their best find:
Venelope's "best find" isn't something golden, or trashy, or even something one can gain knowledge from. Rather, it's on old sheep dog she found in the slumps of down town. The dog itself was ratty and matted, full of dirt and was blind in one eye, it's left front leg was bald. Venelope, feeling bad for the old mutt, took him home and cared for him. Despite his obvious ailments, the dog was calm and didn't bark once; he was patient and let Venelope help him even if became increasingly uncomfortable.
The dog is now named Max, a generic dog name, as while he may just seem like any other mutt, he's got a huge heart and a clever mind. Venelope has studied the way Max goes around town when she walks him and how he waits patiently for someone to throw away their food before he goes and calmly eats it. While she kind of thinks that habit is gross, she really admires how he can just go around life without having to worry about starving or anything.
To Venelope, Max is her "best find" because he is a best friend and a life mentor; he has showed her that depite being poor, things will work out in the end.
