- Ideal significant other(If aromantic/asexual, please skip this and do the below prompt!): Leon had always been fonder of boys; there was just something about them that he found more attractive. But he never realized he might be gay, until one day he was met with the sudden realization that he couldn't see himself ever having a girlfriend, or a wife, or anyone along those lines. The idea of having a husband, on the contrary, gave him a warm feeling on the inside. It was the idea of having to fall in love first that scared him.
It was by chance that he met his best friend at a pride festival. He'd gotten lost in the crowd, bustling around him noisily, when he stumbled and fell; right into a stranger's arms. It wasn't love at first sight, Leon didn't believe in any of that. But the shared laugh, the shared moment, that was when the friendship started. They clicked instantly, like it was destined for Leon to fall into someone else's life, and for both of their lives to become intertwined.
Leon watched boyfriend's come and go for his best friend. He would blush with him over cute first dates, or become sympathetic if they didn't go well. There were times when he would stay up all night with him, comforting him and helping to mend a broken heart. Yet for Leon, these relationships never seemed to come his way. Yes, he would think a few people were attractive, or maybe get asked for his phone number every so often, but no one really seemed to catch his eye.
This didn't worry him. He had a loving, loyal friend; and that's all that mattered.
It was a dream that made him begin to question things.
A dream in which they were together.
And suddenly he began to notice many new things he liked about this boy. The way his eyes crinkled when he laughed. The way he fell asleep on the couch watching movies, and ended up snoring. The way he would fuss over people's dogs, and try and find the best in situations, and always had a positive thing to say about others. And, of course, his love for ladybugs. 'They remind me of you!' he said. And that sent Leon's heart aflutter.
A long time ago, he had realized he was gay.
And it took many years of wondering, and waiting for the right guy, that he realized something else; he'd already found the right guy.
He had fallen in love with his best friend.
