What do they hoard? pearls (and other gemstones) and flat stones ^w^
Why? he likes shiny things, like the gems on his body and I would picture this boy to live near a waterfall and make fishy friends because of the gills. He also likes flat stones because they're fun to throw on a lake to see how far they'll bounce on the surface, he would probably have a favorite stone that always go super far that he'd carry around with him everywhere :3

(edit: also I am myself guilty of hoarding flat stones when I go on vacation XD)

What do they hoard?: he hoards things like really smooth rocks, and sparkly things, which usually don’t have much value.
Why?: when he was young, his mother gave him a nice sparkly smooth rock, before going out to get food for him, but she never returned after that, he later found out she had died, and hoards smooth and sparkly stones to cope with her death.

Why? you ask in alarm taking a step back, her body remains still as stone. but her head turns towards you, a cruel smile slowly forms, she barks a cold laugh "That my dear, is because" she paused "because i can!" she says cackling. she suddenly stops looking at you seriously, she gracefully gets up and walks over to you, she then spits out a small blue flame which hits the ground behind you. a wall of fire suddenly bursts up trapping you in the room with her. she fluidly walks in circles around you, her pupils slitting the growing larger again and again. she sank lower and lower to the ground as she continued circling you, until she looked like a cat stalking its prey, ready to pounce. What do they hoard? This Kiuii seems to hoard clouds!!
Why?
She likes to hoard clouds because she controls the weather. She also like to travel to different dimensions and grab some of the clouds from there. She put the clouds into a glass jar with writing on the cap so the clouds don't try to get out. Once, by accident, she left one of the jars half open with a red cloud from the Kiomba and it escaped and wrecked her whole den. She finally caught it and put it back in it's place. So far she has 28 clouds in her collection.

gawain is not like most hoarding beasts. he does not hoard valuable items. no. he
hoards trash. old newspaper, rotting apple cores, nasty cardboard boxes covering in
cooking grease, if it goes in the trashcan, he wants it. he gained this idea of trash
being a hoard necessity from watching humans collect unwantable in big piles instead
of just torching it - he doesn't understand that not everyone can control fire from their
mouths. so now he basically lives in a dumpster, like oscar the grouch.
