Why they've chosen this costume?: The Lion's of my pride live very close to a human village of caribou folk. These people are rarely seen by the lions and so when this lion came across a pile of clothes (The person happened to be bathing, whoops XD) They thought it would be an excellent costume for their harvest festival, as some lions see these folk as mysterious and frightening!

With black, tattered cloak hiding most of a frame, it isn't immediately obvious what this lion's costume is! It is only when you look closer, when you dare to venture beneath the hood of the cloak that you see it - the white, tumbling locks of hair and the streaks of what seems to be thousands of years worth of tears dancing down their cheeks that you realize - this lion is dressed as the Banshee herself! With eyes blank and swimming with sorrow, it's hard to believe that this is actually a costume sometimes...
Why they've chosen this costume?:

The legend of the Banshee is one of the favourites among the Flame Valley Pride, causing many a sleepless night for the cubs who have heard it, waiting for the cries of the sorrowful woman to freeze their bones. The tales speak of the woman who looks out for a family - or a pride - and her saddened cries ring out on the night of a death of one of the members of the family, even if the family member was far away, which meant that the cries of the Banshee is the first warning. But despite her terrifying appearance and ghostly wails, the Banshee is not a malicious spirit, merely caring for the members of the families.

Costume!: Royal Bee (pun on royalty). A fuzzy bee suit with fake wings, a black painted tail, and a crown.
Why they've chosen this costume?: Royalty is always something to bee proud of. Especially among of a hive of many. To bee the Royal Bee is to show all that you are the leader of this domain. That coupled with beeing a bee just proves that you can look adorable and deadly at the same time.

| A Hunter's Honor |

As is the Noble Linanthus of Stone's custom, on Hallow's Eve he dons the trophies of his best hunts that year. All hunters gather with their families in the local area to compete for the honor of acting in the ritualistic play. This year, Astrona's father won it. That evening he will act as the creature to banish the evil spirits and bad omens of the year into the cold.

To ward off evil spirits, the strongest and fiercest individuals don the pelts and skulls of their most difficult kill that year. They perform a ritualistic act of the hunt, except the victorious hunter is the one defeating the spirits. Youngsters act as the spirits, rambunctious and loud as they run around the fire-lit stage coated in the ashes of the fire of the previous year's ritual.

It was quite a collection of trophies that won the Noble Linanthus this year's honor:

The pelt of a sun bear that had encroached onto the water source of multiple families and wouldn't leave.
Feathers and talons of a harpy eagle that had tried to take a few cubs whose families resided on the waterfall cliffs.
Large tusks from an enraged boar the Noble Linanthus fought off his territory.
A skull of a caiman, as an annual token of his love to Swift North, Astrona's mother.
Antlers from a swamp deer that he tracked for a week to feed the mourning family of his brother-in-law.

Costume!:
Head: A crown of small bones, antlers, and glittering rocks weaved together using moss and, grasses. A painted sun on the forhead is created using crushed bone powder, and water.

Mane: This is filled with seeding Syngonanthus nitens as to spread the plants seeds in travel, and to give a golden glow to the lion.

Body: a cape and cuffs are weaved from long golden grasses and draped over the lions form. With an additional pale deer pelt draped over the grass cape.

Why they've chosen this costume?:
They chose such a costume to pay homage to the prides sun god. Usually held on the longest day of the year, a few other pride members dress as the animals they hunt using pelts, and bone. The lions involved proceeded to perform a play retelling the great hunt in said costumes and to ensure good hunting for the pride. This lion finds themself more drawn to the deity of the sun rather than the moon, using any opportunity givin to show their loyalty.

Costume!:

The costume this lion is wearing is reminiscent to what the native folk refer to as a 'Wendigo'.

The costume itself consists of a black bear pelt but the head is gone, the pelt draped over the lion's back. It appears the lion has also stuck various globs of moss to the pelt, stuck together by stick-tights underneath the globs of moss. The moss itself appears to come in three colors: A deep green, a darker green, and a dark, almost bloody, red.

The tail is decorated with strings holding multiple colored feathers here and there, as well as smaller bones that seem to dangle everywhere they go.

But the main centerpiece is the head part of the costume. The lion managed to find a full deer skull, and it fits over their head! With some dyes they found, they painted on the skull a few small markings to make it more spooky looking. Then they proceeded to stick some other, sharper teeth from bears or badgers inside the skull, using clay as a mold to stick it together. The antlers are decorated with hanging feathers and other little string trinkets.

Finally, there is a necklace made completely out of small feathers and bones that seem to click and clank against each other with movement.

Why they've chosen this costume?:

On the night of Framunti, when the lions do visit the native people within the valley plains, the humans speak of this creature who is known to eat lions and humans alike. It looks like a deer, but it has lost the skin on it's head and it's eyes and tongue are gone. All that remains is a skull for a head, with empty sockets for eyes, just enough tendon to open and close it's jaw, and a pair of large antlers. It can walk on two feet, like a man, but can also walk on all fours, like any other native creature. Deciding it'd be fun to disguise themselves, this lion is going as one!

Why they've chosen this costume?:
The reason was simple - they've decided to realise their dream and impersonate their favourite infamous pirate captain!
The most work with the costume went into the mane. It had to attract attention. He wrapped a red band around his head and attached to it a lucky gold coin. He tied some of the hair into thin braids, others into dreadlocks. All decorated with small colourful beads. After a thought, he decorated his tail in similar fashion.
He adorned his paws with a couple of bracelets. Made of metal, leather or string, anything he could find.
Around his waist a thick, brown leather belt. On one side he strapped a gun with a lonely bullet in it. Just the one to serve a sole purpose. Or so it was in the film. On the other side an empty bottle of rum. Why is it always gone?
He would not wear a captain's hat. It did not seem right when he didn't have a ship. While he would dream of nothing more than to trick-or-treat by sailing from door to door, that was impossible. Instead, he settled for a subtle reference and tied a jewel to a piece of string - a black pearl.
