after convincing herself it's all in her head, she gets fed up and angry at herself, saying she cant run forever, even if she's been too afraid to face herself. she goes back to face her 'demons', only to find that the threat was very, very real, and manages to outsmart the beast to escape.

DawnTuft looked over her shoulder. She laughed nervously, or was it insanely? But it was still following her. She spat at it leaping back. DawnTuft found herself racing through the forest in terror. Was it gaining on her? The pitch black shadow, as cold as ice, loomed behind her. She felt a chill pass though her--was it her imagination? was the temperature dropping?--as it calmly and cleverly followed her. She yowled in pure fear as the sky turned dark. Wait! She was underground! She saw the ice cold light glint off of its eyes. She screamed again! Why were its eyes so horrible!?! She closed her eyes as tightly as she could, bolting through small tunnels.

DawnTuft was racing blindly away from it. But soon she was lost, now she was frantically trying to escape the neverending, dark tunnels. But she couldn't retrace her steps because of the horrible monstrosity behind her. She soon slammed into a wall and felt a searing pain in her ear. "Well that's gonna scar," she thought hysterically. It was now closing in on her. She breathed shallow, panicked breaths. She closed her eyes and leapt over it, racing back the way she had come.

She soon broke free, into daylight. One of her clanmates watched in confusion as she dashed past. They saw the thing behind her and sighed in disappointment. They inhaled, ready to call out, but DawnTuft was long gone. She darted through the undergrowth, hardly noticing the thorns scrape her pelt. She glanced over her shoulder, eyes wild with terror, as it followed her with ease. Her longer legs should have allowed her to escape, but it was so smart it was able to keep up.

Dawn sighed in relief as she saw the camp up ahead. But the creature was almost upon her! She knew she couldn't lead it to the camp and, instead, leapt into a pile of brambles. It still somehow followed her as she thrashed about scarring her back. Eventually, she clawed free and dashed back towards the camp.

It wasn't still following her, was it? She looked back, it was gone and she nearly fainted in relief. As she walked into camp SweetWater looked at her in annoyance. “Didn’t I send you on patrol with RushDust?” she asked. Dawn knew all too well that Rush was probably out there looking for her right now. And could tell that Sweet was thinking the same thing. She dipped her head to the tall deputy, “There was a spider-” she started but was cut off by SneezeHawk, who ran over to her “Are you okay!?!” he screeched. Dawn nodded, “There was a spider, and you know me, scared to death of the creepy things!” She made a face and went off to the medicine den for her scratches

{ "who's following me?..." }
"If you have friends, you gotta know which ones to keep and which to leave.
Well, for me, you better hope you're far away from them once the both of you are apart...

Back before I joined the clan, I was a loner who befriended another loner in the woods.
What are the odds of meeting another cat! I meet this pretty white she-cat with green eyes and a large
black mark over her left eye who's name was simply Leaf. Me and Leaf went waaay back.
Anyways, we made a pact together {more like she did!} to never give up or lose

crossed my mind. After that, we kinda became distant between each other...

Fast forward to some months later, I'm much older and mature than the younger me. I
work hard to support my clan and I'll do anything to keep it's borders and camp safe. I
was out one night hunting during leaf-bare to get a bit of food back to camp. I had went
a separate way from the hunting party. I had caught the sweet but faint and deathly
smell of dead deer. It's very rare to catch deer but during this time, it was easy to find
their bodies littered in the snow when the harsh wind comes. I sniffed out the carcass of a fawn
and proceed to check if it was still edible. I went to search for the hunting party to
notify them of my find when I suddenly heard a loud crunch in the snow. The whole world
seemed to go silent after that noise. I readied myself for a decent fight when suddenly
the assailant emerged from the dark trees. I instantly noticed the striking green eyes
and the large black mark over their left eye...

My heart jumped with sudden memory and regret. She glared at me from the top of a tree
stump, her tail twitching angrily. I was completely at lost on what to do but before I could
react, teeth and claws lunged down at me...

She was mad that I left her. That I forgot our pact and that we could have been perfect mates.
She was much angry than a bear. I tried to explain but she wasn't have any of it. She wanted to
kill me for it. She wasn't going to stop until she got her revenge on me. She wanted my head on

{ the scars }
Leaf-bare is always the worst. Very little food to go around and sickness came with
it. FinchSong went out for hunting, hoping to feed some of his clan. The
air was harsh and he felt numb as he marched out into the snow. In these
parts, snow can reach as tall as a cat and so, you have to be prepared for the troubles.

FinchSong tugged through the stomach-high snow that filled up the ridge near the clan. He was
so lucky to be accustomed to this cold, most cats would have been goners. He stood in the middle
of the ridge, whiskers twitching and tasting air. Nothing but frost and cold filled his throat.

He sniffed around the fresh snow, the very faint smell of distant prey filling his nose. He walked and pawed around. FinchSong was close to giving up until he noticed an odd, dark shape by the far edge of the ridge. With a little hope in his heart, he bounded through the snow towards the shape. It was the still slightly soft carcass of a fawn that probably died of the cold. He inspected it to make sure it wasn't sick. Finding a good place to grip, FinchSong proceeded to drag it along with him.

There was suddenly a sharp snap of a twig. The air went still and FinchSong tensed. Who was there? He looked up cautiously until he made eye contact with something in the dark line of trees. The shape started moving towards him and before he could hiss, the shape took form of a cat. FinchSong's blood ran cold and his heart started beating harder than ever.

He recognized the black mark on the eye and the piercing green eyes that seemed fiery. The cat was lanky and starving, the bones visible under thin fur and skin. It was Leaf, a cat from FinchSong's past. The skinny creature glared angrily at him with the rage of a bear from the top of the dip. He was at a lost on what to do, he had thought she was long gone. Before he could say a word, Leaf flicked her tail as a signal to shush. She didn't want to hear him out.

"You left me. We promised to stay with each other through thick and thin. BUT LOOK! You have the nerve to be full with food while I'm left out to STARVE!", Leaf hissed loudly as she started to stalk over to FinchSong.

" You PROMISED to stay with me! The LEAST you could have done was to check up on me!", the furious she-cat roared as she landed a swipe at his back, the wound was enough to snap him back to reality.

"I didn't know if you were still in the forest!", FinchSong roared back as he lunged at Leaf.

The she-cat fought furiously but FinchSong tired her out quickly. Thinking of all the possible negative outcomes, he released her and Leaf scurried to her paws. FinchSong gave her a warning if she ever stepped foot back into clan territory. With a spat, Leaf ran back into the forest angry and FinchSong returned to carrying back the fawn to his new home.

Cat's Name:
Honeywillow

Cat's Gender:
She-cat

Rank:

Clan Thread:
Thistleclan

╚════════════════════════════╝
What's following them?
It was easy to tell that HoneyWillow had a past, and it was that past that she was running from and that past that seemed to stay in hot pursuit of the tabby she-cat. HoneyWillow had been apart of a secluded group of blood-hungry rogues that had made it a regular event to have their prisoners fight to the death, the winning feline earning a low rank and no-longer having to starve with little food or water. The brawls were sickening, the cats were too thin to have any sort of muscle on their bones and their rib cages jutted out when they breathed. But their hollowed in eyes remained determined as they squared off one another in an attempt to regain some sort of hierarchy. At first, it was second nature to watch the fights for Honey, she had grown used to the bloodshed almost cheered when her favored opponent clung to life when the other's eyes went dark. That was how she had grown her friend group, secretly training her friends that were prisoners and sneaking them extra rations to build up their strength before the arena. Now that she looks back at that of course, she was technically doing the right thing--just not necessarily the best thing. She could have been able to give these other cat's freedom by sneaking them out, but instead, she trained them in their bondage to get stronger to stay in the group together. After so long she couldn't take it anymore. Too many of her friends had died, even with her well-taught lessons. She had, after all, put her all into it, being one of the best warriors she was in charge of catching prisoners for the 'games'. Most of the time when there weren't any other cats on that patrol except for her friends that had made it out of slavery, she would let the cats leave, if they were hostile of course she would bring them in--but not without exchanging a few words and attempting to convince the other feline to run while they still could. "Go. Please, you have no idea what I'm letting you out of." The cinnamon tabby whispered, a begging tone in her voice as she looked back toward Jet. The black tom stood at her side, the same look in his eyes as they stared at the blue point standing reluctantly a few tail-lengths away. Clearly their expressions helped convince the other feline to turn tail. Not more than a few seconds later did the scent of one of the leading cats fill Honey's nostrils and she felt her ears flatten and the fur along her spine rise. No no no! I made sure we weren't being watched! "Well well well." The raspy mew of a large tabby stepped forward, their scarred muzzle curled up in a devilish grin as they flicked their fluffy tail over Jet's face. "This is going to be interesting." They continued, staring at Honey with hunger in their gaze. [500/500].
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Image
How'd they get their scars?
A hard bite lifted the cinnamon she-cat off the dusty ground, the jaws clamped around the scruff of her neck as she was hauled into the arena. Of course, they would make her fight, it'd be a good show after all. Her ear stung, the blood now dried but the injury not having been looked at since it first happened--a battle wound, the first to come and not the last of the scars that would lace across her pelt. She staggered to her paws, weakened by hunger as the next cat, her opponent, was hauled in. She clenched her teeth, watching as the blue point was brought in, their brown eyes almost glazed over as they were dropped into a heaping pile of fur on the ground. A groan emanated from their jaws as they pulled themselves to their feet, their fur matted, and their own ear red and bloody from the similar notch cut into it--labeling them a prisoner. "You know the rules, Honey. It can't be difficult to follow them. Last standing will become a cat of the group. Honey, you will regain your previous position." The battle was horrendous, Honey still quick on her paws as she darted around to keep away from the other cat, the blue point having gained several injuries. Finally, the cinnamon she-cat watched as her opponent fell to the ground in a heap. Immediately too guards stepped forward to check and see if the feline was breathing, and sure enough--they weren't. Honey flattened her ears as she was congratulated, her fur fluffing up. Of all her time spent in the group she had yet killed a cat, and now she had their death weighing down on her shoulders. Without much thought: she ran. Her limbs were slow to react as she wove around corners and over trash cans, her eyes wide as she cleared a metal pronged fence. The over whelming scents of cats filled her senses as she spun on her paws, watching as several felines followed. what was she thinking! She was breaking another rule by fleeing! The biggest rule! The tabby dropped her body to the ground, she couldn't clear the fence again, she didn't have the speed or momentum. Instead, she crawled forward, wiggling her haunches as she started under the fence, trying to keep her back away from the metal prongs mere centimeters above. A heavy weight landed on her tail, Honey let out a screech as her body instinctively lurched forward and her skin got gashed along the back where the prongs hit. None-the-less she started running, nearly out of the city, running toward the forest-the wild. Tears blurred her vision as she cleared a long, a numbing feeling coming from her injured back as she finally left the territory she never knew she had been a prisoner of.[472/500]

    Prompt:

A lone nightjar chirped cheerfully in a large oak by the riverside. The rustle of plump voles and mice nosing through the underbrush was the only thing keeping me focused. I was supposed to be fishing, but it was mighty close to sun-up and I was starting to doze off waiting for one to swim by. The fish were not cooperating with me today. Apparently the middle of the lake is a better spot than the river today. It was just a peaceful night though. I thought it would stay that way. I was mistaken. Very, very mistaken.

I didn't notice the great horned owl until it was almost too late. Never had I ever seen a bird attack a cat in my life. This one was a bloodthirsty menace. I tried everything. I bit it in the leg. I kicked it in the chest and gave it a hard swat to the head. I clawed more body parts than I could count. But this fiendish bird wouldn't let up for even a moment. Gripping one wing with my fangs, I raked it's belly with my claws. With a few beats of its enormous wings, it flew off. Though I waited for it to come back, it appeared as if it had gone away. At this point I was tired of waiting for the fish. I quickly caught four voles to make up for my misfortune. Satisfied with my catch, I headed back to camp.

      ----------

      "Help! Someone, anyone, help!"

I thought I'd seen the last of that blasted owl. Again, I was mistaken. But this time, it had found easier prey in a harmless kit. No way in Dark Forest land was I letting that kit be eaten, not on my watch or otherwise. There wasn't a second to waste. I scaled the cliff as quick as I possibly could. Every breath I took, the poor defenseless kitten was closer to becoming bird food. Even though I had made the climb quickly, the kit had already backed up so close to the ledge that it was helplessly dangling off the edge of the cliff. My presence attracted the owl ; my ear was the target. The crow-heart ripped the whole tip off it. Again we fought. I tried to cripple its wings. It went back and forth between trying to to knock me off the cliff and trying to lift me off the cliff. As the kit lost its grip on the cliff's edge, I sank my teeth into its scruff while the owl dove for my back.

      ----------

Next thing I know I'm in the long abandoned medicine cat's den, groggy from Starclan knows what with a throbbing left side. Campionstar had tried to remember what were good herbs and had done well ; I think it was chickweed and prunella over my wounds, arnica with cobwebs and catchweed over the broken ribs. Whatever it was worked just fine. Might've been overgenerous with the valerian though. I'd swear I felt those effects for a good moon after she stopped mixing it into the prey.

According to Owletfur, I'd fallen off the ledge with the kit. Thankfully, it was one of the ledges mid-way up to camp and I wasn't more injured than I was. I can't protect the clan's new life with broken legs or a broken back. Thank Starclan those weren't hurt in the fall. But I carry my owl-given scars with pride. It means I did my job well. And for that I am happy.

Cat's Name: Maxwell, Paleclaw
Cat's gender: tom
Clan Thread: Crescentclan

Prompt: [1000/1000]

If there was one thing, that the pale coloured tom disliked about walking through the mountains. It was the eerie silence, that always seemed to settle in, during the first few hours of the morning. Today was no different. Especially since the early morning fog wasn't helping. He could hardly see what was in front of him, and he had already been startled twice by an eagle's cry from above. However, what made things worse, was the unsettling feeling of someone or something watching him. He had felt it since he left his temporary resting place. No matter where he went, the feeling always seemed to follow. Like a stubborn cobweb, that refused to let go of his cinnamon coloured fur. Only this time, it felt as whoever or whatever it is, was right behind him. Causing the fur on the back of his neck to stand up.

Without a second thought, the pale coloured tom quickly spun around. Only to be met with nothing, but endless miles of fog. His ears automatically folded back against his head, as he gave a wary glance at his surroundings. Green eyes trying to pinpoint movement, as he slowly moved around in a circle. His nerves slowly starting to get the better of him, as he tried to keep himself calm. However, the invisible eyes never left him, staring him down as if they were a wolf stalking its prey. Just as the tom began to contemplate on whether or not he was going insane, the fog in front of him parted. Almost like an invisible curtain being lifted. But at that very moment, he wished it hadn't.

What stood before him in the distance, was something that made his entire body freeze. The large dark silhouette was both sleek and well muscled, screaming both power and elegance. Its body was similar to that of a feline's, except bigger and had slightly rounder ears. But what truly frightened him, were the amber eyes that seemed to stare into his soul. Like menacing flames, that refused to be put out. It was almost like he was in a trance, as his green eyes refused to look away from the amber ones. However, the longer he stared, the louder his brain screamed at him to run.

He only dared to listen, when the silhouette decided to take a step towards him. Causing him to slowly take a step back. Green eyes still focused on the mysterious creature before him. As the oddly looking feline drew closer, he could now see that its right eye was half closed. Suggesting that it was possibly half blind. The only thing that managed to snap him out of his awe, was the sound of a dried twig snapping beneath him. Glancing at the ground, he realised he must of accidentally stepped on it. However, upon glancing back upwards, the creature had once more been concealed within the fog. Maxwell, run, he thought. He didn't need to be told twice.

------------

By the time Maxwell had reached a nearby river, it had become midday. The fog that had once covered the rocky ground, like a thick blanket, having long since lifted. Allowing the pale coloured tom to gather his bearings and be on his way. Which is how he ended up next to a river. A fast flowing one at that. Green eyes carefully watched the raging surface, as their owner slowly lowered his head to lap at the crystal clear liquid. Claws digging in to the hard ground below, in order to avoid falling in. Considering that he had no desire to be thrown against the few rocks, that he could see sticking out of the water in the distance.

Green eyes glanced in the direction the river was taking. Contemplating on whether or not to follow it. Before glancing back in the direction he had come, as if they were expecting someone to ambush him at any second. Great, your being paranoid now, Maxwell, stop it, he thought. Ever since his encounter with the creature of the fog, Maxwell could not get those burning amber eyes out of his head. Even now, he expected that creature to jump him, to sink its teeth and claws into his fragile body. If that thing even had any teeth or claws.

Shaking his head, the cinnamon coloured pointed tabby decided to take his chances with the river. Deciding that it was better with the rapids, than to run into the 'fog beast' again. With that sorted, the pale coloured tom continued on his way. Following the river, in hopes of finding a way out of the mountains. Unaware of the tawny coloured creature, that watched him from above. A crooked smile slowly forming on its lips, as the predator silently stalked after him.

Due to being close to the raging river, Maxwell barely heard the sound of heavy paw steps behind him. Before he felt something heavy and sharp slash across his back, like four knives sinking into him. The strength of the blow, sending him tumbling to the ground next to the river. Releasing a small pained hiss, he then quickly forced himself back onto his paws. At least, he tried to. The pain in his back was unbearable, and only caused his legs to tremble as he tried to get up. His panic only rose, when he realised his back legs had gone into shock and were refusing to move.

" What's the matter, pale one? Can't run?", a cold voice asked. Causing Maxwell's blood to run cold. Glancing behind him, he was met with that same dreaded amber gaze. The mountain lion simply chuckled, as it lifted its blood stained paw." No matter, pain will be gone soon", it added. Upon noticing the paw coming towards him, the tom rolled to the right. Hissing in pain, when two claws still managed to catch his left ear. Before feeling his body slip over the edge, and into the raging river below......

There were many well done forms but I kept going back to this one, all of you did so well!! Congrats on the new cat my dude
