Hello again!
Here's the second baby inspired by my recent holiday to Austria. Unlike the Noriker which I didn't get to see in the flesh, I actually saw about 8 or 10 Haflingers in the city of Salzburg itself! They were carriage horses, all lined up and ready to take people (mainly tourists) on rides around the historic city of Mozart's birth. My friends and I were in between tourist attractions, so we didn't stand around for very long (didn't even get to take any photos, le cry
), but I was able to watch them for about twenty seconds. They all looked so smart in their carriage tack, the black leather contrasting and framing their soft chestnut colours. Most were dozing off whilst they were waiting for the next lot of people to turn up wanting rides, ears gently splaying out to the sides, one hind hoof raised in relaxation. However in the pair closest to where I was standing one of the ponies started gently nibbling on the muzzle of their partner. It wasn't a vicious gesture, more an affectionate gesture inviting their friend to play. It was lovely to see that, even though these are hardworking horses, even they had the time for rest and play!
