Euphorian Thoroughbred #384

Postby DeadlyArcana » Fri Nov 29, 2019 5:54 pm

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

Competition:

The first thing you get when you meet Cross is silence. She's very controlled and stoic, especially being a mare of her stature; often times she can be very intimidating and almost scary, but you couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact, she's often let loose in the yearling pasture to teach the young ones manners; here's is where you really see her bloom. Outside of competition, Cross is actually very goofy and high-energy, usually running and bucking and playing with the foals and stirring up trouble in the pastures. She loves to pull other horses into long-winded games of tag and brief sprints and races from fenceline to fenceline. When she was in flat racing, she actually adored the competition and didn't particularly want to retire. But with her sheer size, her racing times began to slow drastically after her first year racing, so they pulled her from the track. She just couldn't keep up with the other horses on the long distances, and she was going to injure herself trying. This caused her to become anxious and nervous, terrified that she'd failed her owners and the other horses would ridicule her. They kept her for awhile for breeding, but when she had trouble conceiving and carrying a foal, they put her up for sale, which only compounded the problem. She thought they hated her, when in fact, they knew that she was going on to bigger and better things with someone who could take care of her needs better.

When she was brought to Amethyst Ridge, we found that she was actually very social and loving, extremely goofy despite her large size. She blended extremely well with the rest of our herd, and I didn't have a single issue with any of the horses disliking her or getting into any kind of altercation. What I did notice, though, was that she'd often be a little too overbearing and cause horses to give her more space, or that she'd change her own personality in order to make another horse like her better, and often lose a little piece of herself in the process. When I spoke to her previous owner, he said that she was never like that, and that he had no clue why there was a sudden change. She's a very loving, trusting, and friendly mare, always willing to accept a newcomer and make them feel welcome, it just seems as though she's afraid of being left behind by herself. She doesn't particularly want to be the center of attention, per se, but she always strives to be where the action is, just in case she's missing out on something important.

Show Name: Chasing Comet Tails

Barn Name: Comet

Gender: Mare

Age: 11 years

Height: 16.2hh

Halter: blaze orange with a hunter green cheek piece

Discipline: puissance

Competition:
Personality: Comet is not to say, full of herself, but as close as one can get to it without being completely narcissistic. From the perspective of others, she comes across as condescending and conceited, and frankly she has a resting face that can spook even the hardiest of chestnut mares. Though Comet has a different view on such words; instead of condescending and conceited, she is self confident and believes in herself. She uses all these qualities to help her in the most important avenue in her life, competitive puissance. Absolutely nothing matters more to Comet than victory, followed by her appearance, but even having a well groomed mane doesn't come close to her hunger for triumph. It was never Comet's intention to become a hardened competitor but after her first competition it was the only thing that she could seem to focus on. She likes to believe that puissance chose her, instead of the other way around; for she has never had something light her soul on fire the way it sets ablaze when she competes over the high jumps. [180]

Story:
Comet was a young mare when she first witnessed a puissance competition, but she remembers the day like it was yesterday. Something fundamentally changed inside the sooty bay mare that day, and it was a change that she knew that she'd never forget. They were at the first show of the season when everything changed for Comet. She had been training for show jumping for over a year, and was finally starting to feel confident with her jumping form and her relationship with her rider; yet there was a feeling her gut that things were out of sorts. It started the minute she stepped off the trailer, and flung her head into the ominous humidity that clung to the air and never seemed to leave her. Her stomach felt like it held a hundred knots, but Comet knew it wasn't nerves; it was an uncomfortably new and strange feeling.

The pair had classes over two days and on the first day of competition their class was a breeze. Comet had never felt more sure of a course in her life and she felt insanely good about how it went, her rider thought so as well as he gave her a hearty pat after they landed clear. The mare felt a rush of energy course through her, just as it always did when she felt good about the way she had jumped. But the uneasy feeling crept into the back of her mind and the grin on the mare's face faltered. She just couldn't place why she felt so uneasy and the feeling followed her around for the rest of the day. Until her rider walked her to the arena for an evening stroll and she saw the last class of the evening in the ring.

There was a frosty grey stallion cantering around the ring and a small woman on his back. Comet looked past the stud to the emptiness of the ring and tilted her head in confusion, there was only one jump in the center of the ring and it was far higher than anything she had ever seen in her life. Her focus returned to the other horse and then her heart skipped a beat as she watched the stallion begin to rev up. There is no way in hell, she thought to herself. The bay mare felt her breath accelerate and everything around her fell away, as her mixed colored eyes were glued to the grey horse in the arena. She couldn't believe that the stallion was actually going to attempt to jump the brick wall, and until she realized that the unsettled feeling in her stomach was gone, as if the knots in her stomach led her here to the brick wall and the grey stallion. Her focus returned to the ring as the pair in the ring gathered their strides and Comet felt a rush of dizziness, as if it was her attempting the jump, and a rush of relief when the stallion cleared it on the other side. And as the crowd was cheering, Comet realized what the feeling truly was; it was a fire inside her soul that brought her to the place that she belonged. And from that day forward, Comet knew exactly what she needed and that was puissance.

Show Name: HSS Góða Tungl
Barn Name: Io
Gender: Mare
Age: 8 years
Height: 16.3 hh
Halter: White w/ gold hardware
Discipline: Dressage
Competition:
  • Theme song: All horses at Heartsong Springs Stable are named after songs or pieces of music! Io's theme song is Góða Tungl by Samaris. (The translation is "Kind Moon," relating to her barn name, which is one of Jupiter's moons!)
  • Personality: Io is a proud mare. She doesn't like to be seen messing up or being corrected, but she's quite the braggart when she's doing something she does well. If she sees an audience, even just one other horse or person watching her, she perks up and shows off her skills. She loves learning new disciplines even if not to compete in them, so she has a little bit of experience in everything. Her trainer loves working with her because she's so eager to please, and they're currently working on pas de deux with her.

When around other horses in a casual setting, though, she does tend to get cross easily. She doesn't like her personal space to be encroached upon and will let the other horse know to back off if they get too close without her permission. That aside, she has a soft spot for babies and is fiercely protective of any orphaned or rejected foal that comes to the barn for rearing despite never having had a foal herself. This extends to children, kittens, puppies, and any other baby that crosses her path.

Due to Al being gone for basic training I will be stepping in to judge, my apologies for the lateness! That being said, please be patient when waiting for the halter to be added until she gets back! <3

Congratulations to SpartanAmethyst for winning this kid! <3
