      Clan: Silvercrest Roamers
      Age: 6 moons
      Rank: Apprentice

Prompt: Lily lay beneath a bush, her paws and legs tucked under her body as she hid herself within the darkness. She was waiting for the other cats to retire for the night, watching as bodies entered each of the dens, activity ceasing within the camp. Once everyone seemed to be asleep, she dragged her body forward from out beneath the bush, bolting out of the camp. She was to see her friend, who she had made the first time she had escaped; a routine that she had made daily by the night.

She made her way through the forest, emerging from the thick trees before a river. She slowly crept forward, crouched down as the individual strands of fur on her chest tickled the grass. She took a sharp breath inward before inhaling the scents of the ground through her nose. She was trying to pick up the scene of her precious companion, her ears pricking upward when she heard a rumble from across the river, a soft snore. She rose her head up, her eyes glinting with glee as she leaped to her paws. "There you are!"

She stared at a huge shell on the other side of the river, bounding over the rocks throughout the river before landing before the shell. She sat on her haunches, grinning as the animal slowly let his head out of the shell.

It was a giant tortoise, several decades old, who hung out by the river. Lily had met this tortoise a couple moons ago, and the two seemed to have a tight bond, despite the tortoise being nameless. "It's good to see you two," Lily remarked at the grunt the tortoise made, a soft giggle erupting from her before she leaped up onto the tortoise's shell.

"You know, I really love visiting you... The other cats in that pack are so weird and crazy... You're always there for me though, you're like my best friend." Lily said as she pawed as the turtle's back. The turtle let out another grunt as a response. "Come on, let's take our walk~" Lily cooed as the tortoise began to walk forward, making it's nightly patrol of the river with his cat companion.

Prompt: Every day this kit sneaks out of camp and wanders off, no one knowing why. When the leader Darjstar decided to follow her one day to make sure she wasn't meaning with another clans warriors, he soon found out why she was sneaking out and what he saw was shocking. As he watched the kit, Patchkit walked right up to the mouth of a fox den and needed, soon enough a mother fox peaked her head out and sniffed her, Darjstar prepared to defend the kit when a tiny fox kit wobbled out of the den and started playing with Patchkit while the mother fox flicked her tail and wandered off to find food. When she came back, she didn't shoo off the kit but instead finished her meal and then started grooming not only her own pup but Patchkit as well as those the kitten was her own child. Soon the kit said her goodbyes and headed back to camp, the mother fox watching her leave sadly but knowing better than to stop the kit. Darkstar followed her every step of the way to make sure she was safe.

Name: Littlekit (Littlesky)
Gender: Male
Clan: PetalClan
Age: 3 Moons
Rank: Kit

Prompt:
"Sorrelstar?"
"Yes, Littlekit?"
"What's the sky like? From up above, I mean."
"You mean from the top of the canyon?"
"Yep! It's so far away... The sky must look different from up there."
"I suppose you could say that. I've never really paid much attention to the difference, if there is one."
"Oh."
--
"Frostwish?"
"Yes, Littlekit?"
"What's the sky like, when you stand up at the top of the canyon?"
"Well.. It's.. Blue, I guess. Same as down here."
"Oh.."
--
"Doveflame?"
"Yes, little one?"
"When you stand at the top of the canyon, does the sky look different?"
"That's quite an interesting question. No, I don't think it's any different up there than it is down here."
"Oh..."
--
Littlekit stared up at the great stretch of blue that filled the space between the tips of the tops of the canyon walls. It seemed so, so far away, and Littlekit desperately wanted to be closer. He knew it had to look even more stunning from up close, and nothing could be closer to the sky than the tops of the canyon's infinitely tall walls.

Littlekit reluctantly tilted his head away from the sky, turning instead to look around the camp. All of the adult cats were out hunting or patrolling, making now the perfect time for his grand escape. Littlekit charged towards the tunnel exit, hopping over pebbles and dodging around rocks as he ran. He grinned, excited to at last fulfill his dream of viewing the sky from above the canyon floor.

The kitten paused at the exit tunnel, practically trembling with excitement. He had dreamed of this moment for so long, and now, at last, it was coming true. The kitten trotted up the tunnel, imagining how different the sky would look from above. At last, he reached the end of the tunnel. Littlekit dashed forward, pausing when he reached the mouth of the tunnel.

Littlekit's jaw dropped in wonder. The sky was even more spectacular from up here! The colors were brighter, and he could see so many more clouds. The sky stretched on and on forever in every direction, so far that Littlekit knew he'd never reached the end of it, even if he walked for five lifetimes. It was the most amazing sight Littlekit had ever seen.

Accenting the beauty of the great blue sky were the dozens upon dozens of bright, colorful flowers filling the grass around him. Every color imaginable was present in those flowers, and they looked truly beautiful next to the bright blues of the sky.

Littlekit closed his eyes, feeling so much closer to the sky than he had before. He opened his eyes and, reluctantly, returned to camp. He'd go back again tomorrow.
--
Since his first view of the sky from the top of the canyon, Littlekit has consistently snuck out of camp again and again to see the same sight. He never gets tired of the feeling of awe as he gazes upon the seemingly endless expanse of blue.
[500/500]

Extra:
Littlekit was found by PetalClan when he was less than a moon old. He was hiding in his nest, his head buried his dead mother's fur, with his two dead siblings lying beside him. They had all died of greencough, but he, by some miracle, had survived. The patrol, consisting of Sorrelstar and Doveflame, brought the kitten back to camp, where he was fed extremely well-chewed food, given water, and checked over by their temporary medicine cat, Frostwish. Within a few days, the kitten, which the Clan had named Littlekit after the fact that he was the runt of his litter, was back to full health. However, it took a few weeks longer for him to recover from the trauma of losing his family. Littlekit's main coping mechanism is trying to forget. Since he was so young when his family died, forgetting them isn't too difficult. Everyone in PetalClan has basically adopted him as their kitten, and he's accepted PetalClan as his new family.
Due to PetalClan's small number, Littlekit is often left alone in camp while his Clanmates are out hunting. Littlekit spends this alone time studying the small pieces of nature present in the bottom of the canyon. Littlekit pays attention to even the slightest details, and can entertain himself for hours by simply watching the light reflect off a shiny pebble. He also enjoys watching bugs, plants, and water. Most of all, he's fascinated by the great expanse of blue that watches over the canyon: the sky.

Prompt:

"You know, I wondered why you didn't kick up such a fuss when Weblight told you she couldn't find your kit yesterday."

"Shush, brother... and I know, I know. I just... didn't have the heart to make him stop. If nothing else, I can watch over him while he does this."

The two warriors peered out into the undergrowth from their hiding place as they talked as low as possible. Bubbleberry's small kit, Duskkit, crouched innocuously in a bed of lilies as he remained hidden by the thick canopy. Any idle onlooker might mistake him for being asleep, but his quiet, high chirps drifting over to the two said otherwise. The child noticeably tripped over a word every once in a while, but the steadiness in his voice was remarkably different from the stutter he sported in camp. The mound he sat on, though small to any adult cat, tilted his body upwards as his paws kneaded the earth as gently as he possibly could. He rubbed one chubby cheek against the soft petals of the lilies.

"... An' Alderfang took me swimming for the first time today. If you remember while you were here, he took me to the otter’s side of the river. I really wanted to go in deeper, but Alder wouldn’t let me. He thought I did phe-uh— phuh-mominally. I’m gonna be the best swimmer in Floodclan for sure. Maybe my warrior name will be Duskotter.”

A sniffle from her brother, Warrentrot, had Bubbleberry turn her head to be greeted by his odd expression. “...Why do you look constipated?”

“That’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.” Bubbleberry rolled her eyes at her brother’s comment. Turning her attention back on Duskkit, she couldn’t help but agree. What an absolute picture he made.

When she first took her little tom out of camp to visit her mother’s grave, she didn’t think much of it. These days, her memories of her late mother, of such a sweet queen who died far too young, seemed like distant stars in her mind. She told Duskkit of the good things she remembered about Morninglily, and the courage and bravery she had to bring herself to Floodclan to give her and her brother a better life. From day one, her mother was willing to risk it all for her babies. All for love.

Bubbleberry always did stress to Duskkit that words can connect you to your loved ones like nothing else.

And Duskkit, sweet, empathetic Duskkit, took it to heart.

“And to think Bubbie, all it took for Duskkit to work through his stutter was to get some advice from grandma.”

Bubbleberry smiled, but the sheen to her eyes was unmistakable. “Moms always know best.”

“Should we join him?” Warren asked, and Bubbleberry thought for a moment before shaking her head. “This time is just for him and his grandma.”

Duskkit’s wistful voice drifted over to them again. “...I’m sure you’d love it, Morninglily…”

Bubbleberry's breath hitched. You would love it, Momma.

"Morninglily!... I'm getting my warrior's name tomorrow. I can't believe how nervous I am."

Duskpaw wove his paws between the stems of the lilies and vines as he sat down on his grandma's resting place. He dwarfed the mound, now. Like ritual, he rubbed his cheeks against the bright petals, but no longer were his features soft with kitten fat. He rolled over to stare up into the canopy of the trees, and distinctly noticed space were an oak once hung its branches. The fierce storm right before his apprentice ceremony knocked it down long ago. Duskpaw was glad for it, nonetheless; it meant his grandma's lilies got more sun. And sun was nice.

He blew a hanging petal out of his face. "Mom fell ill, but she should be getting better soon. She said she wouldn't miss my naming ceremony for anything, but I think Lilyfrost is still worried her cough might spread... I don't wanna have her miss it anyway. I hope you're able to come, too."

The only reply was the slight breeze through the trees. "...I know you're happy up in Starclan, Grandma, but I do wish you were here, sometimes. Don't worry, I'm gonna be the best fighter this clan has ever seen. Not sure if I want Duskotter anymore, though. Uncle Warren says it's not bad that my visits have gone down, but still, I'm sorry about that. I'll bring another dahlia next time."

Duskpaw whispered his next words. "Wish me luck."

Rank: kit

Prompt: Leopardkit has a nasty habit of sneaking out of the camp to go on adventures; adventures he keeps secret from everyone, although when he returns he is always in a better mood. So, the question is- where is it that he goes?

"I have a lot of friends that I go to see, when I'm out," the seal lynx point chirped upon asking, a sense of mystery in his expression. "We do lots of fun things together, like go hunting or play pretend! My favorite is where we play adventurers and explore the deep jungle!"

The kit giggled and shook his head before wandering off back to his den where his mother was. Curious as to where this kit went when he was on an adventure, I decided to follow him in secret the next time he went out.

Sure enough, the day after answering my questions, the sneaky Leopardkit slunk out of the den when his mother's back was turned and made his way to the forest. Quietly as a stalking predator, I followed behind the kit, eager to learn the secret behind his adventures. Upon entering the forest, I saw the young kit pawing the trunk of a tall tree before he sat and waited patiently for something.

Wanting to fulfill my quest, I waited with him, checking every so often to see if there was any change to his posture or what he was doing. Finally, the kit craned his neck upward to look up the trunk of the tree, a huge smile on his face. "Finally! I've been waiting for ages!" He said in a slight whine.

I looked up the trunk of the tree as well, although I couldn't see anything there. I waited a while longer figuring that the figure of whatever he was talking to was still hiding in the branches and leaves higher up in the trees.

Leopardkit's smile widened as his head started to return to a normal position- although I still could not see anything there. "What do you want to do today?" Leopardkit asked the air in front of him and waited for a few moments before replying. "That's a great idea! You have the best ideas, Pixie!"

Shaking my head in disbelief, I watched as the young kit romped around with the air he called "Pixie" and appeared to be playing with something that wasn't there. He seemed fairly content, playing and laughing, and as I returned to my clan I smiled as I realized what was happening; Leopardkit had been sneaking out every day to play with his imaginary friend.

Name: Arguskit (Argusbay in the future)
Gender: Tom
Clan: GealachClan
Age: 5 Moons
Rank: Kit

Prompt:
The small, brown-furred kit sat at the edge of the camp, absentmindedly grooming his fur. Or so anyone who walked past would assume. Instead, Arguskit was acting as nonchalant as he possibly could whilst keeping alert and noting who would spot him if he left.

The sun was slowly creeping higher in the clear sky, a fact Argus kit was anxiously aware of. 'It's almost time...' He told himself, pausing in his grooming act to survey the camp. Most cats were out, completing their warrior duties or training, while a few relaxed in the camp as they awaited the return of their companions. Sunhigh was approaching, slowly but surely, and soon the camp would be full of cats, returning to share meals with their friends and family while the hottest time of day passed.

'I gotta go, or I'll never get out!' Arguskit shuffled his paws gently and stood up, sniffing at some long fronds of grass beside the entrance. One final glance to confirm the coast was clear, and the small, pointed kit slipped through the entrance.

He moved quickly, aware that being around the camp entrance was the highest opportunity for him to be caught. A quick sniff of the ground allowed him to catch the day-old scents of his clanmates, Cottonbrook and Dawnwhisker, and he rapidly followed the trail. Excitement was brimming from the kitten as he bounced along, a wide grin beaming across his dark face, eager to see the sight he was so fond of.

And there it was.

Dashes of colour fluttered about, the strong sunhigh light radiating across the clearing. A gentle breeze trickled across his fur and through the opening, and he took it as a sign to enter, placing himself

Arguskit was in awe. Butterflies, dozens upon dozens of them drifted to and fro, the wildflowers of the Flower Glen vibrant in the rays of the golden sun. It was incredible to watch as the butterflies freely flew from plant to plant. A few brushed against his fur or landed briefly on his back, and he fought the urge to laugh at the gentle, ticking sensation of their wings and bodies against him.

He'd heard about the Flower Glem from Dawnwhisker about a moon ago, as the older molly explained to him that she would go there each evening with her mate, Cottonbrook, and relax in the colourful clearing, and how butterflies would frequent the spot due to the abundance of wildflowers. Fascinated, Arguskit was determined to catch a glimpse of his namesake, but upon seeing the range of stunning colours, he had forgotten his initial goal in favour of merely just... watching. They were so delicate, so swift yet sweet in their movements, and so peaceful.

His absolute favourite, though, were the orange butterflies. Their wings reminded him of his mother’s eyes; amber-tinted with darker flecks, and always gentle, always warm.

Arguskit knew that he would always love this spot, for its serenity and welcoming silence, and would always visit.

Extra:
“Arguskit, what in the stars are you doing out here?”

The pointed kitten jumped at the sudden voice, and gulped upon realising it was his mother. He slowly turned around, blue eyes wide with fear over being caught. His lowered his head as his mother approached, a stern look on her face.

“I wanted to see the butterflies.” What better response could he give, what excuse could he provide, if not the truth? He knew he wasn’t supposed to leave camp unsupervised, but he felt like his butterfly watching was something his siblings would tease him for.

His mother stared at him for a few moments, narrowing her eyes as she considered his reply, before her face softened, the warmth returning to her eyes. Guilt crept into his pelt.

“If you wanted to look, you should have asked, you silly fluffball. I was worried about you,” His mother responded, giving his pelt a few motherly licks.

“I know, I just… I felt like it was a silly thing to ask for… I mean, I’m nearly an apprentice! I should probably change what I like, but…” Arguskit replied, keeping his voice low as to not disturb the peace of the Flower Glen.

His mother looked at him fondly. “You don’t have to change what you like, Arguskit. Just next time, don’t break the rules.”

“I promise, momma. Can we stay a bit longer?” Arguskit glanced up to his mother, hope filling his blue eyes.

“Just a bit longer.”
