ahhh I love this cat so much!
Username: fluffy kitty cat
Cat Name: tigerflame

Gender: male
Rank: warrior
Age: 27
Clan: honeybeeclan

Prompt:

Tigerflame felt his nerves rushing through him as he hid in the dark, prickly bramble thicket. Honeybeecloud’s warm pelt pressed against the warrior from one side, and Torrentstar’s on the other. But there was nothing that could calm his nerves.

Why are you so nervous? He asked himself. You’ve been in plenty of battles before mouse-brain! But somehow this was different, something in his spine that told him that he should run away now. He glanced at Honeybeecloud, expecting to see the same thing on the deputy’s face, but all Tigerflame saw was fierce determination. After this battle, one of the clans would have the whole woods to themselves, the warrior realized, and neither was ready to lose.

Suddenly, Torrentstar let out a battle cry from beside him, and the big gray tom had left from his post and was sprinting into the enemy camp. The Cryptclan cats however, were waiting, and as Tigerflame’s leader launched himself into their mob, his coat disappeared into the throng of yowling cats.

Bracing himself for the impact, Tigerflame closed his eyes and slashed widely at fur wherever his paws could find it. He peeked open his bright green eyes and sought after a Cryptclan cat. He swiped at the shoulders of a big white molly before he felt his legs kicked out from underneath him. Landing on the ground with a grunt and ouch of pain, Tigerflame opened his eyes to see the bright green eyes of his new attacker.

“Owlfern.” He hissed, scrambling to his paws so he was able to stand just a mouselength taller than her. Owlfern was definitely the last cat that Tigerflame wanted to see at the battle. Many moons ago, the two had fallen in love as apprentices, the gold each other that they would never be apart, and that the clans would never separate them. However, life got in the way, and Tigerflame ended it, breaking the molly’s poor heart.

“I’m glad I finally have permission to kill you Tigerflame.” She cooed, “it will be quite enjoyable.”

Fear coursed through his veins, both leaders had given their cats permission to kill any enemy cat they saw, even though it was against the warrior code. But this wouldn’t be the first time Tigerflame witnessed Owlfern kill.

He bunched his hindquarters and leapt at her, stretching out his claws to reach her light brown fur. But however her front paws were already there, pummeling his chest and forcing him into the ground. Pain shot through Tigerflame’s chest as he forced himself to his paws. “Mousedung.” He cursed under his breath.”

“You’ll have to try better than that Tigerflame! We trained together you know!” Owlfern laughed, the sound rolling through his ears and filling his heart with anger.

The molly rushed at him, hammering the warrior with blows, forcing him to take many steps back or be flattened by her fury. Tigerflame launched his own respective hit at her ear, feeling the skin tear beneath his claws. His opponent yelped at the sudden pain but barely broke her attack, and the onslaught of blows kept coming.

Ducking down, Tigerlfame rolled onto his spine, then rolled underneath of his attacker, throwing her off guard and sending her plummeting to the ground. He leapt, clawing at Owlfern with newfound strength, however, all she did was smile menacingly.

“Looks like you’ve learned a lot.” She hissed, smiling ear to ear like the Cheshire Cat. Tigerflame’s stomach lurched, where was his clan’s backup?! The warrior glanced around, dread crashing over him. Wherever he looked his clanmates were being beaten. He couldn’t find any Hornetclan cats who were winning their battles. Gritting his teeth, Tigerflame rushed at his opponent again, desperate not to let his failing clan down.

The warrior’s claws met the Cryptclan cat’s jaw, dislodging three of her teeth with a painful yowl. She latched her claws into his fur and the pair tumbled down a small rise, clawing and biting at each other viciously. Tigerflame broke away, blood dripping from a scratch over his eye, making it hard for him to see. Where did she go?

As if on cue, sharp claws dug into Tigerflame’s side, throwing him off balance and sending him reeling into a large alder tree. Head spinning, the tom lashed his claws at Owlfern’s silhouette, hooking them on her tiny pink nose. She yowled in pain, earning Tigerflame another blow to the head.

The warrior laid on the ground in the shade of the alder tree, his fur slick with his blood and the blood of his former love. It was too much, he couldn’t fight her to the death like this, she used to love him, and maybe… there was something in him that still loved her too.

Tigerflame pushed himself to his paws, turning and facing Owlfern, he could barely see her through the blood in his face, but he knew she was watching him as closely as he was to her.

“Owlfern… why do you want to hurt me? I didn’t mean to hurt you… I was trying to let you have a better life, a life without me. I was trying to save your heart, not break it. But I broke it, and I’m sorry. I still love you Owlfern… and I know you still love me.”

Thick silence hung in the air, and Owlfern came closer, slowly, the molly reaches up with her paw and wiped the blood from his face.

“Of course I still love you.” She whispered.

Tigerflame growled, unsheathing his claws and pinning Owlfern to the ground. He lashed at her shoulder with a hiss. She shrieked with terror and betrayal, spitting the ugliest of curses at her love.

Tigerflame raised his claw above Owlfern’s throat, poised for the kill, but her sad whimperings made him pause.

“Please… Tigerflame… don’t kill me. Please.” The molly pleaded, true guilt gleaming in her eyes. What do I do? He thought. Here was a cat, who moments before had just tried to kill him, now was pleading for her life. His leader had ordered him to kill but yet… he couldn’t.

“Why are you hesitating, kill her!” Came and angry growled for behind him. Tigerflame swiveled his head to see Torrentstar gazing back at him, yellow eyes furious.

“No! Don’t kill me! I surrender! Please!” Owlfern screamed.

“Kill her Tigerflame! Kill her or you’ll never be allowed back in Hornetclan again!”

“I don’t want to die! Please Tigerflame! You could always live in Cryptclan with me! Just please don’t let me die!”

Tigerflame’s mind was spinning, his vision turned hazy, he couldn’t think straight. Voices screamed in his brain, telling him what to do, everything from his children hood came crashing back. He got dizzy, the few things he could still see turning and spinning until he lost his footing and came crashing to the ground.

The moment he hit the leafy forest floor he was returned to his senses. “No! Tigerflame shouted as Torrentstar let out a howl of dejection, hurtling himself towards Owlfern. He ripped at her fur and drove his teeth into her throat as if she were a mouse.

“No!” The warrior shouted again, but it was no use. Why couldn’t Torrentstar have just let him handle the situation. Anger boiled up inside of him, and he advanced on his leader, claws unsheathed.

“Why couldn’t you have just let me handle it?!” He spat, nothingness in his leader’s eyes. “I was managing the fight just fine. Don’t you have some other cat that you can pamper and harass and force to kill a friend?! Do you know how hard it is to kill a cat, no wait, you wouldn’t because you just sit around and let other cats do your dirty work for you.”

“You never were the kind of cat who could control their temper were you Tigerflame?” His leader answered, emotions under control. However, his plain response only made Tigerflame angrier. How could he not care? How could Torrentstar act like his words didn’t bother him.

“I might not be able to control my temper but at least I control my claws!” Suddenly, Tigerflame’s eyes widened, a large orange tabby Cryptclan can snuck up behind the fighting cats and knocked his paw into Torrentstar’s spine. The Hornetclan leader’s eyes flushed before clouding over, the snap of the bone so loud it could’ve been heard for miles.

Tigerflame’s heart plummeted. Torrentstar had been alive just moments before, the victim of his warrior’s mad fury. He waited for life to return to his body, the sign that a leader still had lives left, but it didn’t happen, Torrentstar had lost his last life, and it was all Tigerflame’s fault.

“Why?!” He screeched at the sky, “why must you take everyone away?!” But the only answer he got was a twinkle of the stars on an endless black blanket, watching over a brown cat mourn over to bodies while an unwinnable battle raged on around him.

Cat Name: Pinestep

Gender: Male
Rank: Warrior
Age: 31 Moons
Clan: PetalClan

Prompt: [2000/2000]
Pinekit crept silently around the rock cluster, placing his paws in precisely the right places to disguise his footsteps. His mother's training had been extensive, and stalking had been her main focus thus far. The kitten could not afford to make a wrong move; Brightstar was watching his every step.

Pinekit had almost made it around the rock now, and had yet to displace a pebble or make a single wrong move. He grinned in triumph.

    And stumbled.

His concentration had broken for a split second, and the rock he had been standing on shifted to the side the slightest bit, making an almost imperceivably quiet noise. Pinekit froze, terrified that Brighstar had noticed his fault. He didn't dare look up, for fear he would make another error.

After a few moments without the Clan leader scolding him for his failure, Pinekit decided that his mistake must have gone unnoticed. He continued forward, pausing when he at last reached the right side. The kit positioned his limbs for a properly executed leap, then pushed off and flew gracefully through the air.

Pinekit's paws hit the ground slightly louder than expected, causing the kit to cringe and miss his chance to dodge Sootkit's paw swipe. The other kitten's paw cuffed Pinekit's ears, but missed his face. That'll cost him a few points, Pinekit thought with satisfaction.

Pinekit lunged forward as Sootkit pulled his paw back. The brown kitten grabbed Sootkit's scruff, drawing a sharp mew of pain, but no blood. Sootkit scrambled to twist his front legs around to claw at Pinekit's stomach, and Pinekit responded by scratching aggressively with his hind paws. Pinekit hit Sootkit's front legs, knocking the black kit onto his side. At this point, Pinekit had already won. He released his grip on Sootkit's scruff, immediately pinning the other kit down with one paw on his head, and another on his neck.

Sootkit, as Pinekit had learned from practice battles, had always been one to give up easily. Sure enough, the kitten stopped struggling, and the supervising warrior announced Pinekit as the winner, with a lead of ten points. Pinekit backed up, allowing Sootkit to stand up. Both kits sat down side-by-side, facing their Clan leader to await the final judgement.

Brightstar nodded just barely, a sign of her approval of the fight. Without using any words, her posture managed to convey that she was proud of their progress, but at least mildly disappointed at the small errors throughout. The tall she-cat stood up, then turned to walk away.

Once she was out of sight, Pinekit sighed deeply. He was exhausted from the concentration and energy a precise fight such as that one required, but he knew that BloomClan cats, from kits to elders, couldn't afford to take breaks. Breaks led to laziness, which led to imperfection. He stood up, ready for the next battle lesson with his mother.

Pinepaw leapt through the air, his strong hind legs propelling him higher than anticipated. Sootpaw, immediately noticing Pinepaw's error, slid underneath Pinepaw on the loosely-packed sand. Pinepaw was helpless to stop the other apprentice from attacking his stomach. When the few seconds of 'flight' ended, Pinepaw and Sootpaw were again facing each other, but with one key difference.

    Pinepaw was bleeding.

The apprentice gritted his teeth against the pain pulsing from the scratches on his belly, knowing full well that there wasn't even the slightest chance of his mentor calling off the practice battle. "You need to experience the real thing," she had said earlier today. "Otherwise, you'll make a mistake in a real battle, when the stakes are much higher."

Sootpaw's fluffed-up tail swished back and forth suddenly, which Pinepaw had learned meant he was about to pounce. Pinepaw reared backwards as Sootpaw sprung towards him, hoping the other tom would stumble when he landed on the ground rather than his back. As the other apprentice fell towards him, Pinepaw realized that he had yet again made a horrible error. His belly was exposed.

Yet again, Sootpaw took advantage of his fellow apprentice's mistake, stretching his paws out and clawing at Pinepaw's stomach a moment before he hit the ground. Pinepaw cringed back, the sudden pain swallowing all of his battle training.

Sootpaw, noticing that his fellow apprentice was suffering, seemed to stop pushing as hard. As Pinepaw returned to all fours, the other apprentice cuffed him over the ears, but his claws remained sheathed.

"Unsheathe your claws, Sootpaw!" Sootpaw's mentor called out. Sootpaw paused, turning to face his mentor instead. He opened his mouth, likely to begin speaking, but Pinepaw didn't give him the chance.

Pinepaw forced the pain deep down, concentrating on believing in his mental ability to do so, as his mentor had taught him to do. As soon as he could think clearly, Pinepaw exploded against his opponent. That was all he was. In this moment, Sootpaw wasn't his friend, wasn't even his Clanmate. Just his opponent.

The tabbied apprentice smacked his opponent on the side of the face, and immediately followed the attack with a series of quick, offensive blows with his front paws, then a bite to the other cat's ear. As the black tom turned to retaliate, Pinepaw whirled around and kicked with his back legs. It was a complex move, one that his mentor had only briefly covered yesterday, but Pinepaw managed to execute it nearly perfect. His feat didn't go unnoticed by the now-growing crowd, which gasped in shock.

As Pinepaw spun around again, he realized that his Clanmates might not have been surprised at his kick, but rather at Sootpaw's injury. The apprentice had collapsed on his side, his breathing ragged with pain. Pinepaw's trance broke, and he rushed to Sootpaw's side. Since it was clear who had won the fight, neither of the supervising mentors scolded Pinepaw's behavior.

Pinepaw crouched down, noticing a deep scratch on his friend's face. The gash was bleeding rapidly, and had just barely missed Sootpaw's eye. Pinepaw backed up, shocked. Had he really done that?

Pinestep trotted along the border, his overly-eager apprentice only a step behind. "Should I mark the border here, too?" Pricklepaw asked, her excitement evident in her bouncy walk.

Pinestep smiled; although she could be quite annoying at times, Pricklepaw's energy and excitement were contagious. "No," Pinestep replied. "We just marked it two fox lengths back; I don't think any cat would be stupid enough to miss the border here."

Pricklepaw nodded her agreement, then froze. She tilted her head up, sniffing the air carefully.

    "What's wrong?" Pinestep asked.

"I think..." Pricklepaw paused, squinting in thought. "I think I smell a strange cat."

Pinestep opened his mouth to confirm Pricklepaw's assessment. With his focus more on the scents in the air than his physical surroundings, Pinestep completely missed the coming attack.

An orange tabby leapt out of the bushes near the border, landing squarely on Pinestep's shoulders. The brown tabby's legs buckled, and he tumbled to the ground. Pricklepaw's fur bristled, and she hissed in anger. A moment later, the heavy weight was removed from Pinestep's shoulders.

Pinestep didn't pause for a break; breaks were only lost time, and his apprentice was most certainly not prepared to fight with the skill of a BloomClan warrior. The brown tabby charged around his apprentice, who was furiously exchanging forepaw swipes with the now-confused intruder. He lunged at the other cat's neck, missing only because of the cat's quick reflexes.

Pinestep, now between his apprentice and the enemy, hissed furiously, his fluffed-up tail whipping back and forth like a tree branch in a powerful storm. The enemy seemed scared, but also determined not to back off.

"Go get backup," Pinestep whispered to Pricklepaw. He couldn't see if she nodded in response or not, but the sound of disappearing footsteps confirmed that she had obeyed.

As Pricklepaw left, the enemy cat barreled towards Pinestep, almost managing to take the warrior by surprise. Pinestep side-stepped at the last moment, then twisted and clawed his opponent's flank. The other cat hissed in pain, immediately moving off to the side to lick their wound. The foolish cat had obviously never been in a real battle before, and would be easy to drive away without tooth and claw. The only problem was, simply telling the cat to leave would be breaking BloomClan rules; Pinestep needed to "teach them a lesson," as his leader had put it.

Pinestep prepared for his next attack, planning to target the cat's ears this time. Right before he pounced, his apprentice and four other BloomClan warriors charged into the clearing. Pricklepaw must have found a nearby patrol.

The fight was quick and clean, and ended with the intruder pinned down by two other cats, positioned so that his throat was exposed. Pinestep shuttered when he realized that the deputy, Bramblethorn, was holding the struggling cat's head. The tom was well-known for his ruthlessness, and the leader had so far done nothing to hold the deputy back.

"Kill it," Bramblethorn demanded. He used "it" to make the cat seem more like an object, or a piece of prey, than a living, breathing, terrified cat. It was a harsh, terrible demand, and it went against every inner moral Pinestep had ever had.

But Pinestep obeyed. Pinestep always obeyed.

    Pinestep had had enough.

After much contemplation, he was leaving BloomClan.

The tom snuck out of camp, then headed towards the border. He hopped over a log, and was shocked to find his Clan leader sitting in the clearing beyond. Pinestep retreat unnoticed, but failed.

"Pinestep!" Brightstar called out. "Where are you going?"

Pinestep took a deep breath, then leapt back over the log. He's just have to tell her the truth. "I'm leaving BloomClan," the tom announced, standing a few fox lengths away from Brightstar. Pinestep tried to judge her reaction, but her face remained as emotionless as ever.

"No," she said, the anger in her voice not at all matching her calm expression.

"I... I don't need your permission," Pinestep meowed nervously. Something flickered in his leader's eyes, and, a moment later, Brighstar was charging towards Pinestep.

Pinestep's instincts took over, and he recognized that his opponent's tactic was going to be reckless with anger. Calmly, Pinestep twisted away from the charging she-cat, and shoved her to the ground with his front paws. The warrior placed a paw on her head and a paw on her side, assuming it would be enough to hold the angry cat down.

    It wasn't.

She shoved Pinestep off with a surprising burst of strength, then lashed out viciously, her claws aimed for Pinestep's throat. He jumped back just enough to dodge the blow, and retaliated by clawing the other cat's ear. Blood droplets splattered to the side, but his opponent showed no sign of pain.

The she-cat lunged forward, and the two fighting cats locked into a wrestling match of sorts. After a quick tussle, Pinestep ended up pinned on his back, his belly exposed to the sharp claws of his opponent's hind legs.

"No one leaves my Clan," she hissed, preparing for a killing blow.

Pinestep panicked, and reacted exactly as he had been trained to do. He stretched his neck forward, latching his jaws around his opponent's neck. He bit down, hard, until at last his opponent went limp.

Pinestep crawled free, then ran off without looking back.

Pinestep turned, looking down the hill at the Clan he was leaving. Scenes of his fights for BloomClan flashed before his eyes. His first kit assessment. Scarring Sootstreak. Killing the loner. And, finally, his escape, in which he was forced to take a life from his own leader.

The tom bowed his head for a moment, saddened by all the harm he had caused, yet still excited to start a new life, outside of BloomClan. He raised his head, looking up at the stars as he whispered his final good-byes.

It might have been his imagination, but he could have sworn the stars winked at him.
