Lillith was rescued from a hoarder situation, and it was discovered that in that situation, Lillith had gone through pregnancy and a stillbirth, which made her seem very depressed and become a danger to herself. She wouldn't eat, she wouldn't drink, and she wouldn't do anything more than sleep and hit herself against her stable for a long while. Rescuers were desperate to keep Lillith alive, even when she got injury after injury, and started becoming skinnier and weaker due to her refusal to eat. Some of the rehabilitation workers got severely injured while trying to force her to eat so that she wouldn't die, as she would kick her hooves and cause serious damage to those around her.
The solution came in the winter, just when the rehabilitation crew were ready to call Lillith a lost cause. This help came from a very small filly who had been rescued from being trapped in the ground during a snowstorm. The filly seemed to be following Lillith and tried to get into Lillith's stable every so often. Lillith wouldn't injure the filly, and sometimes would even be found doing things she used to be forced to do while the filly was around. The rescue crew was ecstatic when they first discovered this, and made it so that Lillith was able to care for the babies that were brought in that didn't have a mother. This contact with children that she was supposed to have but never did lead her to recovering on her own accord, not for herself, but so that she could care for these fillies that didn't have a mother.
From one filly to two fillies to seven fillies, Lillith was always the one who was brought out when a filly needed a mother figure to survive. She not only had saved herself from death, but she had also started saving weak fillies from death as well. Lillith never seemed to be upset when these fillies would grow up and go on to their forever homes, she always seemed the understand, and know that soon enough, there would be more fillies that would see her as their mother.
However, the situation became dire for the rehabilitation facility for the fairytales. They were losing money, and they were starting to barely have enough to keep some of the others alive. Lillith was one of the most energetic horses once she had regained her health, and one of the handlers had an idea. If Lillith entered into a competition, there was a chance they could win money, and help get the facility back on track to saving more fairytales. Though skeptical, it was agreed that they could try.
When thinking of a showname, it didn't take long for a name to come to everyone's heads. She had been the one who had survived through her own depression by saving foals and becoming the mother the rescue needed for their fillies. So, her showname became 'Rescue Mother', and the rest is history.
