As a kid, my family forced me to do their dirty work. When my family was short of profit and merchandise, I learned how to handle things and get them more money, and more merchandise to sell. I learned how to talk my way out of any mess they created. I learned that I could make our customers pity little ol' me and then they'd pay us extra. My family often said that I had a silver tongue; it was helpful in those rough times as a kid. My reputation went from "poor, miserable kid" to "silver-tongued liar, not to be trusted". When that reputation got around.. our business ceased to exist. I made the decision to leave my family for their own safety, and so that they could start up their business again.

I moved to a new land, in another country, where my old reputation wouldn't follow me. I was able to reboot my life. I searched for jobs, and most sounded dreadful; office work, watching flitlings, teaching... none of it fancied me. I was sure I was out of luck, but then I met another flit. He was almost too innocent, he was fragile; and he was looking for someone to protect him. Of course, I obliged. It sounded like a fun job, I could deck anyone if they touched a single hair on his head. He never told me why he wanted a body guard. However, something odd did begin to form within myself. I wasn't harsh in any way towards him-- it was like I went soft, and I can only imagine why... did I like him? Maybe... maybe I do like him.

My reputation went from "poor, miserable kid" to "silver-tongued liar, not to be trusted" to "the guardian".
