Field is an adoption that is based upon building a battalion to fight a monster, known as "The Great Beast", and its minions. Although it is based on war, there is no gore and hefty topics are avoided entirely. Building your battalion is not required, but you will be very restricted if you do not. (Sorry, the general needs soldiers.) There is no base line for adopts, so things could get interesting with different artists' styles. However, there are only three species available in Field; wolves, winged wolves, and foxes. Their lines will not be anything beside that except for special events.

The General stands before your battalion, "recruits, it is, as they say, 'spooky time.'" His words earn a few snickers of laughter, but he continues. "Feel free to dress up, carve pumpkins, and go out there to earn yourself some treats. He pauses, or tricks, don't let your guard down, soldiers!" Although his words are mildly confusing, The General seems to be in a good mood, so you decide to take advantage of it.

If you want to adopt and you don't yet have a commander, you can adopt anyone as your commander. Just write "Commander" under "Rank" in any adopt and don't forget to make an archive for your battalion.

“Jena, you have a horn, surely you would know.”
“What,” came the drowsy reply of a young Jena, laying in the sun as her friends bickered about one thing or the other. The fox next to her sighed, "There you go with your head in the clouds again... We were talking about if unicorns were real, then Robin said that they are, but narwhals are not. But that's stupid. Surely narwhals are real. You never hear grownups talk about unicorns, but you can hear them talking about narwhals." "That proves nothing," came the indignant reply of Robin.

That conversation from her youth now echoed through Jena's mind as her boat battled waves and ice. She had finally reached the arctic. It had been a long month, with many set backs, but she was here. With a small team of canines on her little boat, her eyes scanned the unruly sea. She and the rest of her group had themselves safely tethered to the side of the boat, the fear of falling over ever strong. Calmer waters were ahead, but they would have to wait...

It was night and Jena lay with her eyes wide open. The seas had ceased their rage and the boat barely rocked. Not a single soul was awake, but herself. She rolled off of her cot, her four paws leading her to the door, her blanket dragging silently behind her. Her breath billowed in great clouds about her, the cold sticking to her sides. She sat by the railing and pulled her blanket closer around her, shivering in the night. The night sky sat quietly with her, seeming as cold as the ice that surrounded her. Thoughts filled her mind, one by one disappearing until only one stood. Will this all be for naught? She let the feeling cascade into her surroundings, becoming a silent roar that filled her very being. The words began to overwhelm her, a tear slid down her face, dropping to the ground. Then, almost as silent as the shimmering stars, came a noise. A breath, exhaled, then drew in air. The sound of water moving, then softly repeated again. Her eyes widening, she peered over the rail, not knowing what she would find. A large horn rose above the water, so similar to Jena's own. Tears brimmed in her eyes again, and she smiled. "Hello, friend," she whispered. A low cry sounded from the creature, vibrating the blue wolf. She watched as three more tusked whales emerged, watching her with curiosity. The four of them sat in silence, not a single word or sound passed between them, then they left as surely as they had come. She sat there a while longer, listening to the stillness in her mind. Then she went back to her cot and slept, dreaming of the creatures her friend didn't believe in.

When morning came she whispered her story to Robin in the dark of dawn, who simply shook her head.
Jena never saw the three narwhals again.

Prompt: "Um, narwhals are definitely real? I know that as a fact. Haven't seen one before, but how else would people know about them? If some random person made them up, the idea a them would have died a long time ago. I'm guessing their rare, but I know they'e real." This is the kind of response Osear would say to his someone if they asked him if narwhals are real.

"Narwhals are real! And you know why? Because it's okay to be different!" Says Aster as she sits down on a rock along the ocean. "My saying is... Be so awesome that people think you are a myth." she does a little laugh after. "That's my opinion." she said nothing more after this apart from gasping at the sight of a narwhale several minutes later...
