Every year, Alexandra made a huge fuss about Halloween. She loved it, and all of the Raj knew. So did Rikash, even though he never understood why. Well, he did understand this one small part. Pumpkin carving. Not because of those fancy faces and the light. Why would any horse care for this?
More because of all the pumpkin that was carved out. Leftovers. Normally Alexandra would make soup, but as she decided to decorate the whole stables with Jack-o-Lanterns, there was to much pumpkin left to even make soup for the whole staff. Rikash knew exactly what this meant. Alex would give it away as treats for her Raj.
He never had the feeling he might starve, if he wouldnt get food, like Rocky, but who can resist some treats? Well, besides the always wary Bazhir or the always serious Falco.
So when Alexandra entered the stables with her pumpkins, sat down on the floor and started carving, he was right there, his neck stretched out of his stall, trying to reach a piece.
And to be perfectly honest, those face look really cool. Especially when the candles are on. He probably wont admit, but Rikash kind of likes Halloween too.

This year everyone at Shadow Moon Ranch was getting festive for Halloween, which meant fun decorations, music, celebrations and sweets filled the month of October. In previous years Halloween had been celebrated, but not to this extent. Honeybear was both curious and excited to be a part of it all.

It was mid-afternoon when she saw Adam and Richard bringing pumpkins over to her stable. She had been grazing nearby, but soon shifted her attention to them. There were carved pumpkins all around, and now she guessed it was her turn to have some. Curious, she approached the two of them and knickered softly. Adam reached up to give her a pat on the neck, while Richard offered a sugar cube in his palm.

"Here, girl," Richard said as she accepted the sweet treat. "Are you going to help out?"

Honeybear leaned down to nose at one of the larger pumpkins. All the horses at the ranch were getting their own pumpkin, and there was something about that one that appealed to her. She wanted a pretty carving for her stable too.

"This one?" Adam asked as he rubbed her velvety nose. "All right."

"It needs to be pretty," Richard stated. "A pretty pumpkin for a pretty lady."

Adam was more the artistic type, so he thought for a moment. Then he had the perfect idea. Honeybear watched as he began to carve. She gave his shoulder an occasional nudge, and shifted on her feet with excitement. Richard offered her another treat, and this one smelled like pumpkin. It was soft and sweet with a mild spice. Absolutely delicious! Honeybear nudged him, hoping for another. He just smiled and gestured to Adam.

"Maybe later. Look what he's making you."

The carving was beginning to take shape, and soon she realized it was a carving of her! She pranced around them, giddy with delight, though she made sure to avoid the other pumpkins around them.

"What do you think?" Adam asked, finishing the form of Honeybear and beginning to work on a moon and stars.

She whinnied in response, thinking this was the best carving for her. Adam was always so intuitive. It was like he just knew exactly what she'd like.

When it was finished, the carving showed her rearing up with a crescent moon and stars in the background. Honeybear nudged Adam's shoulder, then nosed the carved pumpkin gently to show her approval.

He chuckled as he stroked along her neck, straightening her mane as he did.

"I'm glad you like it."

Richard offered another pumpkin treat, which she happily accepted. Then she followed them as they went to place it. She wanted to see the other carvings, but first she had to make sure they found the perfect place for hers. [463 words]

It was always around this time of year that the weird orange ball shaped objects started appearing around the yard. Zero found it very odd that they all seemed to be cut into aswell. When he was younger he even tried to taste whatever it was and remembered that it was quite foul for him. He wondered if it was the same now, he approached one with caution incase something jumped out of it and sniffed it slowly. He nudged it with his muzzle and the whole thing wobbled and the top fell off. Zero pulled his head back and nickered in surprise but quickly investigated the whole. He sniffed it again and was pleasantly surprised to find that it didnt smell so bad like he had remembered. He stook his nose inside and took a bite of the fleshy inside, it was delicious!

"Zero, what are you doing?" His trainer Dorothy asked, her hands on her hips as she watched the stallion jump and lift his head up with the pumpkin still stuck on his muzzle. The woman chuckled and shook her head "Dont eat the pumpkins! They're for our halloween party" she giggled and sighed "What are we going to do with you." Zero just stood there looking at her with a guilty look on his face. He tried to get shake the pumpkin off but it was firmly stuck around his nose, in the end he slowly walked over to Dorothy and nickered with pleading eyes. After taking a photo of him she helped remove it "Now, dont do it again, okay?" she smiled and gave him a kiss before setting the pumpkin back where it belonged and put the top back on.

Day eight is now over, day ten has begun!
I’ve been super busy this year, so I skipped day nine to give myself a break.

The daily prompt has been updated already.
I will try to get the ticket holdings up today, but I can make not promises for this due to responsibilities outside of CS. Don’t worry, it’ll be up by this weekend at the latest (and with a surprise for everyone currently on the list.) so there will be plenty of time to purchase items as well as more Raj coming for the event. <3
