Welcome to the Fallen Oaks Farm event!
It is here that an illegal Euphorian Thoroughbred breeding operation was shut down by local authorities. All of the mares, stallions, and of age foals are in need of homes. There will also be some mares that still have their foals that need to be taken care of. Euphorian lovers from all over have come together to get homes for all of the animals. They've brought giant trailers and are ready and waiting to bring home a bunch of new faces. But before adopting, they must visit the trailer parking site.

I walked over to the paddock that held the foals and mares. One foal in particular caught my eye, he was laying in a corner, watching the other foals be taken to their new homes. He didn’t have a dam. He was alone and sad.

I slowly made my way over to him, he didn’t seem to get spooked. He just stayed on the ground. I bent down next to him and placed my hand on his forehead. He made a quiet whinny, then pushed his face harder against my hand.

Attention was all he needed. He was an outcast. Casted aside by the other people and Euphorians. I stayed on the muddy ground with this little foal for an hour until he cheered up. He laid in my lap as I fed him homemade treats and sugar cubes.

He stood up and was a bit wobbly so I helped him. I lead him to my trailer, he looked at me in a way I could never forget. His eyes were filled with hope and love. Merlin, thats gonna be his name.
Merlin happily went into my trailer and laid on the fresh bedding and drank some water.

Merlin wasn’t a hard foal to cheer up. All he needed was some one on one time with someone, along with a new home.

The area was still bustling, horses and people moving around constantly. I soon found myself standing at the side of the foal pen, leaning against the post as I watched the little ones moving around. Foals were adorable, and to see them interacting and playing with each other would brighten my day. Watching various foals with legs too long frolic for a moment, my eyes soon settled on a mucky baby, far at the back of the pasture. At first, my heart dropped to my knees, fretting over the little one’s lack of movement, and as I went to run over to the still foal, I noticed their chest rising and falling. Watching carefully, I realized that the little colt was watching the others play, head tucked in between his knees. It was then that I realized all the other foals seemed to have friends within the pasture, but this little one had none, no one to play with.
Letting myself in, I walked over to the little one, bending down beside him. He barely raised an eye to me, merely sighing, moving his nose slightly in the mud. I didn’t touch him, just watching him for a second, before springing up. My sudden movement caught his attention, and his head snapped to me, wondering what I was doing. Spinning on my heel, I ran a couple of paces, then turned back, only to see him on his feet. I ran back towards him, holding my hand out and pushing his shoulder lightly before turning back and running again. This time, I heard him give chase, and I felt his muzzle push the small of my back. Laughing, I stopped, turning to face him, and we both watched each other for a heartbeat before I started running towards him.
And, even with other people stopping to watch, the colt and I continued to play. After about fifteen minutes, I was panting, with the colt having worked up a sweat, and I finally stopped, leaning against the fence to catch my breath. It had been fun, but I had to leave to help the others to sort out the rest of the horses. As I let myself out of the gate, I heard the colt’s soft whinny, and I turned, seeing heartbreak dancing in his eyes. Groaning, leaning my chin against the gate, I watched him return to his corner, laying down with his muzzle returning to the ground.
Spinning on my heel, I went to find one of the people organizing the rescue.
“Who do I speak to about adopting one of the foals?”

Cheer Him Up: As I walked through the sickening sludge of Fallen Oaks Farm, adoption slip in hand, a small whinny came from the far corner of the foal pen. I couldn't see the poor thing through all of the other panicked bodies so I let myself in. There were many crying foals and each brought tears closer to falling down my already damp cheeks. The little creature only whinnied once which made finding them all the more difficult. Regardless, his cry was more distinctive then the others. I knew he would share the same fear in his eyes that laced his poor whinny.
It was then that a little appaloosa caught my attention. His eyes were a deep green with flecks of gold. They had many layers, and they told a story of a terrified little colt. I was drawn to him immediately, knowing it was the foal I had heard mere moments ago. He stared at his fellow foals as many were slowly taken out and shuffled into trailers of all shapes and sizes. Never did he pick up his head, though. He kept it firmly planted between his outstretched front legs. My heart ached for him, knowing he needed a friend.
I sat next to his frail figure, and watched the foals with him. I didn't speak, didn't even move. I just sat and waited. After almost an hour I started to see some progress. His tail would twitch occasionally or his eyes would flicker in my direction. He was waiting to see what I would do. He'd probably never met a kind human before. He was so young he'd probably never even been outside of the barn before they were all rescued.
"My farm is covered in aspen trees." He jumped when I spoke, his eyes widening quickly, but I continued, "The fence posts are white, which was my mother's choice. My father wanted them to be black, but I think everyone knew who was going to win that argument." I chuckled to myself, the foal's eyes were glued to me now. "We have many Euphorians, a lot of them came from situations just like yours little one."
I had closed my eyes when speaking so I could travel back to my beloved home. But I opened them immediately when I heard the shuffling of hoofs. The green eyed foal was now standing, his face next to mine. I smiled, knowing what he wanted. I put a small halter around his face and led him outside of the pen. We walked over to a small grove of trees and sat down, where I finished my story. {435 words} Also I hope it’s alright I assumed he is an appaloosa haha
