Kymberlin Yukon Drafts #014

Jaques Kymberlin - 1836 wrote: On my journey deep within the timbered land of the untamed Yukon, I have found a breed of amazing horses that I do believe descended from either original pioneer lines or even further back to the notorious Vikings that were fabled to roam these lands. In any case, I have been studying these magnificent creatures and have found they are a rather curious and friendly breed, much like the Scottish Clydesdale. Large in nature, they typically can be found between 16hh and 18hh at the tallest. Their stance and very well muscled bodies make it very easy for pulling large amounts of weight all while never breaking a sweat. Very gentle and intelligent, the ones that I have become well acquainted with have shown a substantial ability to learn and comprehend commands. Their gait is the smoothest I have felt in my many years, with a stance that one could compare with dancing when seen running through open fields seldom provided in this harsh and dense terrain. I have seen very little evidence of the appaloosa genetics amongst this breed, though I do believe there are a few in its rarest state, so I will keep note of any I see. I shall tame one of these creatures -or a few- and take them home for myself, as these giants are the most fascinating beasts I have stumbled upon

To whom it may concern:
I will be extremely busy for the next few months due to trapping season being in full swing, receiving large hides that I need to tan, and having to run a farm. I do apologize for the lateness of any posts/art and I hope you do understand <3

How did he get his scar?:
Icarus follows his name very well. If you do not know the story of Icarus it is about a boy who had been stuck inside with his father being help captive. They were able to escape by the use of wings made of paper and wax. Unfortunately when the pair left their confinement, the son flew to high and went to close to the sun. The wax that made up the wings melted and caused him to fall. This tale is what gave Icarus his name. Icarus has always been one to take chances and do reckless things. One of these things is what scarred him for life.

When Icarus was a young colt he tended to get into situations that he never planned though his heard always though that he was doing intentionally. Him and some of his other foal friends decided that it would be fun to run into the wood near their herds favorite field and see what was in it. They were always told to never go into the forest as it was dangrous and held a creature that caused fear even in the great stallion of the herd. It is said that this creature was larg, with huge paws that held claws bigger than any other animal, it had large teeth that could grab hold of you and never let go and the worst part the adults would always tell the foals is that you never know that it is is there until it is to late. Icarus always thought this to be a sill tale that the adults would tell the foals to keep them from wondering off on their own. Icarus was determined to prove the adults wrong. So he decided to convince some of the other foals around his age to join him and off they went into the forest to prove that they could take care of themselves and prove that their was no monster in the woods.

Once in the woods the small group of young horses began to explore and play among the trees. All at once however the sounds of the forest disappeared and nothing but silence was left. The group froze in fear, maybe the monster did exist..... All at once a roar sounded from the depths of the shadows near them and a large figure just as the adults had described flew out. All the foals scattered except Icarus. He was rooted in one spot unable to move. How could he have been so wrong. The creature saw his hesitation and slowly made his way closer to him. The monster jumped and was almost on top of him when the head stallion appeared from the opposite direction and knocked the creature away. He reared up his legs and kicked the creature in the head sending it flying. The large stallion nudged Icarus into a run. After what felt like years the pair made it out of the forest. The heard gathered around them nervous to see if the young colt that was Icarus was okay.

Icarus looked at his heard but winced when he realized that the monster had gotten his face by just the end of his claw and he couldn't open his eye. After being looked at by the healer of the heard it was determined that Icarus would not lose his eye but would forever have a scar as a reminded for his foolish need to fly to high to prove himself.

How did he get his scar?: He was an old war horse and got his scar by a bullet barely scratching his face. He soon was taken out of the war as he was in the later part of it and he was returned to his family. He is the sweetest horse and will protect whom he loves.
