

Yeah hi, okay I just couldn’t wait cause let me tell you about this babe.
Not only was she my first real strong female role in my life, but she still teaches me lessons all the time.
Some might not agree that she was strong and there are better examples of this by other cats in the series, but sorry you can’t change my 11 year old brain’s mind.

Look, Sandstorm was so used to being the spotlight in the clan. She was the β€˜prodigy’ almost and was always showing the clan how great she was going to be for them. Her hunting, and fighting were top notch, she had a very healthy competition with Dustpelt when they were apprentices, helping them to both push themselves and they were great friends. When Firestar joined the clan, she was jealous that he was taking her spot but also admired that a kittypet would give up his cushy life so easily for something he had just learned about and wasn’t scared like others they had probably encountered. (Don’t get me wrong, she was rude, just like any young clan cat is with kittypet/loner/rogue joining the clan.) Whenever Firestar was chosen for something by Bluestar, she was always sad, thinking that she wasn’t doing good enough, and also feeling like there was large favoritism at work, making it harder to believe in yourself. She was older and became a warrior after firestar had. This made her jealous so she returned to making fun of them as always.

She never let any boy try to keep her from doing things, and did her best to fight her own battles, but also wasn’t afraid to ask for help if needed. She hated him for saving her from falling, then comes to realize that she was close to death and starts to see that the bright ginger tom is actually not all that bad. This is when she started to respect him more and grow closer to him, much to Dustpelt’s dismay, (not gonna lie kind of wanted sandstorm x duspelt but another story). This girl also wanted to be with the fire that saves the clan so badly that he was oblivious to it until another cat pointed it out to him. All because he thought that she hated him! That’s how much he respected her as well, all while Dustpelt is upset that she decided to choose a kittypet as her potential mate and not him, a clan cat with pure blood! She dealt with sharp rejection from her best friend growing up and ignored it because she loved someone else!

She loved firestar so much that she allowed him to go see his best friend’s kits, but wanted nothing to do with Graystripe because of his mate. She was that loyal to both her future mate and her clan that she was able to balance the two almost perfectly, yet defends Graystripe and Silverstream when Riverclan tries to take the kits, (all because uncle Crookedstar is mad his kit left his clan.) She gets mad when she isn’t given Tawnypaw as an apprentices and later learns that he was protecting her, thinking that Tigerstar would hurt those that mentor his kits. Then she loses the opportunity to become deputy due to him not giving her an apprentice. Then he promises to give her a specific kit due to her asking after training the kits before the fight with bloodclan!
She protects her kits during the Fire and tiger prophecy when all her mate can do it yell at Squirrelflight for being friendly with Brambleclaw, making the kit only want to disobey more which Sandstorm catches on too.

She is shocked and disappointed in Leafpool after being told that the kits she thought belonged to Squirrelflight and Bramblestar are in fact Leafpool and Crowfeather’s, but she never once stopped loving her kit or grand kits. She cared more for her mate in The Omen of the Stars series than ever. Telling him that he needed to be careful, at this point it seemed that he was just losing lives, and even tries to stop him from fighting in the great battle due to his having only one life left and wanting to spend more time with him. She then gets in a fight with Mapleshade who hates her solely from having everything that the dark forest cat ever wanted and couldn’t have.

She also knew about his love for Spottedleaf all along and never once brought it up while others were around and only did so once, where she was quickly washed away by a flood, making Firestar realize how much he loved her over the former medicine cat. Later in the great battle Spottedleaf saves Sandstorm and she is so thankful to the former medicine cat, even though she no longer lives in Starclan due to dying in the battle. She still comforts Firestar after this, and hearing that it was always the former medicine cat’s destiny to save Sandstorm. Then once Firestar dies, after Sorreltail doesn’t allow her to fight with him, she is the first to mourn him, the first to not be sad after seeing him appear then disappear and to cheer for Bramblestar.

Sandstorm is the first strong female character we get that isn’t going coo-coo for coco puffs when we meet her, and she fights for what she believes to be right. She dealt with her mate being paranoid about Fire and tiger, her kits outright lying to her, and her mate having to meet his end while living on without him for almost two years, all while knowing that he is waiting for her, because his first love is no longer in Starclan.

I really don’t care, I had to get this out there because this cat is a goddess in my eyes and I will always hold her on that pedestal that she deserves after all these years.

Prompt:

my favorite cat of all time is yellowfang! she was such an important part of the books and she gets sidelined and forgotten all the time.
her introduction was IMPECCABLE!! her personality showed immediately and the emotion in the fight scene was palpable. when she gave up the fight and firepaw realized she was half dead, she never tried to beg him for help. she was proud and headstrong.
when she came to the clan, she took no crap from any cat. there was no question that she respected herself and despite being prisoner she would not give in. she was snotty and rude and i was starstruck as a child first reading these books.
despite being hated by virtually everyone in the clan, she went out of her way to try and find the lost kits. she left camp and searched for them. this was not her clan, and no one liked her, but she was so passionate about the lives of those kits she ran off to find them.
when she found out spottedleaf had died, she was heartbroken. she cared for the cats in this clan that hated her! she took her place with pride and honored spottedleaf's legacy.
when cinderpaw had her accident on the thunderpath, yellowfang did everything she could to save her. she knew fireheart was mortified and she tried so hard to save the kit and the pain fireheart would endure.
cinderpaw was so passionate about being a warrior for her clan, and was devastated to realize she would never hunt or fight. yellowfang comforted her and took her on as an apprentice. the playful banter they shared in the books was endearing and i remember rereading those scenes a hundred times as a kid. yellowfang, despite being known for her crabbiness, absolutely adored her apprentice.
when cinderpaw couldn't save silverstream and thought she was worthless, yellowfang went out of her way to comfort her. rather than a dismissive "death happens" attitude, she consoled her apprentice and showed her how to heal pain of the heart.
when brokentail was in the clan as prisoner, she was faced with an intense moral debate. this was her son, but he was a harrowing enemy. i cannot even begin to imagine the emotion she would have been put through. when she killed him, you could feel the sorrow she felt emanating from the pages. she had killed her only living kit, her loyalty to her adopted clan showing.
the scene that solidifies yellowfang as the best cat in my mind is her death. she could have left halftail, knowing he would not make it, but she tried. she survived in her den for a day, choking through the smoke, so she could see fireheart one last time. she told him that she could not have been prouder of him if he were her own kit. she loved her clan! so much! she felt so strongly towards thunderclan, who had recently hated her with a passion, that she found their deputy to be like her own child. fireheart had no kin aside from cloudpaw, so the fact that yellowfang spoke so highly of him must have felt incredible. yellowfang was always sharp and quick of the tongue, but when she spoke, she spoke from the heart. she loved her clan and her friends more than anything in the world, and that is why yellowfang is my favorite cat.

i havent read the books in so long so uh yea but, hands down, my favorite cat is Tigerstar. No, not because I think he was an amazing villain, but because he was so stupidly dumb.
Now let me explain, tigerstar was legit one of the worst villains in the series and that made him so funny that i just love him so much. the fact that he wanted all this power but still was wanting more made him the worst ever lmao
bruh and he's so generic as well? "oh yea im this big bad dark brown heavy scarred evil male cat coming for ur life" like if i saw that coming at me i'd just laugh
also the fact that he named an entire clan after himself for a good couple seconds with a pile of bones as their leader chair thing made it even more iconic
his death tho was by far the worst. how can he have all nine lives ripped from him at once like????? anyways yea i adore him bc he's edgy and stupid like me and he's been my favorite cat ever since i started reading the books

Prompt: Bluestar has been my favorite character right from the beginning. She suffers so much and her loyalty to her Clan is just incredible. This is proven time and time again. And when she had to give up her kits? Oh man, I was crying like a baby. But she finally made her peace with them right at the very end. To me, Bluestar was perhaps one of the most dynamic characters. She shows great personal growth in the books. And when she loses her faith in StarClan because of events happening to her Clan, this just made my heart go out to her even more. She's a character I think more than most than you can relate to. That so many characters are portrayed as happy, static, flat characters with no growth or challenges to shape their personality. And in Bluestar's prophecy, we learn of the death of her mother first, then her sister, and then shortly after has to give up her two kits. She has seen so much tragedy, and yet she still sacrificed herself, this time her final life to save her Clan. This is the ultimate show of loyalty and love beyond anything else a Clan leader has done. Bluestar is an inspiration to us all to keep pushing forward and to keep fighting for what we love, even when we have trials and hardships that test everything we believe in. I just absolutely love Bluestar also because I always imagine a fierce, gray blue she-cat with thick fur, beautiful shimmering blue eyes standing at the head of her Clan, proud and fierce. And in the first book getting to see just how powerful she is in battle is so awesome! Firepaw truly was lucky to have such a dedicated teacher...mentor... friend. Bluestar was all those things and more for her Clan and the ones she loved, right up until the very end...

      Rank: Warrior
      Gender: Male
      Age: 15 moons

      Prompt: Cloudpelt

Personally, I think Cloudpelt is forgotten about too much for such a great side character.

We don't see him until nearly half-way through the book, when he appears as a kit that acts as a starting point for Yellowfang's journey as a medicine cat apprentice. At first, you'd think he was just another minuscule side-character that probably won't make much more of an appearance. But that's where you're wrong.

Sometime (not long) after this, he is apprenticed to Raggedpelt, and a sort of time-skip occurs, and we find him near the end of his apprenticeship. He is a resilient and plucky little thing, when he was severely injured after a rogue attack and nearly died afterward, he managed to pull through and didn't beat himself up about it. I would dare say he's even humble for the way he acted, showing confusion but also appreciation for the way his clan-mates praised him despite losing the fight. He is also very appreciative of Yellowfang as a carer, he mentions that she would have been a great mother yet he understands that she is a hard worker and fits well where she is. He and Yellowfang develop a close friendship during the time that he is cared for her, and that friendship surpasses that period as more than just a brief interaction.
And we learn all this in only a single chapter!

Looking back, he has said that he would one day like to be a father and have a family, now I'm not normally one to get all gooey of that stuff but lemme tell you; my heart melts at that. Tom's are so often over-looked as parents in warriors, they either don't appear, or have very little actual care for their offspring, but I like to imagine that if he had had kits, he would have been an excellent and loving father. Though he only makes short appearances, I find that even if it's only small, the interactions they have are sweet and pure, reflective of his personality.

As time goes by, Cloudpelt is appointed deputy by his mentor, now leader Raggestar. We see that he is a fair and mindful deputy, for the little we see him that is. Unfortunately, this lasts for maybe a chapter before the poor tom's life is cut short when he is (secretly) murdered by Brokentail. I cannot describe to you how much I hate that this happened. I completely understand that this was to push the story along and fix Brokentail's future in stone, but poor Cloudtail deserved better! He broke the status quo of ' Shadowclan cats are all evil and baddies >:3' with a refreshing personality and friendship with the book's MC.

Side characters are so often portrayed as either meek or boastful or just having one personality trait that rather boring, and often that key trait defines who they are for the entirety of their existence. But we're lucky to see some texture to Cloudpelt, who has a variety of traits that create an interesting and lovable character. I think that although he has only a very few appearances, Cloudpelt is an excellent side-character that should have been given more spotlight time. Overall, I just love this cat, and honestly think that there'll never be a character quite like him.

Cat Name: Moonstar
Clan: Moonclan (Wolfclan's ancestors)
Rank: Ancestor (Formerly kittypet, never got 9 lives despite the name)
Gender: Female
Age: 41 moons (at death)

Prompt: Scourge.
Before I start, let me say this is not because "lol xd misunderstood edgy cat," there's stuff a lot deeper than that.
One of the things is the fact he's Firestar's half-brother. It shows how two related cats with completely different backgrounds could be completely different despite their blood, or in more technical terms, it highlights nature vrs. nurture.
Now, when it comes to Scourge's past, I'll be the first to say that it doesn't excuse his behavior. But, it shows how the soul can be corrupted, especially as we're children, the time when we're the most impressionable and vulnerable.
It is shown that he lies a lot, and the first lies we see are about him building a house and killing and eating a fox. These are innocent white lies, and kids make things up. However, his siblings make it clear that they know he's lying, not to correct him, but to taunt him. Once he leaves to the Twolegplace, he continues to lie, and once cats start to believe him, he realizes he has to keep it up, more or less making him a pathological liar because his survival and power demanded on it, and that made him descend slowly into what the cats believed he was, a madman and someone who, if you questioned him, would kill you in a heartbeat.
And about the Tigerstar thing, it highlights their contrasting personalities. They were both murderers who were influenced by people they were supposed to trust, but that's about where the connections end. Tigerstar not remembering who Scourge was proves that he really didn't care about people he hurt, to the point he would literally forget them once they're out of his life. People that went against him, however, he would remember (at least until they're out of his way), as shown with his entire Firestar situation. Scourge, however, remembered both ends. He remembered those who hurt him, and those he'd hurt, though with the latter he had gone mad enough to believe there was no wrong in that. He remembered Tigerstar immediately, despite the fact they'd both grown up, and played along for a bit, until he unleashed his full anger and his knowledge of murder from the roughness of the Twolegplace and his own madness, and ripped all of his lives away, and even then, he had gone too mad to believe he had gone far enough, and went even farther, causing his own destruction.
All in all, I think Scourge is a very developed villain if you look beneath the surface and analyze it a bit more. Or maybe I'm just too creative for my own good, who knows.

Prompt: Honestly, my favourite cat has always been stonefur.
Despite everything that his leader said, he always remained faithful and did what he thought was right, no matter what. Even if this cost him his own life in the end, he risked it all just to save other cats who should not have been put through what they were at such a young age (featherpaw and stormpaw). He fought tooth and claw and gave it everything he had and was even winning, until the point where it became 2vs1, which was clearly unfair to the poor guy. I feel as though he often gets overlooked just because of how early his death is in the series, which makes me a little sad. He was a really great character who really stood up for what he believed in and in my opinion, he didn't deserve to die because of that. In the end, he was just trying his best to do what he thought was right and was willing to go against everyone he looked up to just to protect his beliefs, which I find pretty admirable. (185 words)
