Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. All of our animals are special and deserve a chance to be happy with an owner that will care for them. The question is: are you ready to love them?

when they first came in, we could barely go near them. they are generally very anxious around people - we have no clue why! however, there is one thing that seems to bring them out of their cage a little. with their treasured chicken plushy at their side, they're a completely different dog!

despite their appearance, i can assure you this chicken is NOT chocolate and is not fit for consumption.

history: Growing up, Tweet spent his days working as a farm dog. Herding sheep was what he primarily did. He was a fairly quiet canine growing up, using sitting out on the grass after a long day. The farm owner was a stubborn old man who Tweet never exactly knew the name of, but Tweet nicknamed the old man Tie, after the worn out blue tie he would always wear. Tie and Tweet didn't share a significant bond, Tweet just did what he had to in order to eat that night.

Tweet didn't share the works of the farm with any other dog, that he knew of at least. Once and a while he would scent the distinctive smell of another canine, yet he had presumed that it was simply the neighbors' dogs running around the farm property. After all, he did see that happen once. Tweet didn't exactly had another dog to chat to or even play with, so he would wander around the farm in search for something to do.

Tweet would find twigs across the farm, dead leaves, bird seeds, leftover foods for the pigs, and the occasional loose sheep. Yet the place where he felt a feeling of comfort was none other than the chicken coop. The small, tiny chicken coop that housed a very small amount of noisy and loud chickens. One specific chicken, though, he found rather interesting.

The first few times Tweet stumbled into the coop, all of the chickens squawked in terror - besides one. And that one was a small, tiny and vulnerable chick who had happened to stumble out of sight of its mother. Confused and unsure what to do, Tweet cautiously nudged the chick over to the nearest chicken, which paid no attention to the poor chick. So Tweet did what he had to do. When nighttime struck, he took the chick to his bed.

The chick cheeped a lot. And it was loud, which had caught the attention of the old farmer. Tie had stumbled into the room where Tweet slept, and narrowed his eyes at the chick. The chick had something glint in their eyes: fear. A feeling that Tweet recognized immediately. Walking in front of the chick, he snarled at Tie. Tie backed up in surprise, but and odd gentle smile appeared on his face.

It took Tie a long while,
