Euphorian Thoroughbred #234

Postby j. bourne » Fri Oct 11, 2019 1:10 pm

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

Barn Name: Renegade
Gender: Stallion
Age: 10 years
Height: 18 hh
Discipline:  Show Jumping
Halter: Green
Phobia: thunder and loud noises in general (Ligyrophobia)
Coping: When he was young Renegade was to be used for hunting trips, expected to be a steady and reliable mount for his rider. But early on he showed a dislike for loud noises. Not too bad but enough to make him somewhat skittish.
His owner ignored that and just made him push through, getting used to the sound of a gun.
But the more he was pushed, not able to escape those noises, the less he was able to tolerate them until he became panicked at the slightest hint of thunder or even sometimes the pop of a balloon.
It wasn't until he found a new home he could start to deal with it better. But when he was purchased he was pretty muxh unridable and had to be tamed all over again, his phobia having affected his whole temperment to make him skittish and nervous.

But in time he learned to trust people and horses, and to find ways of dealing with his phobia. Now when he hears those noises he tries to close his eyes and think of other times and places where he'd be happy and calm, and he imagines it's real. And he's learned that having company really helps sometimes too as a distraction and to keep him grounded. So he tries to stay with other horses whenever possible.
While his phobia is still present these methods help him keep it more managable and he is hoping to figure out other ways to help too.

Show Name: King of the Canyon
Barn Name:Caiden
Gender: Stallion
Age:4
Height:17hh
Discipline:liberty
Halter:black
Phobia:Aquaphobia
Coping:Caiden was once stranded with his small herd as a foal in a flash flood. Everything was so fast ,and so loud, and while he himself wasn't swept away, he witnessed other things doing so and it terrified him. He's still young and still working out his kinks with his new owner, he can't stand to walk through streams or rivers ,or go to the surf line at the oceans, even deep water troughs get him spooky. But his owner is taking things slow, starting with easy baths, positive interaction with water of various types. Things are going well. Just takes a little love and patience.

    Barn Name: Jack
    Gender: Stallion
    Age: 8 years
    Height: 17.1 hh
    Discipline: Vaulting
    Halter: Red and white
Phobia: Coulrophobia - fear of clowns
Coping: Nobody knew Jack was afraid of clowns until he had a circus performance. It was disastrous--he got one look at that pasty white face and gaudy clothing backstage and bolted into the ring during a cyr wheel act, effectively startling the dancer out of her wheel and nearly evading capture to the audience's amusement.

Jack's owner managed to desensitize him by dressing as a clown as she went about her daily chores. It took quite a bit of commitment, but eventually Jack warmed up to the strange shapes and colors that filled his feed bucket and handed him peppermint through the slats of the fence. He still gets nervous around unfamiliar clowns, but it no longer impedes his ability to perform. Sometimes, though, when he's feeling a bit bold, he'll approach a clown and snuffle around their costume looking for hidden peppermints. It's unusual, but most find it endearing.

Show Name: The Flames and The Ashes
Barn Name: Phoenix
Gender: Stallion
Age: 6
Height: 16hh
Discipline: calf roping
Halter: eye color!
Phobia: Haphephobia, the fear of being touched or touching someone
Phoenix doesn't have a real coping mechanism for this. He just... kind of freezes and locks up, attempts to move away, but if it continues, he can have outbursts of anger. He doesn't mean to, but he can't control it. He just kind of.. lashes out. "PLEASE DON'T TOUCH ME" and tries to shuffle away or just freezes and remains silent and has a panic attack.
