ahhh I love this cat so much!
Username: fluffy kitty cat
Cat Name: tigerflame
Gender: male
Rank: warrior
Age: 27
Clan: honeybeeclan Prompt: Tigerflame felt his nerves rushing through him as he hid in the dark, prickly bramble thicket. Honeybeecloud’s warm pelt pressed against the warrior from one side, and Torrentstar’s on the other. But there was nothing that could calm his nerves.
Why are you so nervous? He asked himself. You’ve been in plenty of battles before mouse-brain! But somehow this was different, something in his spine that told him that he should run away now. He glanced at Honeybeecloud, expecting to see the same thing on the deputy’s face, but all Tigerflame saw was fierce determination. After this battle, one of the clans would have the whole woods to themselves, the warrior realized, and neither was ready to lose.
Suddenly, Torrentstar let out a battle cry from beside him, and the big gray tom had left from his post and was sprinting into the enemy camp. The Cryptclan cats however, were waiting, and as Tigerflame’s leader launched himself into their mob, his coat disappeared into the throng of yowling cats.
Bracing himself for the impact, Tigerflame closed his eyes and slashed widely at fur wherever his paws could find it. He peeked open his bright green eyes and sought after a Cryptclan cat. He swiped at the shoulders of a big white molly before he felt his legs kicked out from underneath him. Landing on the ground with a grunt and ouch of pain, Tigerflame opened his eyes to see the bright green eyes of his new attacker.
“Owlfern.” He hissed, scrambling to his paws so he was able to stand just a mouselength taller than her. Owlfern was definitely the last cat that Tigerflame wanted to see at the battle. Many moons ago, the two had fallen in love as apprentices, the gold each other that they would never be apart, and that the clans would never separate them. However, life got in the way, and Tigerflame ended it, breaking the molly’s poor heart.
“I’m glad I finally have permission to kill you Tigerflame.” She cooed, “it will be quite enjoyable.”
Fear coursed through his veins, both leaders had given their cats permission to kill any enemy cat they saw, even though it was against the warrior code. But this wouldn’t be the first time Tigerflame witnessed Owlfern kill.
He bunched his hindquarters and leapt at her, stretching out his claws to reach her light brown fur. But however her front paws were already there, pummeling his chest and forcing him into the ground. Pain shot through Tigerflame’s chest as he forced himself to his paws. “Mousedung.” He cursed under his breath.”
“You’ll have to try better than that Tigerflame! We trained together you know!” Owlfern laughed, the sound rolling through his ears and filling his heart with anger.
The molly rushed at him, hammering the warrior with blows, forcing him to take many steps back or be flattened by her fury. Tigerflame launched his own respective hit at her ear, feeling the skin tear beneath his claws. His opponent yelped at the sudden pain but barely broke her attack, and the onslaught of blows kept coming.
Ducking down, Tigerlfame rolled onto his spine, then rolled underneath of his attacker, throwing her off guard and sending her plummeting to the ground. He leapt, clawing at Owlfern with newfound strength, however, all she did was smile menacingly.
“Looks like you’ve learned a lot.” She hissed, smiling ear to ear like the Cheshire Cat. Tigerflame’s stomach lurched, where was his clan’s backup?! The warrior glanced around, dread crashing over him. Wherever he looked his clanmates were being beaten. He couldn’t find any Hornetclan cats who were winning their battles. Gritting his teeth, Tigerflame rushed at his opponent again, desperate not to let his failing clan down.
The warrior’s claws met the Cryptclan cat’s jaw, dislodging three of her teeth with a painful yowl. She latched her claws into his fur and the pair tumbled down a small rise, clawing and biting at each other viciously. Tigerflame broke away, blood dripping from a scratch over his eye, making it hard for him to see. Where did she go?
As if on cue, sharp claws dug into Tigerflame’s side, throwing him off balance and sending him reeling into a large alder tree. Head spinning, the tom lashed his claws at Owlfern’s silhouette, hooking them on her tiny pink nose. She yowled in pain, earning Tigerflame another blow to the head.
The warrior laid on the ground in the shade of the alder tree, his fur slick with his blood and the blood of his former love. It was too much, he couldn’t fight her to the death like this, she used to love him, and maybe… there was something in him that still loved her too.
Tigerflame pushed himself to his paws, turning and facing Owlfern, he could barely see her through the blood in his face, but he knew she was watching him as closely as he was to her.
“Owlfern… why do you want to hurt me? I didn’t mean to hurt you… I was trying to let you have a better life, a life without me. I was trying to save your heart, not break it. But I broke it, and I’m sorry. I still love you Owlfern… and I know you still love me.”
Thick silence hung in the air, and Owlfern came closer, slowly, the molly reaches up with her paw and wiped the blood from his face.
“Of course I still love you.” She whispered.
Tigerflame growled, unsheathing his claws and pinning Owlfern to the ground. He lashed at her shoulder with a hiss. She shrieked with terror and betrayal, spitting the ugliest of curses at her love.
Tigerflame raised his claw above Owlfern’s throat, poised for the kill, but her sad whimperings made him pause.
“Please… Tigerflame… don’t kill me. Please.” The molly pleaded, true guilt gleaming in her eyes. What do I do? He thought. Here was a cat, who moments before had just tried to kill him, now was pleading for her life. His leader had ordered him to kill but yet… he couldn’t.
“Why are you hesitating, kill her!” Came and angry growled for behind him. Tigerflame swiveled his head to see Torrentstar gazing back at him, yellow eyes furious.
“No! Don’t kill me! I surrender! Please!” Owlfern screamed.
“Kill her Tigerflame! Kill her or you’ll never be allowed back in Hornetclan again!”
“I don’t want to die! Please Tigerflame! You could always live in Cryptclan with me! Just please don’t let me die!”
Tigerflame’s mind was spinning, his vision turned hazy, he couldn’t think straight. Voices screamed in his brain, telling him what to do, everything from his children hood came crashing back. He got dizzy, the few things he could still see turning and spinning until he lost his footing and came crashing to the ground.
The moment he hit the leafy forest floor he was returned to his senses. “No! Tigerflame shouted as Torrentstar let out a howl of dejection, hurtling himself towards Owlfern. He ripped at her fur and drove his teeth into her throat as if she were a mouse.
“No!” The warrior shouted again, but it was no use. Why couldn’t Torrentstar have just let him handle the situation. Anger boiled up inside of him, and he advanced on his leader, claws unsheathed.
“Why couldn’t you have just let me handle it?!” He spat, nothingness in his leader’s eyes. “I was managing the fight just fine. Don’t you have some other cat that you can pamper and harass and force to kill a friend?! Do you know how hard it is to kill a cat, no wait, you wouldn’t because you just sit around and let other cats do your dirty work for you.”
“You never were the kind of cat who could control their temper were you Tigerflame?” His leader answered, emotions under control. However, his plain response only made Tigerflame angrier. How could he not care? How could Torrentstar act like his words didn’t bother him.
“I might not be able to control my temper but at least I control my claws!” Suddenly, Tigerflame’s eyes widened, a large orange tabby Cryptclan can snuck up behind the fighting cats and knocked his paw into Torrentstar’s spine. The Hornetclan leader’s eyes flushed before clouding over, the snap of the bone so loud it could’ve been heard for miles.
Tigerflame’s heart plummeted. Torrentstar had been alive just moments before, the victim of his warrior’s mad fury. He waited for life to return to his body, the sign that a leader still had lives left, but it didn’t happen, Torrentstar had lost his last life, and it was all Tigerflame’s fault.
“Why?!” He screeched at the sky, “why must you take everyone away?!” But the only answer he got was a twinkle of the stars on an endless black blanket, watching over a brown cat mourn over to bodies while an unwinnable battle raged on around him.
