"Dear Journal,
Today was crazy, I mean I never would have thought when I moved to a new town that I would be roped into taming a wild Royal Kalt Pony. I mean. I just moved in to my house and I am barely unpacked! There are boxes all over my house right now but instead of unpacking I am just getting home from meeting a wild pony!! It was such an unreal experience, and the pony that I have drawn is strangly friendly...Let me explain:
I drove to the sanctuary alone (haha I have no friends), and arrived 10 minutes before my appointment. In those 10 minutes I explored the grounds and the buildings were so well kept and the wild-ys in the near paddocks looks so shiny and healthy. These ponies seemed pretty friendly, and a couple of them even walked up to me for a small scratch. The barn manager, Caleb walked out to meet me and we shook hands with some small talk; he asked a lot about my experiences with horses and seemed quite impressed. We walked out to a large pasture and Caleb said that it may take awhile to find the herd, since the area was quiet a few acres. After walking and chatting for awhile, we spotted three ponies though he assured me that their beautiful coats were not the ponies that I had drawn. I, of course, was a little disappointed; there was a gorgeous blue roan, a bright wild bay appaloosa, and a blue taffy tobiano. Though they took one look at us and trotted into a thicket, so I changed my mind about being disappointed.
We walked for quite a few minutes, and the trees opened up to a large meadow. The meadow was filled with wild ponies of all colors, most of them were on the other side of the field but a couple were closer. As we kept walking there was one pony who perked its head up and seemed to watch us. Caleb was talking about how he got into Royal Kalt Ponies, and we heard a nicker behind us. I turned around to a chocolate palomino mare with a large blaze and a shaggy mane; her pretty purple eyes were bright and curious. Caleb turned and let out a small chuckle, I gave him a puzzled look and he said,
"This mare is the pony you drew."
I laughed quietly and shook my head in amazement...I couldn't believe that she was my pony and she was so friendly! We didn't spend too long in the pasture since I didn't want to push my luck, but man it was an incredible experience. I really can't wait until I get to see her again!
I've got to go do chores, so I'll catch up with you later!

"Dear Journal,
I brought home my pony today, and things seem to be going from bad to worse. When I first saw her it was the most amazing experience, she was so friendly! But when I went to pick her up at the sanctuary she was the wildest pony in the paddock; she was practically throwing herself against the fences. It was almost impossible to get her in my tiny trailer, and it took four of us to finally get her loaded. She rocked and kicked at the sides of the trailer on the ride home and she bolted into the barn when I opened the door. I barely got the stall closed before she whipped around trying to get out.
I'm going to have to spend a lot of time with her before I even attempt the halter. And the worst part of it all is that after about half of an hour of stall time, the mare seemed almost to give up. She stopped kicking at the stall and simply put her head down... It was heart breaking... I'm going to have to put her out tomorrow, but I'm scared she's going to run as far as she can and not come back... Though maybe tomorrow will be better!

"Dear Journal,
So it's been a couple days sense I last wrote. I've been trying tooth and nail to get my pony to feel happier; she just wasn't resembling the curious mare that I saw on our first encounter. After days of no luck, I finally had a break through! Today was such a bright day and I woke up with a good feeling, and my intuition was right! I decided to let my mare out in the round pen to stretch out and let off some steam, she was pretty fresh. I stood in the middle as she went from panel to panel, looking for an escape route. Eventually she figured out she couldn't get out and set off galloping in laps, apparently she likes to throw tantrums when she can't get her way.
Though, after a few laps I could tell that she was watching me. She started to slow to a trot and soon a walk. When she finally stopped she gazed over the fence for a couple minutes, though one of her ears was pointed towards me. I closed my eyes for awhile, and I finally heard hoof beats coming closer. She nuzzled my back, pushing me forward; my motions spooked her a bit but she didn't go far. Slowly the mare come in front of me, and I opened my eyes as I felt her breath on my face. She look more curious than even the day I met her, and I smiled. I slowly put my hand inside my jacket, and brought out an apple. Her ears perked at the red fruit and after giving it a good sniff, she decided it was okay to eat. The mare started to munch on the apple and I extended my other hand to pet her nose.
It was such a good day, and I'm so glad we are back on track!
