Euphorian Thoroughbred #257

Postby gяεч » Fri Oct 18, 2019 11:30 am

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

Show Name: ARR Constellation Circadia
Barn Name: Cross
Age: 5 years
Discipline: Cross Country / Western Trail
Halter: Starry night
Competition:The first thing you get when you meet Cross is silence. She's very controlled and stoic, especially being a mare of her stature; often times she can be very intimidating and almost /scary/, but you couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact, she's often let loose in the yearling pasture to teach the young ones manners; here's is where you really see her bloom. Outside of competition, Cross is actually very goofy and high-energy, usually running and bucking and playing with the foals and stirring up trouble in the pastures. She loves to pull other horses into long-winded games of tag and brief sprints and races from fenceline to fenceline. When she was in flat racing, she actually adored the competition and didn't particularly want to retire. But with her sheer size, her racing times began to slow drastically after her first year racing, so they pulled her from the track. She just couldn't keep up with the other horses on the long distances, and she was going to injure herself trying. This caused her to become anxious and nervous, terrified that she'd failed her owners and the other horses would ridicule her. They kept her for awhile for breeding, but when she had trouble conceiving and carrying a foal, they put her up for sale, which only compounded the problem. She thought they hated her, when in fact, they knew that she was going on to bigger and better things with someone who could take care of her needs better.

When she was brought to Amethyst Ridge, we found that she was actually very social and loving, extremely goofy despite her large size. She blended extremely well with the rest of our herd, and I didn't have a single issue with any of the horses disliking her or getting into any kind of altercation. What I did notice, though, was that she'd often be a little too overbearing and cause horses to give her more space, or that she'd change her own personality in order to make another horse like her better, and often lose a little piece of herself in the process. When I spoke to her previous owner, he said that she was never like that, and that he had no clue why there was a sudden change. She's a very loving, trusting, and friendly mare, always willing to accept a newcomer and make them feel welcome, it just seems as though she's afraid of being left behind by herself. She doesn't particularly want to be the center of attention, per se, but she always strives to be where the action is, just in case she's missing out on something important.

      Username: Ringo.
Show Name: Castle on The Hill
      Barn Name: Tiny Dancer
      Age: 8 years
      Discipline: Therapy Horse
      Halter: Brown leather
Competition: It was a stormy night, I knew today was going to be a rough one.
I had gotten a call from a friend. She sounded panicky and told me the address she wanted me to go to.
Apparently lightning had struck a barn 30 minutes away from where I lived.
She told me there were going to be horses who needed to go to new homes. I told her I'll be there soon.
I grabbed a raincoat and rain boots and quickly hooked up a trailer to the back of my truck.
I filled it with fresh hay and water and made sure the floor was covered by a soft blanket.

I rushed to the ranch. My heart was pounding out of my chest. I could feel the adrenaline rushing through my veins.
I was scared, worried, concerned. My mind wouldn't stop piling "what if's" on top of one another.
I ended up going a bit over the speed limit. The roads were very wet as the storm grew stronger with each passing minute.
My entire body was shaking as I pulled up to the ranch, immediately getting out and rushing to the barn.

Horses were being led out. Rearing and screaming in fear. Everyone was rushing and pushing the horses.
I know they need to get them out quickly but they're scaring the poor things.
One horse caught my eye, a beautiful sooty blood bay tobiano mis-marked few-spot pintaloosa.
They were being led out by a guy who was obviously terrifying them to death.
I rushed over and told him I'd take them and to get the other horses out.

This beauty was a mare. Her eyes were filled with fear and trauma. My heart broke for her.
I had to get her out of here as quickly as possible. With all my might I tried my best to get her to my trailer.
I took my time with her. I wanted to grow a relationship with her. I don't need her being scared of me.
She was a tough one. Very stubborn, she was also filled with sass.
When I finally got her loaded in my trailer I made sure she was comfortable.
I gently brushed her down and spoke softly to her, letting her know she was safe.

I brought her back to my ranch. I didn't talk to anyone or let anyone know I was taking her but I didn't care at that moment.
The storm wasn't as strong when we got there but we were already soaked.
I had my stable hands prepare a stall for her with fresh bedding, hay, and water. I got a leather bridle and gently put it on her.
She allowed me to put that on along with a green camo blanket to keep her warm. This mare was very sweet.
I led her to the stable and when she saw all the other horses looking at her she freaked.
She started rearing and neighing. She was stronger than me, she had yanked the rope from my hands and bolted.

I didn't understand why she was scared but I wasn't going to force her. She already had a rough night.
I found her in the middle of one of the pastures. Laying in the rain just relaxing. With how her night was, I was surprised to see how relaxed she was. I had told my stable hands to prepare a stall that is away from the other horses.
I also had them put my mare, Dakota across from her stall so she can start slow.
When the mare was ready she allowed me to bring her to the stall. She saw the mare across from her stall and pinned her ears back with nervousness. I spoke softly to her. Letting her know that she won't be hurt.

When I was getting her comfortable with the new mare and stall, I thought of the perfect name for her.
"Tiny Dancer". She looked at me with her ears perked. It seemed as though she liked it.
I left the two mares alone. I watched them from my phone since we put cameras in the stable.
Tiny was pacing. Always stopping to look at the mare. Dakota understood how Tiny was feeling and that was quite clear.
She would bob her head at Tiny, signaling that she wasn't a threat.
Tiny was scared though. She would rear a bit before pacing again.

I decided to not watch them for a bit. I knew they would be okay.
I waited at least twenty minutes before going to check on them.
When I went to the stable I had seen that the gate to Tiny's stall was open. I look at Dakota and Tiny was next to her fast asleep.
Relaxed and sleeping peacefully while Dakota laid her head on Tiny's back.
I closed the doors to the stables and called it a night.

It took a while before Tiny warmed up to all the horses on the ranch, and she definitely isn't the nicest horse in the pasture, but she has come a long away since that night. She will always be scared and cautious about new horses and there's nothing to change that. All we can do and is take things step-by-step.

Competition:

she isn't the most friendly, though she is okay.
she can get aggressive around food and some of her
closer buddies. She was living in a horrid place,
therefore getting some issues back with that.
one of which is her being non-trusting, it takes
quite awhile to gain trust from her.

Show Name: Genie in a Bottle
Barn Name: Genie
Age: 4
Discipline: Dressage
Halter: black
Competition: Genie is extremely shy around other horses. She becomes very anxious when she meets new ones. She feels extremely awkward around them and is worried that they'll think she's weird, ugly, etc. Whenever she's in a field with other horses, she usually finds a remote corner somewhere so she can be by herself and not worry about the judgement of others. That said, she does try to make friends when she's feeling especially brave. However, due to her paranoid nature, even if she does manage to make a friend, it usually takes her a long time before she feels fully comfortable around them.

Show Name: GOS Fearful Thoughts
Barn Name: Mind
Age: 5 years
Discipline: Trail Horse
Halter: A baby pink, please!
Competition:
Fearful Thoughts is her in two words.
This mare in flat racing has scared her, seeing horses fall in-front of her while running. She has seen a lot. She is scared of other horses cause of it, she think it's her fault. She is very fearful of new things, even horses. She does love other horses if she knows them. She is a sweet-heart. She is just scared, because she thinks what happened to those horses was because of her. Other then her fear of the past, she is a very playful horse with other horses. She shows her foal side to those who she trusts, as well as her caring side. If she were to have a foal, she would love it to pieces. Though, the fear of her foal getting stolen and much other bad thoughts, she would be very protective of it. She would, more then likely, keep her horse friends away from the foal.

Show Name: Defender of Men
Barn Name: Alessandra - Greek name meaning "Defender of Men"
Age: 13 years
Discipline: Eventing
Halter: Brown leather
Competition:
Alessandra is an incredibly territorial mare, but only when it comes to other mares. She despises mares, but there are a select few that she gets along with. She nips at mares when they pass by her stall, chases them away in the pasture, and kicks at those that get too close. On the other hand, she has never had a quarrel with any of our stallions. She gets along with all of our stallions perfectly. As far as we know, she didn't have any interactions as a filly that would lead to her hatred of mares. She's quite the mystery...
