I can't see color: 300-500 words; an art piece gets rid of the minimum c: (you can do both an art piece and up to 500 words)
Mstari stared up at the night sky, sighing as the flashes of different shades of gray flashed before his eyes. It was the night of the aurora, a celebration in his pride. But he couldn't enjoy it the way the others could. While he admits that it does look neat, it would look better if it were colored.
He glanced over at the others, all watching the sky in awe, before slinking away to his den. Kipepeo noticed, and quietly followed him.
"Mstari? What are you doing?" She asked, tilting her head. Mstari jumped out of surprise, wheeling around before sighing and settling down.
"Oh it's just you. You startled me," He replied, looking up at her.
"That doesn't answer my question," She stated, slowly padding towards him.
"There's no reason for me to be out there," He began, sighing, "I can't see anything! It all just looks gray and black and being out there just reminds me. Constantly. Because everyone else can see it, and they're always talking about how pretty it is. It just makes me feel worse about myself," He exclaimed frustrated.
Kipepeo took a step back in surprise, "I'm sorry. I didn't know you felt that way...." She began, before making her way back over to him, "But that doesn't mean something's wrong with you. You are just as needed for the pride to exist as anyone else," She said, rubbing her muzzle into his neck.
Mstari stared blankly ahead of him, "It's fine, Kipepeo," He said, pausing, "You know, it might help if you try and explain to me how things are colored? I can try to imagine it."
Kipepeo stepped back, smiling, "That's a great idea!" She exclaimed, "Now will you come back outside? I'm sure the others are wondering where we are."
Mstari looked at her, only just realizing how beautiful the patterns on her fur are.
"Alright. But first, can you tell me what you look like?" He asked.
"Me? Uh sure!" She said, her fur getting warm, "Uhm, on the front I'm just black and white, but they grow into this reddish orange color. Oh wait, you don't know what those look like... Uh I'm not really good at describing colors," she muttered under her breath.
"You're doing great, Kipepeo, just keep going," he urged.
"Uh okay! Uhm honestly that's pretty much it. My tail is white, and so are the spots on my paws. Whatever looks black to you probably is," She ended, looking away embarrassed.
"Well, that worked well," He said, smiling, "Come on, I said I'd go back out."
The pair walked back out to the pride, tails entwined and doused with color.
