Short Story:
Hashi stared at the vastness of space as he floated in the closed, spacious capsule the rocket had jettisoned a few days prior. He looked out at the wonderful array of stars sparkling back to him, and smiled as he saw the Sun in the distance, the glowing ball of fire looking magnificent against the darkened background of space. He knew he was on his way to attach to the Viscet Space Station (VSS) that floated just above the Earth, and he couldn't wait to start his mission. He'd arrive at the VSS in a few hours, most of journey already finished. He enjoyed most the aspect of zero-g - being able to float without gravity was almost like swimming, but better due to no water pressure against his sensitive fur. He slipped on his pair of earbuds and listened to calming music as he floated along, wondering at the new, amazing world in store for him.
A few weeks later he was on-board the VSS and ready to work at whatever job he needed to. The handy-man of the group of new recruits, he was ready and willing to do whatever it took to keep the space station operational. He fixed metal piping, repaired damaged suits, and also repaired food storage containers. He wasn't a mechanic, so he couldn't do many of the more extensive jobs, but he did what he could, and was merely happy to get to experience space at all. Hash had gone to school for so many years training for the day he could blast off into space, and he found himself even happier in the vast, open void than he'd previously thought he'd be.
He took a break at the end of the 9-hour cycle to rest and eat something. He opened up two packages and ate what was in them: freeze-dried strawberries and dried bananas. The fruit was sweet and he smiled as he chewed slowly, savoring the few bites he knew he was allotted. The VSS had to be very careful with how much food each viscet ate, as they had to have enough to go around without needing to call for supplies or backup too early on in their mission. Hashi then took a moment and plugged in his earbuds again, listening to some relaxing Classical music as he pondered and wondered what to do with his free time next. Pulling out a picture of his fiance he'd left back home on earth, he found himself missing her.
Yara would have loved to have partaken in this experience, what with her love of twinkling lights, which the stars looked just akin to. Hashi decided he'd send her an e-mail and try to give her a call. The VSS's technology was impressive and allowed for general communications efforts to be made. He floated over to the phone system, punched in her number, and looked at her picture as the phone rang. She picked up, a groggy voice muttering, "Hello?"
"Hey, sweetheart," he murmured. "I'm sorry - you sound tired. Did I wake you?"
"Well, it's four o'clock in the morning. What do you think?"
He chuckled. "Sorry, dear. I just miss you."
"When are you coming home? The wedding is in four months."
Hashi sighed. "I'm estimating a few months bare minimum. We... we might have to reschedule the wedding."
"I don't mind waiting, dearest... I'm just glad I didn't send out the invitations, yet."
He laughed. Glancing up at the time rate blinker flashing red, he cringed. "I'm sorry, dear, but I have to go. Someone else wants to use the phone, now, and I should let them do so."
"Look at you, always being so courteous. I love you." She yawned. "I'm going back to bed, now."
"Goodnight, dear. I love you, too." Hashi smiled, blew a kiss into the receiver, and hung up the phone.
Just a few more months, he thought.
Just a few more months and then I can return back to you.Personality:
Hashi is gregarious and sociable. He never shies away from conversation, and is definitely more extroverted than he is introverted. Curious, Hashi often can be found tinkering with something as he tries to understand how it works. Very hands-on, he is more kinesthetic than the average viscet, and would rather do something a million times and fail until he succeeds than to sit down and listen to someone instruct him on how to do something.
Usually one to stay in-the-moment, he doesn't generally get carried away by thoughts or ideas... though there are some more interesting ones that strike his fancy that do distract him from time to time, usually those pertaining to his fiance, Yara.
A generally loving and kind viscet, Hashi does his best to treat others like he'd want to be treated. He goes out of his way to help others, always wanting to lend a helping paw to those in need. He believes highly in the idea that just because his upbringing was horrible does not mean that he needs to be horrible to others. Hashi suffered a vast array of abuse in his younger years, and he became cold and callous for a large portion of his life. Meeting Yara changed him for the better, as it showed him that not every viscet out there was someone who would hurt him. She gave him hope that he could trust other viscets not to stab him in the back, and she directly inspired him to chase after his dreams, even if he'd been told countless times that what he wanted to accomplish would never happen.
Due to situations out of his control, his upbringing was extremely taxing and tiresome. As an adult, Hashi has come to understand that freaking out in situations just makes everything worse, and thusly he can handle himself quite well under pressure or stress. Only ever feeling superior to others when he is in his field of work, Hashi often is kind to those whom others have been cruel to. He doesn't have many friends, even though he's more extroverted than introverted, just due to the past abuse he's dealt with and his distrust of others that he's slowly getting over. Hashi never feels as if he needs to justify himself to other people, as he's pretty sure of himself when he's in his element at his work. In other areas of life, he'll sometimes feel a twinge of a need to justify himself, but usually Yara can calm him down enough to where he doesn't feel the need to do that any longer.
A natural
ENFJ-A personality type, Hashi is a rather tolerant and understanding individual. He is very reliable, and no matter what he does, you can count on him to finish what he started and get the job done right the first time around. Altruistic, Hashi only wants to better the individuals he comes across, and only wants to positively impact their lives for the better. He never wants to be viewed as a negative individual, and really does care about how he affects others. He doesn't think of himself as a natural leader, but if someone comes to him asking him for help, he won't hesitate to jump into the fray to help them out of a sticky situation. However, Hashi can be thought of as over-sensitive and too empathetic. He often gives more than he takes, and he sometimes has great trouble making tough decisions. Overall, Hashi is happy with his line of work and his life as a whole. He has accepted himself, flaws and all, and is happy for the chance every day to be a better viscet than those who mistreated him, and to spread kindness wherever he may go.
