He’s never had a real family. Obviously he had parents once, but he never knew them. His mother died soon after he was born and his father was already deceased. He was an only child, so obviously never had any siblings.

He’s mostly a loner. He travels from place to place an if he makes friends there... he’ll move straight onward. He’s very awkward and suffers from social anxiety.

But as we’re talking about family, let’s think... well, he sees all the plants, birds, and animals of the world as his family! He studies nature and spends all his free time out in the wild. He loves all living things and will talk to both plants and animals - but is very quite around other Komos. He forages for food and is very careful never to pollute the environment.

kathrine burst from the bakery's wooden door way and ran. she looked back when the baker's voice boomed through the busy crowd that filled the streets.
"katherine!" he called out, his face red and swollen with rage. kathrine chuckled through the loaf of bread within her mouth and continued on. she took a sharp turn into a dark alley, and wove through the maze-like chain of buildings. this had been her life ever since she was small, and though she didn't enjoy stealing from others, it was necessary for her survival.
katherine never really had a family, her life was spent on the streets alone. she can just barely remember the faint whisper of her mothers voice and her beautiful golden eyes, but those were her only memories of her family. The clearest memory of her past is wondering through the pouring rain alone, screaming for her mother. katherine had eventually given up looking for her mother and instead started spending her energy looking for food and clean water. at first she picked through dumpsters and trash cans, but scraps were scarce, there were plenty of komos just like her without family and who were just as hungry. that's when she began to steal, but only from those who could afford it. katherine doesn't just steal for herself, she actually looks after a few younger orphan komos who need her help. she'll steal food, medicine, water, and many other things to provide as much she can for them.
however, she can't do much. because katherine's also an orphan, and too young to work, she doesn't have much money or resources, but this doesn't stop her from doing her best. she loves the children she protects and would do anything for them. even if she doesn't have an actual family, she has the children, and wouldn't trade them for the world.
