Euphorian Thoroughbred #123

Postby gяεч » Sat Sep 14, 2019 7:55 am

Welcome to the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project
Euphorian Thoroughbreds are a rare string of the Thoroughbred breed. They come from a single farm simply called “Euphoria” that has horses with mutated genes. These allow them to be able to possess any realistic coat or markings. Everything else about the sub-type is the same. Long, strong legs, a powerful hind, and great speed. Their eyes are soft and the breed is incredibly smart, if not a bit goofy. They love kids and have the rare ability to excel in any discipline. They can grow from 15hh-18hh, though usually somewhere in the middle.
The horses readopted through the Euphorian Retired Racehorse Project are looking for a new loving home and a new job. They’ve tried racing and have either retired or decided the sport wasn’t for them. Either way, they are ready for the next chapter in their life. Some of these horses will come with a little training already, and will have their new discipline already determined. Although others you’ll get to pick how they move forwards!

It doesn't matter how many padlocks they put on his stall, he always seemed to find a way to escape.

Coy, as they've started calling him due to his intelligent and clever nature, has always been an explorer at heart, driven by the promise of adventure and food. When he was first brought to Amethyst Ridge, the poor thing was way too thin for a horse of his stature, despite being boasted as "working fit". It took Amethyst and the ranch staff months to get him to gain weight on a very strict diet, as his first night he broke out and attacked one of the feed rooms; he ended up getting colic from his little escapade, and it set his recovery back even farther. It added quite a bit on to the on site vet Niabi's hard work. While he may have never attacked the feed room and gorged himself into a food coma again, once the colic was gone, Coy never stopped disappearing on his nightly adventures.

The first time he completely disappeared, he was gone for nearly 48 hours. He had been forcibly removed from his previous owners by Animal Protective Services, and given to Amethyst Ridge to rehab for a future adoption event. Amethyst and her riders fell in love with him quite quickly, and ended up making him a part of their stables. The entire time he was undernourished, though, they had zero problems until he got his strength back. When he went missing, she was scared that somehow (however unlikely it was) someone had slipped passed security and stolen him back; he'd been a very successful racer in his short career, and still brought in a lot of money through covering requests. She wouldn't put it past the old owner to try and get him back, either legally or illegally. After all, he'd already barraged her with threatening phone calls and emails wanting to take her to court. Those two days were absolutely horrible, spending countless hours searching hundreds of miles through the woods and ridgelines. When they finally returned back to the stables, though, they found him snoozing in his stall, as if that's where he'd been the entire time. Amethyst was perplexed, knowing that none of her staff had taken him out, but grateful he was home and safe. She decided that an extra eye would be kept on him at all times, and she put a simple carabiner to keep him locked in at night. A few days passed, and they didn't notice him out of his stall, and Amethyst began to relax. Suddenly, once again, he was gone without a trace, carabiner still in the same locked position the stablehand had secured it in the night before.

In an effort not to overreact, Amethyst gave it a few hours before she was going to send out a search party, but when one of the staff went to retrieve Mesa from her stall, Coy was standing there with his head over the gate, ears perked, waiting to be let out into the pasture. Even more confuzzled, Amethyst jokingly came to the conclusion that he was being abducted by aliens, and that at least they were bringing him back when they were done. His disappearances still troubled her, though, to the point where she'd often lie awake at night and worry, even after changing the carabiner to a number lock, then a key-padlock. She began to walk down to the stable every so often, and he'd always be there, but by sunrise when the stablehands would make morning feedings, he would be gone. It was infuriating. And, to add to that, he began to gain weight very, very quickly. Her suspicions continued to rise, and finally Amethyst decided to have a stake out. She stayed awake all night in the stable, watching for Coy to work his magic, but he never did anything other than shift or sleep. Amethyst felt like she was going crazy.

After about a month of all of this craziness, the tech who handled her home security systems finally made his way back around. The Euphorian barn was the newest building, and hadn't been set up for monitoring and video recording yet; as he was installing the cameras, Amethyst knew she'd catch him in the act, and be able to figure out how he was doing what he did. But, in the end, the camera was set up just shy of Coy's stall, and while they were able to catch him finagling the main stable door open and leaving, how he was getting out of his stall itself remained a mystery, until one of the security officers broke his route one morning to grab his jacket where he'd left it in the Euphorian stable. He'd just been able to see through one of the windows and he watched in amazement as Coy reared back on his hind legs and jumped through that tiny upper opening of his stall- only to get his hind end stuck. The guard couldn't contain his laughter at the absurdity of the entire situation, and quickly called Amethyst down to the stable, and within minutes all of the on-site staff were struggling to help him down despite their uncontrollable laughter. Coy had in turn gained so much weight that he could no longer "thread the needle", thus thwarting his own escape plans. All of this was an easy fix, now that they knew how he was doing it, and the escaping finally stopped.

It was nearly three months later when Amethyst was in town, and she saw "Missing Horse" posters with pictures of Coy. Concerned, she called the number to make sure it wasn't his old owner trying anything funny; the elderly woman she spoke to was so relieved to get the phone call, and she learned that when Coy escaped, he was heading to their neighboring farm for a morning feeding of hot mash, then was being showered with as many assorted treats as he wanted before jumping their pasture fence and ambling his way back home. The woman was disappointed to learn that he already had an owner, as her granddaughter had become intensely attached to the stallion, but Amethyst promised that they could come visit him whenever they wanted. The grandparents and young girl did just that.

Show Name: The Great Escape
Barn Name: Houdini
Age: 3 years
Discipline: Dressage
Halter: Black w/silver buckles
Competition: As his name clearly suggests, Houdini is quite the clever escape artist. He has been known to sneak out of his stall without leaving any clues of his temporary disappearance. It was found out that he was escaping his stall in the middle of the night when a stablehand was heading in for the night, later than usual, and saw the stallion galloping through the pasture. When she went to fetch the owner of the ranch, Houdini was already back in his locked stall. The witness could not convince the ranch owner of what she had saw, so she decided to set up hidden cameras. When she reviewed them the next day, she was amazed. Houdini kept a stick stashed away in his stall. He would use this stick to reach in between the bars and tamper with the lock, until he managed to slide it over. He pushed his door open, and his first stop was the feed room, which explained why he was always slightly overweight. After feasting, the stallion would gallop through the fields and paddocks, with the wind in his mane. After his escapade, he would return to his stall, using the stick to lock his stall once more. There is now a padlock on his stall lock. Houdini is now demising the plan of his next great escape.

We'll, I'd had it. HAD IT. Ashby had run off-SOMEhow- AGAIN- and I Still couldn't figure out how he'd done it. Or, rather, how he continued to escape. The thing was ,though, just as oddly as he'd escaped , he'd just as strangely reappear- totally fine -as if nothing had happened. Cheeky fellow, that one, but this time-ho ho man, this time?! I got him. See, I invested in a few cameras- I know , a little extreme ,maybe. But I did. And I placed them ALL over the place. He'd run off for hours and days even at a time , and the first few times, I thought the worst . But it's more the curiosity of it now that's been eating at me. So I got the cameras. And today- today's the day I have been waiting for. He's back- snoozing happily under the willows like the fat cat king of sheeba. I have waited to review the footage until he came back , and here as I sit watching the screens play back the tapes- im impressed. In the far corner of the back pasture there's a gate and wooden posts. Apparently, one of these posts is very loose - the ground softening over time with frequent rainfall- and the clever boy is able to slowly and precisely squeeze between the posts and trot along his happy way leaving us all none the wiser. He'd repeat the process coming back in-and the only evidence in the post hole gradually widening . Oh,where was he disappearing to? A neighboring farm has quite the plenty pretty mare there. Thankfully he has no access but it seems that hasn't stopped him from strutting along and grazing along the fencelines with them . The old rancher mentioned how handsome he was to me and how much he enjoyed watching him prance along to impress his mares. I still am so embarrassed and feel so bad. But now it's being fixed , and we'll just have to schedule playdates from here on out for his new friends down the road.

123 Wile E. Coyote | Wicker R&S Show

Postby SpartanAmethyst » Fri Mar 06, 2020 3:25 am

"Okay, seriously dude? No, you've had three cookies already, you don't need another one," Chao-Myn sighed, pushing the Euphorian's head away from the little baggie he held. It was no secret that Coyote was solely motivated by food and food alone, and the dark mottled stallion would happily eat himself into oblivion if left unattended. "Amethyst will kill me if I give you all of these, after your recent escapades," the young asian boy brandished the offending stallion, and the Euphorian gave an indignant snort. Finally free of those big puppy dog eyes, Chao-Myn was able to finish tacking up, checking each belt and cinch as he went. By the time he made is back to Coyote's head, the stallion had ceased his pouting, and rubbed his head affectionately against his rider. The young man pet him for a moment before taking his reins and moving for the trail's entrance.

"Alright buddy," Chao-Myn murmured as they walked. "So I got a sneak peek of the course, and there's nothing really too troubling for us. There's a water jump, though; one of the drop-downs like you're not too fond of." Coyote's ear flicked sideways towards him, as if he was listening. "It's not too big of a drop, but it's sizable. I know you don't like drops, but we're going to nail it today, I just know it. We've been running the practice course at home, and that drop is bigger than this one, so I know you have it!" As they reached the course, a painted grullo Euphorian named Roark was just taking off with his rider, and in that next moment Chao-Myn heard their number being drawn. "Ready to go, Coy?" He asked, vaulting easily up onto the appaloosa's back. He nudged the horse forward, pulling up his face guard as they went, and stood patiently at the beginning of the trail. The judge there held up their hand, and Chao-Myn could feel Coyote tense beneath him; despite the stallion's natural laziness and affinity for eating, when it came time for competition, he was always excited to run.

Suddenly the judge's hand dropped and the horse sprung forward, almost throwing his rider in the process. Chao-Myn struggled to stay on Coyote's back, scrambling to find a decent hold in his mane. He'd forgotten how quickly the stallion could move. As he'd expected, the stallion had little trouble with most of the course; Coyote had great depth perception and wasn't fooled by any of the more advanced jumps. Honestly, Chao-Myn was there more to pace him, and make sure that Coyote wasn't going to tire himself out too early or run the course too fast and slip. It was part of the reason he'd been pulled from the track after his debut race; he didn't know how to pace himself. But Coyote took all of the young man's corrections in stride, and so far, Chao-Myn felt like they were doing pretty good.

It wasn't long before the water jump appeared in the course ahead, and the rider began to worry slightly. While most horses weren't fond of these jumps due to the water, that wasn't the case with Coyote at all. He loved the water. It was that blind drop that made Coyote nervous; something that happened in his past made him very anxious, and even though there had been huge improvements in recent months, he still refused more of them than he actually jumped. A good sign, though, was that Coyote was either too focused on the run, or that he hadn't noticed that it was a drop jump looming ever closer. They were only a few strides away when Chao-Myn felt him hesitate, but the rider leaned in and nudged him forward. "Come on, you've got this!"

Coyote seemed to find comfort in these words, and though he faltered just a bit, the stallion took the leap of faith and landed in the water without issue. It wasn't perfect, but Chao-Myn couldn't be more proud. He was going to get so many biscuits after Amethyst found out, it would more than make up for the ones he refused Coyote earlier. When the two passed through the course's end only minutes later, Chao-Myn was absolutely beaming behind his face mask. He couldn't wait to brag about Coyote's jumping improvements and awesome course time, too.
