I'm really worn out from the past couple months, but now that I have some free time I decided to make a doll!
This one is special, it's shadow is the entire body of the doll except for the head. This was both just because I'm having a trend of body part shadows, but also I got really sleepy towards the halfway point.

I hope it's acceptable!

For this comp you must come up with a pair of names for the doll and shadow that have some kind of meaning, ex: Lewis and Clark. They can be rhyming, based off places- anything- just as long as you have some reasoning for the names you chose.

extras and prettying up are allowed (though I won't judge on how well you do it, I'm more interested in your writing).

Doll name: Iblis (“to despair”)

Shadow name: Azazel (“God’s strength”)

name reasoning(max 100 words): In Islamic lore, Azazel was a leader and teacher to other angels, but he was turned into a demon when he argued why God should create human beings who will shed blood like the earth’s previous inhabitants. He wanted to be superior than any other being, even angels. He was then cast down to earth, expelled from the presence of god. His name was changed to Iblis when he was turned into a demon.
I thought it would be cool for it to be like the Doll (Iblis) is Azazel’s (The shadow) new identity.

Shadows name: Portia

Brutus was cursed and retched soul. He consqouered all he could see and hear, even being his best friends death. His sins should destroy any love, his scarred heart rested with Portia. She loved him, but watching him each day pained her self. The night the moon had fallen from the sky, Portia’s disrught soul snapped, becoming shadow from her once living body. She held Brutus, cleansing the small bits of humanity he had. Brutus didnt feel pain, he felt childish warmth and innocence. Though Brutus is blind, Portia guides him, telling him of all the beautiful things she sees.

name reasoning. azohan holds the name meaning of being "a gift from god," while helminth is a parasite, meaning one who exploits or uses another. azohan was an unfinished doll, discarded for not coming out the right way. minth found them and took the place of their body, guarding themselves with the rest of the armor. after creating a bond, azohan agreed to let helminth control their body. the doll can "override" themselves and force minth to do or not do something.
their relationship. as much as helminth seems like a distasteful name, azohan is fond of the shadow. helminth was the name the shadow gave themselves. they have respect towards eachother although their opinions usually differ.

a series of stories...
meeting. helminth nursed azohan in their broken state, but the body was too unfinished to work. the doll was inanimate and lifeless until the shadow removed the head from the body but kept the armor and took form of azohan's wanted figure. the doll awoke immediately and sat up, astonished by being able to move after being in a paralyzed state. helminth, not used to being in a form, squirmed under the armor and tried to communicate since they were connected to the doll's head. the attempt succeeded and the two stood up and walked around, slowly, tripping every so often. the shadow alerted azohan of a nearby dollhouse which needed warriors to fight against another force. the shadow covered themselves with the full set of armor and once they had encountered the other dolls, azohan was immediately seen as a deity or one sent from the highest gods. helminth liked the attention while the doll didn't as much. they just wanted to help the cause of those who accepted them.
home. azohan was immediately accepted into the community and was given the finest dollhouse the dolls could build. helminth was happy to receive so much for doing nothing so far, and azohan wanted a way to repay the people. slowly, they both learned about the dollhouse and found out the village was constantly attacked by other dolls for their fine jewelry and armory. azohan vowed to protect the dolls from all due harm, with the help of the small, determined army. that night, helminth was overjoyed by their wealth and power. the shadow even tried to get azohan to leave before sunrise and take everything with them to sell it all and get even more rich than before. their persuasion failed and instead azohan began to donate his wealth back to circulate more, believing they needed it more.
the prophecy. azohan was told by one of the past leaders of a sight the prophets had years ago; the awakened soldier. the soldier would come from an eternal sleep and could either bring them protection or a tragedy, and it all depended on their shadow. yet, the dollhouse didn't know about helminth being a hidden shadow; they believed they were a blessed doll which didn't need a shadow. they wondered, filled with anxiety, what the shadow would be to cause a tragedy. azohan hadn't said a word of this, but they didn't need to. helminth took note of every thought and attempted to reassure them, yet to no avail. the next morning they had decided to tell the other dolls and find out which prophecy they would unfold.
war. the sun hadn't even rose when their door was pounded on desperately. they struggled to get the armor all on but soon headed to the door, met by dolls screaming and scrambling to evacuate. a doll had created an alliance with an army. they attacked after hearing about the new soldier; they didn't want a disadvantage against a trained knight. they attacked mercilessly until facing azohan, a taller doll with armor never seen before. soldier after soldier, each went down easily after helminth used their own weapons against them. azohan refused to inanimate a doll, so they had only sent them to sleep by having helminth engulf the spear. whoever they would touch, the shadow would take over their system and force them to sleep in a split second. the army was easily taken down with the doll helping the village's small army. though, the doll that had allied with the army was enraged. they had a similar stature to azohan and thicker armor with a shield, unable to be penetrated. the enemy broke most of azohan's armor besides their chestplate, and as the sun rose the village witnessed the fight. the foe's armor made it hard for them to use, and helminth used this to their advantage by slipping behind them and slipping through the cracks between their armor. the heavy clank of metal was followed by silence of the other dolls.
discovery. azohan looked around them, slowly, at the villagers. helminth was unconfined to the armor, and took their true, loose, form. the past leader approached azohan cautiously."you broke the prophecy." he spoke with a shaky voice, as if he didn't believe his own words. "the doll with the body of their shadow was supposed to bring misfortune. you've brought us success. the doll with no shadow was supposed to bring victory." azohan, perplexed, exchanged thoughts with helminth for a second before saying anything. "being here has been a pleasure, but we must go. there are more to be helped and much more than wealth or luxury." they stated solemnly, hoping the village would be okay on its own. the leader understood, stating, "i'll be sure to create more allies.. but if you must go, take these, for they will exhibit our gratitude to you and will bring you to your destination. no matter the circumstances." he removed a golden medal along with a golden necklace. azohan kneeled so they could be bestowed upon him. no other words were shared besides a final thank you and goodbye.
life after. azohan and helminth live as protector to any place in need, using their gifts to help them on their path. helminth usually gets led astray by more wealth, but always finds their way back after being reminded of their purpose. they refuse any further gifts besides food, armor refinement, and a temporary place to stay.

Lernaean is named after the region the Hydra lived before Hercules came and killed it. Lernaean can regenerate the doll body and reattach if cut in half but requires huge amounts of energy. The shadow “leaks” through his army to be able to see surroundings and help the doll see.

Ioluas is named after the cousin who helped Hercules kill the Hydra. Iolaus was nearly decapited in a murder attempt;Lernaean saw this as a opportunity to bond and take over another host. Over time they gained a mutual respect for another.

Shadow name: Mammon

Zadkiel is the proud angel of forgiveness, always looking for the best for people. He is a very forgiving soul. Mammon on the other hand has always had an insatiable greed it could never seem to curve. Every doll never seemed to be enough. It was only when he came across a proud angel doll, his armor is what started that burn in Mammon. In its deal, Mammon offered life for Zadkiel's body. Zadkiel was hesitant but felt a draw to accept, he wouldnt be alone anymore and neither would Mammon
