Birch craned his neck up, gazing at a single tiny pinprick of silvery-blue. It was a star, miniature and unassuming. It wasn't a huge flashy star, it was just a little dot, dim and yet hopeful. It seemed humble.

And yes perhaps it was a little weird to give stars personalities, but hey, sentry duty got boring sometimes, and this certain star seemed to always strike Birch. He could always spot it in the wild jumble of light, shining serenely in the night.
