Username: Thunder.Collects
Name: Heronfall
Gender: Female
Clan: CreekClan
Age: 42 Moons
Rank: Warrior

Prompt: (500 Words)
Sunlight showed down on the forest, dappling the ground with the light as it went through the leaves. It was a perfect day for some hunting, there was a gentle breeze and it was warm out, the clouds were large, fluffy, and white, signs of a perfect day. CreekClan warriors were spending time on extra patrols or hunting to enjoy the nice weather, and Heronfall was no different. The long-haired white and black she-cat was taking part on a morning border patrol on the moor. She was going with Hayfeather, Acornwhisker, and Lochclaw. She didn't have any problems with any of these cats so she was looking forward to the patrol.

As soon as everyone was gathered around Hayfeather she waved her tail and led the way out of camp. Heronfall followed the deputy, ears twitching as she breathed in the spring air. The breeze felt nice on her pelt, ruffling it slightly, and the sunlight warmed her back. Lochclaw and Hayfeather were in the lead having a conversation about the nice weather and the amazing hunting recently, both of which Heronfall agreed with. It really has been a perfect season, but that made her even more worried about winter. They were very fortunate now, but did that mean they would lose more lives this winter?

Heronfall paused, seeing a flinting silver object a few fox-lengths from the patrol, laying in a pile of leaves. She turned away from the patrol, meowing out to Hayfeather, and leading the patrol towards the object. There, sitting in a bed of leaves, was a large fox trap. Heronfall tilted her head, wondering why the object was here, as Acornwhisker attempted to stick his paw into the metal only to have Heronfall grab his scruff and tug him away.

"Are you mouse-brained?" Heronfall shouted, bristling from head to tail. She wasn't angry, just frightened. She has seen cats die to these traps.

"No, I'm not mouse-brained." Acornwhisker stammered, taking a step back and staring at the metal object. "What is that thing?"

"It's a fox trap. Can someone find me a stick? I'll show you what it can do." Heronfall meowed, staring nervously at the item. It was so dangerous, they needed to warn Briarstar and the rest of the clan. A moment later Lochclaw returned with a large stick which Heronfall used to demonstrate the danger of the object. It clamped shut on the stick, snapping it in half instantly, leaving the cats shaking nervously.

"We need to get back to camp and tell Briarstar right away. Lochclaw, can you and Acornwhisker go there fast? I need to search the area for more of these traps and keep cats away from them." The tom nodded, leading the other color-pointed tom towards camp fast, the two looking around for any traps on the way.

Hayfeather turned towards Heronfall, eyes full of sadness and fear, even if her composure was still strong and brave. "We need to find all of these traps. This is dangerous."

    Username: sharpiesandhamilton
    Name: witheringbristle
    Gender: tom
    Clan: wolverineclan
    Age: thirty-six moons
    Rank: warrior/sleet fighter

Prompt: [ three hundred seventy-four words / five hundred words ]
witheringbristle crept out of camp, throwing glances over his shoulder to make sure no cat followed him. his eyes narrowed against the early morning sun, the snow turning to slush beneath his paws as the temperature finally rose enough to partially melt it. he slipped over boulders and stones, galloping across the territory as he searched for the familiar cave. he slid to a stop in front of a small hole in the side of a cliff, purring as he went inside. tiny chirps filled his heart with joy as he wrapped his body around four tiny orange bodies. he lapped their ears lovingly as they poked their oddly sharp snouts into his pelt, searching for milk. "you won't find any, little ones," he whispered as he pulled a stored mouse over to where they were laying.

he chewed the prey into a pulp, spitting it out at the muzzle of each fox cub so they could eat. he remembered finding them nearly a quarter moon before. they were growing healthily, considering that he'd found their mother starved. she didn't stand a chance when witheringbristle fought her in self defense, but the cries of her cubs had broken his heart. that day, he started caring for them. he came each morning to feed them, and then again in the evening. he left them covered in moss and vines to camouflage them in case any cat found them, but also to warm their tiny bodies. he'd named them, three she-cubs and one little male. there was brightkit, redkit, softkit, and russetkit. russetkit was the little male. he nuzzled them as he realized it was time to get going. "i'll be back this evening, my loves," he whispered.

as he left the hidden cave, he steeled his face back to the personality that was familiar throughout wolverineclan. he was cold, distant, and seemed to have no emotions. he couldn't let his clanmates know he had a soft side for kits. even those of another species. he cast one look back over his shoulder as brightkit scrambled clumsily over her brother. he smiled, flicking his ears and tail as he took off across his territory. he still had a clan to provide for, after all.

Username: Ladyskittels
Name: Night of the Witch "Hazel"
Gender: female
Clan: Gladeclan (Glacial Blizzard clan for now)
Age: 45 moons
Rank: Necromancer

Prompt: [458 / 500 words]
The autumn night was still, save for a few branches that shifted in the breeze; no sounds could be heard, not even the normal hoots of the multitude of snowy owls could be heard on this night. An ominous air hung over the forest, casting an atmosphere that was almost overwhelming.

In the dim light of the waning moon crept a black smoke she-cat whose ears swiveled on the top of her head untrustingly, her eyes focused on something in the distance. A noise came from the forest ahead of her, breaking the silence and sent an eerie shiver down her spine. The noise sounded almost like a roar- one from a big cat.

Could it be? The she-cat asked herself, her heart beating faster in her chest with excitement. Out of curiosity, she took a few more daring steps toward where she heard the noise coming from. "Volgamith, is that you?"

The air around her chilled, making her breaths turn to a cold fog able to be seen even in the darkness of the night. Somehow, the night grew darker and the atmosphere of the forest drew more sinister and heavy. "Volgamith, god of the Underworld, gatekeeper of hell, I ask you to show yourself!"

The ground rumbled as a mighty roar echoed off the trees, a shadowy figure showing itself from behind the trees. The only thing the she-cat could see was the pair of piercing orange eyes that glowed like floating orbs. The rest of the figure was cast in shadow, although the molly knew it was the figure of the mighty Black Panther deity that guarded the Underworld. As legend has it, this mighty cat picks one night per year to roam through the forests of the territory, seeking out the souls that had been missed to bring them back down into his ShadowClan.

"You have been searching for the same thing I seek," she breathed, casting her eyes away from the figure that was slowly advancing toward her. "Souls of those who belong to ShadowClan in your realm. I have sent many to you through the years, but one seems to escape me. Please, Volgamith, my lord, aid me in my quest to track down the soul of the sinner who has betrayed the laws of the clan."

Hazel's eyes met those of the demon, which seemed to glow brighter yet. "I offer my soul to host your own so you may wander the earth as a cat. In return, you shall help me in our quest to track down this sinner."

With that, the demon of the Underworld joined part of his soul into that of the black smoke cat. Together, they would continue to hunt down souls that belonged to ShadowClan.

Name: Ravenfeather
Gender: Male
Clan: SkyClan
Age: 19 moons
Rank: Warrior

Prompt: Ravenfeather stood stock still, one paw raised in the air to step over a branch. His yellow eyes were locked onto a slow-moving piece of land. He let the breeze rustle his fur and calm his senses because why was grass moving like that? Ravenfeather wasn't dumb and he wasn't about to find out what it was because this isn't something that just happens. Land doesn't move.

As the object continued it's trek across the ground at a relatively fast pace, Ravenfeather weighed his options. Either he lets this thing go on its way, he goes back and tells Silverheart and Hani, or tell Cinderstep or Acornstar, and create a ruckus. He didn't want to take his eyes off this thing, so he decided to go solo.

Ravenfeather jerked out of his monologue to see no creature in sight. His heart skipped a beat and he rushed forward to find it. And it wasn't hard; the thing was flattening long grass as it walked.

He crept closer, heart racing. Not a single creature was stirring, as if anticipating the reveal as well. Ravenfeather glanced at his paws to check where he was walking, and as he came up behind the creature, he froze. Snap. A small twig under his foot had broke. The thing in front of him paused as well. Ravenfeather's stomach dropped but he impulsively threw a paw out to potentially flip this thing and see what it was. His paws smacked the side of a hard shell and he yanked his paw back. That hurt! But it must've hurt the creature more because it stumbled and layed there like it was stunned.

Ravenfeather took the moment to really examine what he was hunting: it was about the size of a young kit, and had grass strands stuffed on it, wrapped and secured with rope. What the heck? Ravenfeather grimaced in confusion, and flattened his ears. This must be some weird prank. Ravenfeather used his teeth to cut the rope and brushed off the grass.

... A turtle? Ravenfeather huffed loudly, adrenaline leaving his body with such a reveal.

How anti-climatic.

Gender: she-cat
Clan: redwoodclan
Age: 11 moons
Rank: protector apprentice

Prompt: (500/500)
"Yes, Splash?" The silver she-cat questioned, looking at her.
"Why do you take so long eating? I want to go hunt!" Splash complained, bouncing on her paws.
"We've gone training, then on a hunting trip with Canaryglare earlier, you need to learn to find other things to do."
"I'll just go alone then! I have absolutely nothing to do here!"
"Lets kill two birds with one stone, I'll prevent you from doing anything reckless and I'll entertain you with a story."
The black and white cat nodded, she knew it was best to keep silent when the normally sweet she-cat began being more straight-forward in the way she worded things.
The other cat finished her meal, and sighed before she started, "Runningstar and Canaryglare would never want me to tell you this.."
Splash nodded furiously, of course she could keep a secret! It was amongst the long, long list of things she was oh so very good at. Her mentor's eyes scanned the surroundings.
"In the waters nearest to the territory, cats who've strayed to far from their clan with their minds full of ideas to to anything and everything they can have drowned. But since they had unfinished business, they grew ancient under the water and their ghostly bodies grew along with them. They became huge, their fur fell out, and their smooth skin became black and white... They became monsters! They're called the ancients beneath the water, known for feasting on cats with the same intentions they used to have-
I've seen them myself, they're terribly awful creatures. Any light that touches it glints off their smoothened features."

Splash remembered the description that Stonewave told her, what a terrifying beast! Could she ever go out alone again? Well, apparently she could, because she found herself staring at the beast, alone, one night a couple moons after hearing the story. It was more hideous than the description let on, how could that've ever been a cat! Its skinny neck peeked from the water, catching the moonlight off of its wide, black-rimmed ears. The face- it had no eyes! No mouth, no nose, no whiskers... it was a pure, pale white beneath the moon's glow. Splash could even see a smooth pointy tail poking out from behind it...
Oh no! she'd have to report this to Runningstar! How could they live nearr such a thing!
"An orca," A familiar voice noted from behind her, "A rare sighting."
Splash turned to see Runningstar, whose eyes were fixed on it, a what?
"No! That's one of the ancients beneath the water!" Splash returned.
She was shocked as her urgency was returned with a chuckle. He noticed her shock and shook his head.
"Oh no... Stonewave must've told you that story. It's just an old queens' tale to keep the young from doing something bad. My mom told me, to which I told Canaryglare, who must've told Stonewave, and she told you."
Splash turned her head to where the orca had been, "Oh."

Name: Spiderfang
Gender: molly
Clan: Ridgeclan
Age: 45 moons
Rank: warrior

Prompt:
The heavy new leaf storms tended to overflow the river, watching all kinds of debris from the mountain down to the flatlands below. Fallenstone had asked for volunteers to go out and survey the damages, needless to say, Spriderfang was the only one who did. It wasn’t as if it would take more than just herself so she didn’t mind trailing along the river bank by herself. It was nice to be out by herself, even if the river was still rushing and overflowing with water and the banks looked like they wanted to wash away at any moment.

At the bend of the river was where most of the branches and other odd washed down with the storm. β€œOh, this is going to take a while to clean up,” The molly mumbled while she climbed through the fallen trees to make sure that’s all that had come down from the mountain.

A glimmer of light caught the warriors eye, drawing her attention deeper into the brush pile, eyes focus on the sparkling object. Even as she got closer she couldn’t tell what it was, just that it seemed to glow, something she was sure was not normal.

β€œWhat the heck are you?” The molly mumbled as she began pawing at the hard object, a rock almost but she’d never seen a rock that looked like that. It took a moment but she was able to get the rock out of its place in the pile, using her mouth and paws to drag it from the branches. It was heavier then she would have guessed based on its size and even now out of the pile it seemed to glow from within.

β€œA crystal holds the soul of those long gone,” Words brushed in on the wind, a shiver running through Spiderfang’s body at the whispering words.

Her first thought was to drop the stone, to get as far away from it as possible, but for some reason, she kept her paw firm on the crystal as the voice had called it, eyes wide as she gazed into the light. Unknown to her it was just the reflection of the sun, for it just seemed to be coming from within the stone itself.

β€œThis cannot be good,” Spiderfang mumbled, finally able to move her paw from the crystals grasp, standing and stepping away from the stone. β€œCan’t just leave it here for another to find though, if anyone knows what it is though it’ll be Emberheart.”

Did you forget me so soon?
The one who made you,
turned you into this monster?
How sad.

Though I guess it's to be expected,
you always liked to block things out.
If it didn't make sense in your mind,
you just forgot about it.

But maybe it's because I didn't,
make you into a monster that is.
You already were a monster,
weren't you?
