Prompt:
It was observing a family of mice than made Baron open up.
He was sitting on a window, distanced for all the family members, and observed as late in evening, a small family of mice crawled out of their hideout. Normally Baron would be after trying to catch them, but thick glass separated him from the prey this time, so he sat back observing. It was a momma mouse and her three kits. They scurried over to the edge of the yard, keeping close to the fence to not be seen, but although one eyed, Baron was still a keen cat and didnt loose them from sight. In the corner of the yard, near the flipped over flower pot where they felt safe, the mice stopped for a little family moment. Mother mouse gently groomed her kits, neating their fur and calming them down.
Observing this simple scene suddenly made Baron recall his own kittenhood, when his feral cat mom groomed him in their safe, comfortable den. He felt bitterly lonely and suddenly craving to re-live that feeling again, the company, the warmth, the love. He observed the mice, mesmerised by them and his own thoughts, untill they finally slipped in a crack under the flower pot into the street. After that, he stood up in silence and slowly walked over to the human that adopted him. A warm hand pat him on the head, and he, for the first time in many years, purred like a kitten.
I felt this form was rather unique and enjoyed the idea you had! Congrats!
